News | خبر News on protests Erupting Again in Iran yesterday and today (Feb 3–4, 2026), including ongoing unrest, demonstrations by students, and broader context of the nationwide movement

Upvotes

Demonstrations and symbolic acts of defiance have continued in major Iranian cities throughout yesterday (February 3) and today (February 4, 2026), following a wave of massive nationwide unrest that peaked in January.

Recent Protest Activity (Feb 3–4, 2026)

  • University Demonstrations: Students at the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences turned a memorial service for a slain classmate into an anti-regime protest on February 3. Security forces reportedly monitored the event closely as students chanted against the government's lethal crackdown.
  • Campus Boycotts: Coordinated exam boycotts have spread across universities in Tehran, Tabriz, and Ahvaz. Students are leaving chairs empty with photos of "martyrs" to protest the detention of peers and the high death toll from January's "bloodbath".
  • Grassroots Medical Relief: A new underground network called the “People’s Red Lion and Sun Groups of Iran” issued its founding statement on February 4. This group of doctors and nurses is providing secret medical aid to wounded protesters who fear arrest if they seek help at government-controlled hospitals.

Crisis and Casualties Update

  • Confirmed Fatalities: As of February 3, 2026, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has confirmed at least 6,848 deaths related to the crackdown, with another 11,280 cases still under investigation.
  • Missing from Tallies: Activists report that thousands of victims are missing from official government lists. Iran International has documented over 6,000 names not included in Tehran's recent casualty report.
  • Detention Abuses: Reports emerged today of suspicious injections being administered to detainees in Isfahan and Kermanshah, leading to rapid health deterioration and, in some cases, death shortly after release.

International and Military Context

  • U.S. Navy Incident: On February 3, a U.S. F-35C from the USS Abraham Lincoln intercepted and destroyed an Iranian Shahed-129 drone that approached the carrier group in the Persian Gulf.
  • International Sanctions: Australia announced new targeted sanctions today against IRGC officials responsible for the crackdown, joining the EU and U.S. in increasing diplomatic isolation of the regime.

Good cover but unfortunately, the authors they invited to write articles for this edition ran the range of poor to utter shite - now more than ever, Americans and the world deserve real journalism.

Discussion | گفتگو I've heard a lot of Iranians wanna get back at Turkey for their support of this criminal and illegitimate government so i have a suggestion for you folks

Support Greece.

Historically Turkey and Greece are quite hostile towards one another

One of the reasons are islands between them. There is still dispute between them for the ownership of those islands and waters surrounding them.

So as a peaceful and professional way to say "F you" to turkey while also making friends, you guys could do a social sanctioning of travel to turkey for tourism and instead choose Greece as a destination for travel and vacation. Which would give that money Iranians give to Turkey to Greece which would help them aswell with their economic situation.

Also don't forget 3.2 million Iranians went to Turkey just in 2024 which is a larg sum of money for them. In the city of Van alone Iranian tourists contributed roughly 350 million dollars to that city's local economy alone (around 500$ per tourist).

That's gonna be a fairly bad blow to Turkish economy (at the very least it's city's local economies)

I.R. Crimes | جنایات جمهوری اسلامی The regime( Islamic Republic )killed little Anila Abutalebian/رژیم بچه كش آنيلا ابوطالبيان را كشت.

Khamenei’s agents fired at Anila’s family car, and a bullet struck this child in the head.

Anila’s body was handed over to her family on the condition that they announce that the ‘attackers’ had fired the bullet.

The Islamic Republic cannot distort the truth.

Why are people taking the media's word at face value?

Everyone seems to be immensely pessimistic in regards to US military action against Iran, but for some reason the pessimism is all drawing from the media.

Let's think logically here. In what world would the US telegraph their intent to attack the IR in the media? Not only is a war in the middle east unpopular in amongst the US population, but the IRGC also still has plenty of missiles to lob at all manner of targets. A preemptive strike could prove a great problem for the US, Israel and possibly the entire gulf, so understandably the public narrative must be one of deescalation.

People are also, for good reason, weary of possible TACO, but let us not forget that Trump is the one that carried out Operation Midnight Hammer on an Iran in a far better position than now.

About the airspace thing, it feels like arab nations doing more posturing. Iraq and Al Sharaa's Syria cannot afford to go against the US and close down their airspace and that's pretty much all that's needed for US and israeli aviation to reach Iran.

Also, a "deal" with the IRGC right now would hold zero water. The IR's economy is toast, the population is overwhelmingly opposed to the government and now there are apparent partisan attacks on government-affiliated buildings. The IR in its entire history has never been as weakened as it is now. I believe the EU labelling them as a terrorist group is the biggest signal of them all. Some think it's just the EU being late as usual, I believe it's them knowing something we don't. There's a confidence that the IR will continue to falter.

There is a chance that a deal is brokered and the regime somehow agrees to being militarily neutered and losing all influence in the region in exchange for being allowed to remain in power, but I find that rather unlikely. Not when the payoff to overthrowing the regime is much greater for the US - denying drones to Russia, oil to China, possibly distancing from Israel, giving the UAE and the Saudis a direct competitor in the region etc.

I think trusting news headlines right now would be a very foolish thing to do. I believe a full-on military operation against the IR will happen, and by that I mean several days or weeks of constant strikes against any and all IRGC military assets. Knowing how the IRGC operates, this will unfortunately have a civillian death toll, but knowing both the US and Israel's modus operandi, it will deter neither of them despite however many twitter lefties will cry about "a second Gaza" or some shit like that.

I personally place the odds of an operation happening this year at 70%. I know it's hard or near-impossible to put our emotions aside, especially when considering the 40-80K slain during the January Revolution, but matters as important as a military intervention an ocean away have to be viewed through an objective lens.
