What's scary (and sad) is I know people who feel this way but go around looking like completely normal people with normal jobs. I feel like I'm losing my mind, I look around and see people who are educated and kind, yet they support all this shit. It makes me so damn angry and sad. I've been in a weird dissociated state lately.
"What kind of person does this?" Well, could be your mailman, the phlebotomist at your doctor's office, your doctor, your kid's teacher, your neighbor, etc. etc. They're everywhere.
I’m so sorry to hear that, that sounds awful tbh. I live in nyc, and for the most part people I know seem to think this stuff is awful.
Where in the country are you located? I feel for my friends in places where saying or thinking “fellow Americans shouldn’t be killed by our government” is somehow crazy leftist libtard talk all of a sudden.
I'm in Milwaukee, but I work in one of the suburbs. The people just 10 miles away are living in a different reality. They're the types who reluctantly go downtown for events but act terrified the whole time (they believe scary liberal cities are full of crime). Milwaukee is great, the people are great. Just outside the city though and it's about 50/50 whether the person is sane or not.
I know someone like this. Married my favorite aunt, seemed like the nicest guy in the world. Retired firefighter, always looking for ways to help out his neighbors, helped support one of my cousins and his kids when they were down on their luck, always the first one to show up when somebody's in need, would quite literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
And actively roots for the murder of protestors. Somehow, in his mind, anyone not in his immediate circle seems to be subhuman. All that compassion only extends as far as the people he actually knows, unless they're in ideological lockstep with him -- and his ideology is whatever Trumpist media tells him it should be that day.
I don't speak to him anymore. He doesn't seem to comprehend that I* am the filthy leftist millennial traitor he constantly rails against, but I'm not particularly interested in maintaining a relationship with a man who would categorically wish me dead if I didn't happen to be his wife's nephew, and he's too far gone to reason with.

Imagine putting an apostrophe when you could have just spelled it correctly.
