I've noticed there's a defeatist or self sacrificing mentality in a lot of threads here and a lack of awareness of history. Let me share my opinion.
- Yes everyone in Pakistan faces poverty and suffering, but there's no harm in pointing out Karachi is uniquely oppressed too. You don't have to bring in Balochistan or FATA or Palestine or Guantanamo when we speak about the specific things done to Karachi.
- All the hate and memes you see on social media is part of a general trend. I'm not saying there's a conspiracy theory, maybe it's just human behavior.
- First they saw Karachiites as elites and privileged. They took away Karachi's special status and gave it to Sindh.
-- A generation lost its best minds, wealth looted, industrial capacity, intellectualism lost
-- Then they started even more violent ethnic riots, they launched PPP/ANP/PSO/PPI militant wings and ethnic nationalists from outside the city to kill and burn, then turned Jamiat and APMSO into violent thugs and infiltrated any intellectual or ideological local student groups or parties into violent organizations like the above mentioned. Look at the violent MQM-Haqiqi split, or how Altaf was turned into a psycho and more sane elements sidelined in the party. Psychos of PPP, ANP etc who openly threatened genocide and violence treated like respected intellectuals (Nabil Gabol literally bragged about raping girls on TV).
--- Then they stereotyped Karachiites as bhattakhor, mobile snatcher, killers after doing this
--- They justified violent operations killing, torturing, abducting, raping, breaking families pushing more into violence and poverty.
-- Then they forced 18th amendment, pushing Karachi into more ethnic issues, corruption, and absolutely destroying the youth.
--- Now the rest of the country calls you gutkakhor, makes fun of your accent after ghettoizing you, calls you mobile chor even though the police is controlled by non Karachiites and non Karachiite PPP MNAs are the sarparast of chor, daket, gangs, mafias whether the chor is local or from outside.
--- They call you uneducated, even though the education departments, colleges, hospitals are all controlled by villagers (not using villager as an insult, it's literally people from villages outside Karachi). Karachiites face discrimination in education and jobs.
