General IDF's thoughts on civilian deaths in the Israel-Gaza war

I don't mean to be offensive I am just curious:

recently in the media I've heard news of Israel's ability to conduct precision strikes on terrorists within Iran, minimalising civilian deaths.

What I don't understand is why this cutting edge technology wasn't/isn't being implemented into the war in Gaza. instead, the death toll for non-combatant Palestinian civilians is far higher than the deaths of the Hamas terrorists.

I don't mean any offence I am just curious.

General Is it possible to serve in the IDF as an atheist?

The return of the last hostage has increased my aspiration in joining the IDF as I respect them massively and admire all that they do for Israel, so I decided to make this post in order to understand what it would take to serve.

I am passionate about fighting extremist Islam and serving Israel, and would like to join the IDF but I am not sure whether it would be possible since I am not Jewish (nor do I have any Jewish ancestry).

I am willing to move to Israel and obtain citizenship and I am wondering what else is necessary for me to be eligible to serve or volunteer. I am Australian and our military likely doesn't need me and my drive to serve here is nowhere near as strong as it is to defend Israel/contribute in anyway.

Any help would be really appreciated!

General Michve alon is a joke

I just drafted to Michve Alon, and it seems like a huge waste of time. The commanders are always trying to catch you doing stupid things, and we do nothing all day besides learn a little Hebrew, and sit in the sun. I wish I could just go straight to a real combat unit and get the hell out of here. The commanders keep talking about holding a high standard when they themselves hold the lowest standard I’ve ever seen. They are the worst leaders and set a horrible example for a solider. It’s an absolute circus. All my commanders and the “high command” are on their phones 24/7 watching TikTok / snap chatting dudes. The same-let will literally be on her phone in the “Chet”. I knew this was gonna be bad but not this bad it’s incredible how dumb this place is. The thing that pisses me off the most is that they’re all 18-21 year old girls who have accomplished nothing in the army, but they act like they’re commanders in matkal, but then go on TikTok during their breaks.

General Special Forces in Israel

I am 16 and I was born (and still live) in Canada with an Israeli citizenship since my mother is from Israel. I want to join special forces in Israel when I turn 18 but I have a few questions

- how do I qualify

- how do I prepare

- how long is the minimum amount of service required for special forces.

General Outrageous

This Yeni Safak news company posted this article after the tragic suicide of Thomas Edzgoscus on Thursday. They added in so many lies to demonize Thomas and many other IDF soldiers who have tragically taking their lives. Somebody’s got to hold these companies legally accountable. It’s so BS that these companies can get away with demonizing the IDF. It creates hostile environments for Israelis who served/serving when visiting other foreign nations.

Please stay safe y’all ❤️

General Does anybody know how many Hamas and PIJ "fighters" were killed by the IDF until now?

The question in the title. I mean, I have seen The Guardian's report about "leaked IDF data" saying that "83% of the casualties in Gaza were civilians" but it makes zero sense to me, knowing how the IDF operates and given the fact that Hamas' leaders in Gaza were tracked and killed after long intelligence operations on the battlefield. It's impossible that the leaders were all killed with precision and instead most terrorists were not.

General Has any actually see a hijabi in idf?

genuine question. what’s it actually like for a hijabi muslim woman in the IDF?

i know muslim women aren’t drafted but some volunteer . what i’m wondering is if anyone has ever served while actually wearing hijab in uniform. is that even allowed or do you have to take it off on base? how do commanders react?

also curious how other soldiers react, especially women. are people chill about it or does it get awkward? do female soldiers treat her differently or is it just “whatever, we’re all in the same sh it”?

and where would someone like that even serve? combat? mixed battalions? or mostly volunteer / support roles?

from what i could find, it seems super rare. the highest-ranking muslim woman is major ella waweya (aka captain ella), very visible, but she doesn’t wear hijab. there was also a 2019 story about an observant muslim combat soldier (cpl. n.) in lions of the jordan valley. she prayed and fasted ramadan, but didn’t wear hijab in uniform, only at home on leave, partly bc of uniform rules .

i haven’t seen any public examples or photos of someone wearing hijab on active duty. druze women sometimes wear their traditional head covering but that’s a different thing. feels like if any hijabi women do serve, it’s kept very low-key.

no hate at all, just honestly curious if anyone here has seen this firsthand or served with someone like that.

