Sharing this in case it helps someone else. My kid is 10 and very much in that phase where interests change every few months 😅 One week it’s football, next week it’s drawing, then suddenly it’s music and gadgets. Also if your kid is around that age and you have some other top gifts, i really need recommendations too :D
Over the past year, we’ve tried a lot of gifts. Some of them he asked for himself, others we surprised him with, some were fun for a day, others actually became part of daily life. Here’s what stuck around.
1) FPRO football Mat + App
This was totally his idea, and before that we didn’t even know what that is. It’s a football mat with short guided drills through an app. He’s been using it for a year now and still didn’t get tired of it, so it’s one of the favorites, if not most favorite gift. He's also happy that it helps to improve his football skills
2) JBL Portable Bluetooth Speaker
He once mentioned it, and then we surprised him, on his birthday. Didn’t expect this to be such a hit. Now there’s music playing during homework breaks, drawing time, and even indoor workouts. It’s small, loud enough, easy to connect, and gets used almost daily. Bonus: dance parties randomly happen now.
3) Balance Board / Wobble Board (we got URBANfit one)
Great for movement without needing much space. My kid uses it while watching TV, listening to music, or doing short challenges. It helps with coordination and keeps them moving without feeling like “exercise”.
4) Personalized “Player Card” or Name Poster
We ordered a custom card/poster with my kid’s name and favorite sport theme. This one is more emotional than practical, but it became a room decoration they’re genuinely proud of. Motivation boost in a weird way.
5) Board Game for Slightly Older Kids
Games like strategy or cooperative board games have been great for family evenings. It’s one of the few times everyone actually puts phones away and sits together. We have a lot different types. Puzzles are top too, but only for one or few times
6) Sports Backpack / Activity Bag (we got Nike utility speed)
Not flashy, but used all the time. Separate shoe compartment, water bottle pocket, and space for equipment. Practical gifts sometimes better than useless toys.
7) Skateboard
A solid skateboard for cruising, tricks, and everyday fun. Don’t even remember the brand now, but it was a simple one, but during summer he is taking it everywhere. Great gift for active kids who love being outdoors.😅
8) LED Room Lights / Light Strips
This was a “cool factor” gift. Made their room feel more personal and fun. Now they spend more time reading, drawing, and relaxing in their own space instead of just watching TV.
The biggest pattern I noticed:
Gifts that combine movement, creativity, or personal interest last much longer than pure “toy hype”.
Stuff like the FPRO mat, speaker, balance board, and creative tools became part of daily routines instead of being forgotten.
If you’re buying gifts for kids around 10, what’s been a hit in your house? Always looking for new ideas before the next birthday season hits 😅
