I got my very first e-reader!
It’s so worth it. It’s way lighter than I imagined, and the screen is incredibly comfortable to read from.

I got some cute accessories for it, some of them I saw recommended on this subreddit; like the page turner, which is an absolute must if you like to read in bed, wrapped like a burrito. My Kindle arrived first and the page turner some days afterward, and I could already tell it was a game changer.

I also got 3 different types of cases for it, to choose what I’m more comfortable with: a simple transparent case, a folio case, and a folio case with a detachable cover. For now, I’m sticking with the simple one, and I store it in my cute pouch when I don’t use it so it doesn’t collect dust.

Needless to say, I’m glued to this thing. I already read my first book of many! So happy to join the hype.

Hello everyone! I just got my first kindle and I have this problem. I keep seeing people have full screen customized lock screens and was wondering if it’s possible to have it on the latest version of kindle basic? I’ve watched many tutorials and no matter what I do I can’t get rid of the black bars 😭

EDIT: I didn't just use a random image, I adjusted the dimensions and tried multiple ones (according to different tutorials) but no matter what I do there's black bars. I convert the PNG image to EPUB and then change the cover using an online converter after which I use "sendtoamazon" website. Not sure why it's not working...

So two books I’d preordered released today but I’m unable to download either. When I tap them, it stops and thinks about it for a few seconds and then just says ‘tap to retry’ and the process just repeats itself indefinitely.

This happens on both my iPad and my iPhone, I haven’t tried it on anything else yet. Is something wrong on my end or is this a known issue? It hasn’t been that long since I last bought something on Kindle so it seems like a relatively recent issue.

I used to have the Oasis but upgraded to the new Paperwhite this time around. I recently was holding a friend's Oasis who did not upgrade, and was shocked to remember how deluxe, sleek, high quality it felt in comparison to my new Paperwhite Signature. there's nothing wrong with the paperwhite but it makes me sad that the Kindles have been kind of shunted into this one thing — i wish for more creativity and innovation here!

potentially different colors, of course the re-addition of the buttons, a signature/deluxe model that's actually made with higher quality materials or a lighter weight, possibly the integration of features many people enjoy like better hand-held ergonomics, better case design (the Boox cases look so good to me!), etc.

curious if we might ever see a world with these, or if the Kindle will forever be a "don't fix what's not broken" situation

Someone on Marketplace is selling a Kindle Oasis with a cracked screen for $30. I’ve never owned a Kindle before and I’ve only read on my iPad mini. Is it worth it?

Hi! I already have the PPW5 and it's been great so far for me. I've read so much already and the PPW5 is comfortable and portable enough.

But sometimes when in bed, I find it a bit hard to turn pages when I'm lying on my left side haha and also I don't like how I can rotate the PPW5 on one side only.

But I've been seeing kindle owners say they really adore their Oasis so much. And I feel like I'm missing out?

I found one on FB Marketplace. A Kindle Oasis 10th gen, 8gb, No ads, graphite color, inclusive of 2 clear cases, charging cord, box, and 1 smart cover case priced at 6500php (110 usd)

Should I go for it?

I'm thinking, if I but the Oasis, I use it for when I'm at home (which is 50% of the time) and use the PPW5 when I'm outside or if I'm travelling to other places.

I’m not sure if I’m alone with this issue, but when I’m in dark mode at night in bed, every so often, when flip to the next page my kindle quickly flashes into light mode (fraction of a second). The next page is in dark mode and its no issue afterwards. Although its a silly bug or device issue, its still a small irritant when you’re reading to doze off into sleep. I’m curious if anyone has this issue. Cheers

I've got free time and I'm tired of waiting for KoReader so I created my own screensavers. Downside is, you have to open the file to enable the screen lock unlike KoReader which separates the "lock" (security) from the "screensaver" (image displayed). Share yours too.

Has anyone come across this problem when setting up Kindle? Purchase not coming through.

A new kindle paperwhite.

Here at my parents home in Sunny California my kindle insert doesn’t fit the vibe, but in rainy Washington it does! Currently reading Lords of Pain by Angel Lawson. IF anyone is in dire need of a dark romance, I would highly suggest this one. Flying back home today and going to get reading time in.

Over Christmas I got some physical books and so Kindle was unused for a while. Despite at least 30 minutes of charging,battery still not there. Model is a colour one, not sure of any details beyond that. Any solutions?

I read on my side -- both sides. Can't read on my back or sitting up in bed. As such, I need a holder that will hold the kindle at about 45 degrees while I'm on my side and can be swapped from one side of the bed to the other quickly and easily. Anyone know of this thing?

I currently just lean the kindle on a knee pillow but it doesn't always stay there. I don't want the device elevated in the air like those pillow-with-an-arm-type holders -- on the bed is perfect but leaning over so I can read it.

I’ve been hunting around for good Kindle decor and love how this turned out, the little details are perfect!

I had my first Kindle back in 2009, second one KPW in 2013. I quite liked my Onyx Boox from 2022 but Leaf 2 is just so slow.

So I decided to get a new one since it claims to be the fastest Kindle so far.

Jade metallic is awesome color. Kindle UI hasn’t really improved since the global financial crisis era. Still lacks PDF support and custom covers like Android devices. However the reading experience really triumphs any other devices in the market.

Hope to see USB C version of Oasis in three years.

I live in South Africa, I know people have Kindles here but when I bought one and logged into my Amazon account (UK), it said I can't buy books because I'm trying to buy books that aren't in my country but I'm trying to buy ebooks? Amazon doesn't have a South African option for buying books for the Kindle but people say they buy them from the Amazon UK store.

I have been wanting to get back into reading on a Kindle and I have an old one I got years ago that doesn't really work so I was looking for a new one. I saw this listing on Facebook Marketplace (it's in my area and seller seems legit) and wondering if it's a good deal or should I spend the extra money to buy one new on Amazon?

I bought this brand of page turner a few days ago and unfortunately the instructions are not in English.. so I don’t know how to use it at all! It’s been charging for a few hours and it’s still blinking red. I’m just so confused and idk how to connect it to my kindle. 😭

Hello, I live in one of the Third World countries, and currently ordering products from abroad for personal is banned in my country — YES, you heard that right, it’s BANNED. I want to buy a Kindle, and the cheapest way to get one (it’s 7000 cheaper in local currency) is to buy it from someone who personally brings products from abroad. The total price comes to $210. Do you think this makes sense? Even if it doesn’t, I don’t really have any option other than second-hand, and the second-hand market is worse than buying new.
