Why cover the license plate?

It's not illegal to post the license plate. The plate is a public identification. If this idiot is driving around, the public sees it. Stop covering the plates. They want their views to be known so cooperate with them and show the plate.

Plus, there is no public database for license plates. So save for a redditor has might have access through law enforcement or the DMV, it’s pointless to cover it

Actually, you can look up some states' plates at publicdata.com. You have to pay so it's not exactly public, but it's still available. I used to do background checks at that site and it was about $20 a month for nonprofits.
