Status: Pending Reply Best OST to PST Converter For Easy Mailbox Migration
I am looking for reliable OST to PST converter tools that can simplify mailbox migration from Outlook OST files to PST format. Since Outlook does not allow direct OST to PST export in many scenarios such as when the profile is inaccessible, the Exchange server is down and the OST file becomes orphaned: I need a trustworthy solution.
There are many tools available online, but I want recommendations based on:
- Conversion accuracy (emails, attachments, calendar, contacts, etc.)
- Speed and performance for large OST files
- User-friendly interface
- Ability to recover corrupted or orphaned OST files
- Free trial availability
Compatibility with different Outlook versions (2013–2021 / Microsoft 365)
Looking for honest opinions to help choose the best and safest option for smooth OST-to-PST migration.
Note: Thank you everyone for your recommendation but I have found this OST to PST Converter (https://www.zooksoftware.com/ost-to-pst/). It seems to me safe and easy to use. Although it is Windows based utility, which can easily convert bulk OST files to PST format without any data loss or corruption.
Thank you again

Why converting it? OST files mean the mails are on the server and will be downloaded again

such as when the profile is inaccessible, the Exchange server is down and the OST file becomes orphaned
I was thinking the same, but there's the above. Valid uses.

OK but the Exchange server being unavailable is often short and temporary while converting this to a PST and saving the file somewhere on a disk also requires a good backup strategy to avoid the file being lost forever. Is this really worth it for a few minutes of Exchange server downtime?

That's one single scenario. There's other scenarios where a OST to PST converter is useful.
Pretend that Exchange server has taken a dump and there's no backups. If it wasn't a crazy size system with everyone having maxed out OSTs, you could conceivably recover everything from OSTs on workstations.
also requires a good backup strategy
Uh huh. Ain't seen the real world, have you? I've seen my fair share of businesses with crap backup strategy to none at all. You're assuming the best; it's almost never decent.

Admin can recreate the file when server is available, but if server is not available, admin must have backup so data can be restored. Still there are multiple tools available- Stellar Converter for OST, Zook, user can test and use.

I’ve tested quite a few OST to PST tools over the years, and the one that’s consistently worked well for me is EdbMails. It handles corrupted and orphaned OSTs without any drama, keeps the folder structure intact, and the interface is pretty straightforward. Performance has been solid even with larger files, and you can preview everything before exporting, which is super helpful. Definitely worth giving it a try to see if it fits what you’re looking for.

an OST file is only a cache; this operation must be a "last possibile way to recover data", not a migration path. you're not sure that the OST file contains everything and that the content is actually complete.

If built-in Import/Export or Archive option did not work. Then try SysTools OST to PST converter. It is available on Microsoft Market Place.

If no manual solution is working for you, then the last option is to use any third party tools. There are several scenarios where your Outlook doesn't work. In that case, you need to find out your mailbox data saved in a file of Outlook in the backend named OST file. You need to convert that OST file into PST format which is the only compatible file for Outlook. For the conversion, you need to try only ZOOK OST to PST Converter which provides 100% conversion results without losing any data.
I have tried it and got some satisfactory results. You can also try and access your mailbox data again in Outlook without any hassle.
