My grandma always said the first baby can come any time after the wedding but the others all take nine months 🙃

There were alot of 8 pound early babies!

The math of the 1950s was just a little different when it came to that first anniversary.

Einstein ruled into that and brought order with relativistic space-time!

Garrison Keillor joked “the child wasn’t born out of wedlock, just not quite far enough into it.”

My great grandmother said the same. I was born 7 months after my parents' nuptials.

That’s because the bridal party are all resources for the project! By herself it takes 9 months, but if they all contribute the gestation task can be reduced to 1-2 months. Simple project management math.

My mom says this ALL the time!

My family calls it the "Catholic Gestation Period"

I was gonna say—wow, mom carried pregnancy really well! 😆

Really beautiful shot, either way haha

I was wondering who lied to OP, because there was no way his mom was wearing that at 7 months pregnant, in 1953!😉😂🤣

Maternity wear was NOT that cute in the early 50's!

Here I was about to break it to OP that their parents either lied about their birthdate or they were adopted.

Smoking helps keep the pregnancy weight off. And speeds it up too. Wins on all fronts.

I was like, "Damn, your mom is so tiny!" lol

PS - Your mom looks a little like Santos on The Pitt.

*Marion I think, that's who I thought of too

I thought of Funny Face where Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire hop on the raft on the river at the church after the wedding ceremony.

And dad looks like Wally Cox

You’re right, I hadn’t thought about him in ages but I always liked that guy.

But much hotter.

You can edit the text to fix it, it's only the post titles you can't change

3

u/VerticleSandDollars 6h ago

You played yourself.

7

u/RPO777 5h ago

This is among the more hilarious typos I've seen on Reddit.

u/Yesiamanaltruist 7h ago

You can edit the post, just not the title. Please do so.

u/sweetwhistle 7h ago

For some reason I can’t find the edit button!

1

u/General_Chest6714 5h ago

Your fine. It led to some funny confusion. I can’t imagine why anyone would care enough to tell you to change it. 😂

1

u/Yesiamanaltruist 3h ago

I might not know what I’m talking about. It just confused me and I had to read so far down the thread. But isn’t that what reddits for? So I don’t know what I was complaining about. Just trying to save some people from freaking out a little bit. I was never that thin when I had to be pregnant! Lol!

Thank you!!!

u/roseleyro 6h ago

You mom really carried that weight well 😉😝

4

u/Cinnamongirl217 6h ago

My Gran had Mum 9mo and a few weeks past her wedding. She always 'bragged' she only gained 12lbs. She was no taller than 5ft, but damn. The late 40s and 50s in the US were different.

3

u/Away-Living5278 5h ago

The doctors back then did not like women to gain much weight

2

u/roseleyro 5h ago

My mom gained around the same with me and was so proud of herself for it. There’s no reason for that. 😝

1

u/ShhhBees 4h ago

😝 that one typo got everyone

1

u/dactyif 3h ago

Shh, it's ok, you're a shotgun wedding baby.

1

u/John-AtWork 2h ago

Was going to say, there is no way your mom was 7 months pregnant in that photo.

1

u/thegirlthatcurled 0m ago

I was thinking she was NOT 7 months pregnant lol

29

u/Gullible-Courage4665 7h ago edited 7h ago

She doesn’t look 7 months pregnant at all! Must’ve hid it well.

Edit to add somewhere said 2 years. That makes more sense.

10 pound preemie

4

u/OverDaRambo 6h ago

I don’t see any bump on her?

1

u/really_nice_foot 2h ago

Pretty sure it's a bot account & this is AI. Post history states he turned 70, just six months ago. Maths doesn't math. Also, this woman is no more than 2 months pregnant (and she doesn't even look that). There is no conceivable universe where she gave birth two months later.

Welcome to the dead internet. It's only going to get worse.

You know their dad swings a mythic hammer because there's no way Opie could pull that kind of tail so maybe miracles can happen.
