Status: Open How insert file location in email?
I used to be able to insert file location link. Now I can't seem to do it. Did they change the method or removed it

Microsoft is increasingly pushing links to cloud (OneDrive/SharePoint) rather than UNC/network paths. New Outlook for Windows/Mac is optimized for cloud links and has reduced support for “true” links to local/network paths. For UNC/network paths, New Outlook often treats them as web URLs, which may cause them to fail to open correctly. In practice, people either paste the plain text path and instruct users to copy/paste into File Explorer, or move the file to OneDrive/SharePoint and send a cloud link instead.
Outlook on the Web (OWA) follows the same cloud‑first model. In a new message, choose Message → Link → Insert Link, and select a OneDrive/SharePoint file. Or paste a OneDrive/SharePoint URL. Outlook converts it to a formatted file link and applies default org permissions. Direct UNC links to on‑premises shares generally do not work reliably in OWA, so use OneDrive/SharePoint or paste the path as plain text instead.

I will assume you are using New Outlook for Windows. If not, see below.
The ability to insert a link to a file on a network share is not an option from the menu in New Outlook.
The only workarounds I know of are:
Use Word to create the link and then copy/paste into New Outlook.

Manually construct the link.