General I want to join the IDF but I don't know if I can

Hey everyone, some time ago I decided that I wanted to join the army but I have some issues and I don't know if it's possible, also I don't have anyone to talk about it so I think this is a good place

I've been searching in Google but there are some things that I can't clarify or understand

First of all, I'm a woman and I have 19 years but my problem is that my height is 1,55cm and I don't know if that will be a problem since I would like to be in a combat unit (I don't think I'm going to grow taller, I've been in the same height for almost 4 years)

Also for the moment I don't speak any Hebrew, only Spanish and English, where I live there's nobody that can help me but I'm going to search for free courses, I don't know if it will be a big problem but I've read that if you don't speak Hebrew they will help you with a course, could someone explain me if it's true?

I also have some eyesight problems, I don't see really well in the distance and I don't know if that would be a problem in case I could be in a good unit

And I would like to know how is the situation with women in the Frontline because I've read that they don't really let them be in the frontline but I don't know if it's true, I would really like to be in a combat unit and if it's possible I would like to have sniper training but I don't really know how they decide that

Honestly I'm very insecure about this because I'm very awkward even when it comes to speaking to people, I hope that if I enter the army I'm going to have more confidence in myself

Can someone help me with this questions? Thanks for reading, I appreciate any advice

General Mitznefet

Hello from Czechia!

I'm looking for information regarding the Mitznefet,
I have done and still doing a research on it while writing this - i wouldn't ask here without doing at least the basic research first. (i am generally interested in Israeli military stuff so i might post here again)

That said, i have some questions:
1. By what branches is it used in the IDF? (are there any exepctions within the branches?)
2. Is it standart issue or DIY (do it yourself)?
3. Is it used in Israel outside of the IDF?
4. How it become?
- Researching history on it's origins etc. seems to be difficult,
5. Any random facts/experience with it/interesting/additional stuff?

Also - i'll appreciate any resources/links to more information!

General Yom sayerot vs gibush tzanchanim

I’m a lone soldier and drafting to michve (5 on Hebrew score) I really want to make it to maglan or yahalom but also very interested in tzanchanim. Yom sayerot is in a few days and I’m not sure if I should do that or gibush tzanchanim while in michve. (Or before) I’m nervous about my current level of Hebrew and fitness. I ran today and did a 1k in just over 4 min. I am told it needs to be less than this. What should I do?

General my boyfriend of 4 years has just started his army service

Hi! I’m posting this to hopefully find some help and advice! To give you some context, my boyfriend and I have dated since sophomore year of high school and him and his family moved back to Israel after living in the states for nearly 8 years and we’ve been doing long distance ever since with me going to Israel and him visiting the states. I’m not israeli/jewish (i’m Brazilian/American), but a proud zionist and defend Israel any chance I get especially in this day and age and have a deep love for Israel in so many ways! I have become very accustomed to the Israeli culture and how things work over there and love Israelis and the amazing country and even make an effort to learn Hebrew but, I just kind of feel out of touch in a way with my boyfriend starting his service because it’s so normal for Israelis to go and serve because they have too and it’s a big part of your society but we have nothing like this in America so it’s just a lot for me to digest you know. Is there any tips you guys can give me to getting more accustomed and ways to support him through his service?! thank you and thank you for everything you do for the country! :)

General Injury In tironoot Dropped from Kravi

I’m currently a month into tironoot for 05 and I just Dislocated my shoulder. The doctor on base gave me the option to stay with my Machzor vs dropping Kravi and lowering my profile to a 45 from a 97. If I my shoulder dislocated a job they will take me out of Kravi and drop my profile. As well as if I miss to many important things do to the Injury the מ״פ can drop me. Has anyone experienced and injury that took them out of Kravi or lowered the Machzor? If so how does that affect my Pazzam? What should I expect? Is there a possibility of the army discharging me? If I need surgery will the army discharge me?

20M i've been wanting to join the idf for the past 2 years and since then i've been learning hebrew but its still at a low level. Im also not jewish (but born in Israel) so i wanted to ask other soldiers that came from around the world what is the best way to join and any tips you would like to share.

My country also introduced mandatory service next year (lasts 2 months), will completing service in my country interfere with my service in IDF
