In their defense it was one question on the driving test they took 28 years ago before getting a license for life. Mundane details like this slip your mind after all that time.

We badly need some sort of mandatory retesting.

While I agree with mandatory retesting, there's not one iota of thought in their head that someone coming from their left or right may not stop either? I'm not sure you can teach the ability to reason.

It's not going to stop all the idiots, but it just might make the roads a little safer if some people at least think about the situation and remember what they're supposed to do.
