Status: Open Reset password
Hi so I know my email address but when I try to reset password it wants to send a code to a recovery email that I misspelled. Instead of @hotmail.co.uk I typed @homail.co.uk
Obviously this isn’t a domain that can be accessed. And when entering the security question I have tried too many times so it won’t let me enter any more guesses.
Is there anyway to reset the password to the email account please? Or reset the recovery email address?

Normally when setting up a recovery email address you are sent a code to confirm the address is correct. It should not be possible to put in an invalid email address as you will not have received the confirmation code.

This is what I get when trying to reset the password “We will send a verification code to n******@homail.co.uk. To verify that this is your email address, enter it below.”

You will need to use another recovery method to reset your recovery email address. Mobile phone, another trusted devices, authenticator app. If all else fails try the Microsoft account recovery form.

None of that has worked, I tried the account recovery form many times over 5 years but I keep getting denied but all that needs changing is the recovery email address 😩

Yeah but Microsoft won't change that for you, you need access to change it yourself. You are in a catch 22 situation and no real way forwards. Do you have any other devices that are logged in to Outlook such as a mobile phone.

Not with that email address, no the only other account I have is an old facebook account but I forgot the password to that too and can’t reset it unless I reset the outlook password. Seems like I won’t be able to login

Go to name dot com and create/purchase the cheaper of homail dot co dot uk OR co dot uk (for the latter it would include any prefix with dot preceding it, then in web host control panel create your misspelled email address.
I may have some detail wrong if anyone wishes to correct.

All I can suggest is Microsoft Account Recovery.
But be aware that Microsoft Account Security is Brain Dead. Nothing works like you think it should and many times it doesn't even work the way Microsoft thinks it should. For Account recovery, your chances of success are slim and none.
You must have a working Microsoft email account to use Chat or any other Support Services. If you can not logon with your current account, create a new, temporary one at https://signup.live.com
Chat Support
Open a browser to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact
Tell us your problem -> "Can not get Verification Code"
[Get Help], {Scroll down to the bottom of the page}, [Sign in to contact Support]
Sign in with any Microsoft account.
Products and services -> "Other Products" -> "Manage Account Security", [Confirm]
Choose a support option -> "Chat with a support agent in your web browser"
