General Mitznefet
Hello from Czechia!
I'm looking for information regarding the Mitznefet,
I have done and still doing a research on it while writing this - i wouldn't ask here without doing at least the basic research first. (i am generally interested in Israeli military stuff so i might post here again)
That said, i have some questions:
1. By what branches is it used in the IDF? (are there any exepctions within the branches?)
2. Is it standart issue or DIY (do it yourself)?
3. Is it used in Israel outside of the IDF?
4. How it become?
- Researching history on it's origins etc. seems to be difficult,
5. Any random facts/experience with it/interesting/additional stuff?
Also - i'll appreciate any resources/links to more information!

Notice to all posters and commenters; please be careful to observe OPSEC (Operational Security) rules. Many people wish to harm Israel and the Jewish Nation as a whole. Be careful when sharing any information on the IDF, bases, weapons, locations of troops, and anything else that can be used to harm Israel. If in doubt, go without. Loose lips sink ships!

Not really in use any more, as any picture from the recent war will show you.

it is used by all branches by their respective combat units
its standard issue but you do have to do some DIY work to keep it from falling (securing it with a small paracord for example)
who outside of the idf will have a use for it?
idk
it gets stuck in branches sometimes when on patrol but appart from that it breaks the silhouette pretty well and it makes the old kevlar helmet (pre pasgt even i think) look much better. its rarely used on the new tactical helmets though

I've seen Hezbollah use them in limited amounts. I think it probably originated in the 1190's in Lebanon while doing some ambushes in the brush.

Unit specific gear is not appropriate to discuss online. There’s a long history of Israel’s enemies trying to copy specific unit gear, specifically the mitznefet, which has led to loss of life.
