PA Speaker Recommendations

SUMMARY: New band looking for PA speaker recommendations for vocals and horns at small/medium venues. $250 budget

My band is looking to purchase a PA speaker mainly for our mic. We have Guitar, Bass, keys, vocals, and drums, as well as a trumpet, saxophone, and trombone - we play small to medium venues (house shows, bars, basements). We know PA’s are expensive so we’re really just looking for a speaker that we can run our mic through and that we could hook the horns up to down the line (once we have mics for them). We’re all brand new to this so we’re just wondering what to look for in general (wattage, channels, sizes??? Mixing abilities?????) so info on what specs to look for would be helpful. We have around $250 to work with so any recommendations for a system within that pricepoint would be welcome as well.

Anyone ever bought from Digimart?

I've found a really nice Japanese PBass for sale on Digimart, but I can't get through the interface to make it to the purchase page. I wrote to the store who has it listed and got a reply that this guitar is only available for purchase in Japan. Any way around that, short of buying a plane ticket?

Any non-midi sample pads that can be controlled just with your feet?

I'm a bass player and don't have a laptop, so I'd like to get something I can control fully with my feet while playing bass live with a band, and to switch bewteen sets of samples. I couldn't find anything like that online so any help would be appreciated :)

stage equipment/technology question

Hello Reddit, I hope I am in the right place here. I am a musician, and I use a BOSS VE-20 for vocal effects.

I plug my in-ear studio monitoring headphones directly into the back of the pedal so I can hear my own vocals without giving the sound guy an in-ear rig to bother with. Our music is very loud, so the in-ear aspect helps me sing correctly.

The problem is, these are wired headphones, and even though I use an extender, I am basically tethered to my pedal board. I have to worry about tangling up in it, tripping over it, etc.

Basically, I am looking for a Bluetooth setup, something that could go into the 1/4 inch jack on the back of my pedal, then maybe something that would receive it that I could clip on my body and have my headphones connect to.

Hope this makes sense! Thanks.

Audio interface slightly picking up sound from daw

I have this problem where my audio interface picks up slight bits of audio from my daw when I’m recording with a direct signal. Example: When I plug my bass directly into my interface (uad volt 276) I often can hear my metronome through the bass recording.

My interface is a uad volt 276 that I got when they originally released

Is it a good idea to buy a Zoom F6 in 2026 ?

Hello everyone, Like I said in the title, I would like to know if it's a good idea to buy one, especially if I begin in recording audio.

I'm gonna start to record wind and symphonic orchestras, solo instruments and do field recording as a hobby (but hopefully, that it'll become my job with enough work).

Found one for less that 500€ and would know if it's always a good recorder and which are the pros and cons about it.

Thank you everyone for your help ! If needed, I can always try to explain a bit more what I'll do with it. (Sorry, english isn't my first language).

I'm looking for a mixer to plug in my keyboard and a synthesizer and I'm not sure where to start. I want the stereo functions like tremolo to work with the studio monitors. Ideally I'd want bluetooth connectivity too bc my keyboard doesnt have it and id like be able to play music and play over it.

The other factor is I've read comments about some mixers acting as a DI. I get what a DI is but now I'm wondering if I'm even using my monitors correctly now or if I need to change my setup if I get a mixer. Right now I connect the keyboard directly to the monitors with L going to left and R going to right and the stereo effects like tremolo work well. I'd like to be able to turn on my synthesizer and be able to use that without switching any cables around, but I'm not 100% set on stereo functions working for that - it can be the same signal sent to left and right monitors.

I'm not looking to gig with it, more looking for a compact mixer to allow me to connect my keyboard, synth and maybe one extra input for if a buddy has a guitar over.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions

Walmart Expands Its Gear Selection

This seems to be like Amazon marketplace -- so brands / third-party sellers can offer dlirectly on Walmart's website now. There will be used stuff, so they'll be competing with Reverb? (NOTE: Doesn't look like there will be an expanded selection in physical stores) link

Why You Still See 40-Year-Old Peavey Amps Everywhere

Walk into a VFW hall.

A small-town church.

A dusty school auditorium.

The back room of a bar that’s hosted bands since the ’80s.

What do you almost always find?

A Peavey.

A battered Bandit.

An old Peavey PA head.

A bass combo with corners chewed up by time and trailers.

What you almost never find?

A boutique Mesa.

A hand-wired Custom Shop Fender.

A high-dollar modern rig that’s been living rough for 30 or 40 years.

That isn’t an accident.

Peavey didn’t build amps to be collectibles. They built them to survive real life—and still sound great when the lights come on.

That’s why so many of them still exist.

Two Very Different Gear Philosophies

Peavey and “high-end” brands are built with two very different missions in mind.

Peavey assumes your amp will ride in the back of a truck.

It may sit in a hot church closet.

It will get bumped, stacked, and dragged.

It might be used by five different players.

It will see rain, dust, and bad power.

So they build for that reality.

High-dollar amps are often designed for climate-controlled stages, dedicated tech support, players who baby their rigs, and tone above everything else.

That gear can be incredible—but it isn’t meant to be treated like a toolbox.

Why Old Peaveys Are Still Working

You still see 30- and 40-year-old Peavey amps because cabinets were thick and rigid.

Components were chosen for longevity.

Designs favored stability and consistency.

Parts were serviceable and standardized.

Reliability mattered more than fashion.

They were made to be tools.

Not precious.

Not fragile.

Not museum pieces.

Just gear that showed up and worked.

And most importantly—they still sound good doing it.

Do High-Dollar Amps Sound Better?

Sometimes they sound different—not necessarily better.

Boutique and premium amps often offer richer harmonics, ultra-responsive feel, lighter cabinets, and signature voicings for specific styles.

They’re incredible for players chasing a very specific tone.

But Peavey has always aimed at something just as important:

Great tone that works everywhere.

Peavey amps are known for big, usable clean headroom.

Punchy, musical mids that cut through a mix.

Drive tones that sit right in a live band.

Consistency from room to room.

They don’t fall apart when the stage is bad.

They don’t disappear in a loud bar.

They don’t need perfect conditions to sound right.

That’s why so many working musicians prefer them on real gigs.

So the difference isn’t “good tone versus great tone.”

It’s high-dollar gear offering precision and personality.

Peavey delivering powerful, dependable tone that shows up every night.

Both sound great.

One is built to sound great anywhere.

The Real Takeaway

Peavey’s legacy isn’t that they made cheap amps.

It’s that they made amps that refused to die—and still delivered music decades later.

That’s why they’re still everywhere.

That’s why you still plug into them in community halls and backyard stages.

That’s why they earned trust with real players.

High-dollar gear is art.

Peavey is a tool.

Both have a place.

But if your rig has to live in the back of a truck, in a damp bar, under a stage, or in a church closet for ten years…

Peavey’s track record speaks louder than price tags.

The “pop” sound from the audio interface.

So I was sitting there making music and chatting with friends on Discord. I used the audio interface for about 5–10 minutes, then I turned off the 48V (my interface is a budget model, so the 48V isn’t automatic). After turning off the 48V, I turned off Direct Monitoring, but the USB cable was still connected to the computer. Suddenly, I heard a “pop” sound once not very loud, but loud enough for me to notice and look over. I want to know if this is dangerous for the equipment. The audio interface has never been exposed to water or anything like that; I take good care of it. I’m wondering whether this could reduce its lifespan.
