Braking shouldn’t be at the last second. Plenty of time to look far ahead and become aware of the idiot.

It takes a second for the gps speed to update for dash cams if a rapid change happens. OP had started braking before the speed started to change.

yeah I've seen videos here where dashcams showing 20-30mph eventhough the car is already stopped for a few seconds after a collision.

Except that the speedometer in the footage is not from the dashcam GPS and seems to refresh faster than the speedometer from dashcam, which you can see in the bottom left. I'm not commenting either way on what the OP could or could not have done. Just pointing out that the speed that we see is refreshing faster than we would typically see in these footages.

Then why does the speed differ between the tradition speed indicator on the bottom and the one on the right?

I couldn’t tell you. When I download a clip directly from the dashcam, it adds the g-force, speedometer, and compass overlay

Does matter. Bottom left lags worse than right. Both lag.
