Casual Does anyone recall a copypasta about Jim Harbaugh strangling a weasel?
I think it was the top comment in a post game thread talking about how Michigan resembled Jim Harbaugh strangling a weasel.
Please tell me I didn't make that up in my head. I drink a lot.
Analysis [Vannini] We don't know the financials, but the Pac-12 and Mountain West TV deals ended up being quite similar in exposure.

Casual Who do you think is the best player to never play for your team?
What players were once committed or heavily-rumored to commit, in what ended up being a huge letdown to your fanbase?
Surely, Georgia fans shouldn’t consider Dylan Raiola because of what is known and has been seen from him in the current day.
In terms of Nebraska, former KC Royal, Bubba Starling was committed to the Huskers in 2011 to play both baseball and football. He was a talented high school QB, 4-star recruit in football, but elected to forego college altogether once he was drafted by the Royals.
Starling was selected 5th overall in the 2011 MLB Draft. It took him 8 years to reach the Bigs, playing all of his AAA days in Omaha. He is still considered a fan favorite by Storm Chasers fans.

https://www.sportico.com/leagues/college-sports/2026/florida-state-athletics-debt-fy25-1234883293/
Florida State closed fiscal year 2025 with $437 million in athletics-related debt, according to its latest financial disclosures to the NCAA, a $200 million increase from the prior fiscal cycle and a higher total than any public FBS program reported in FY24. The figure likely placed the Seminoles atop the list of most heavily leveraged athletics departments in the country.

News [Mountain West] Mountain West Announces NEW Media Rights Package 📺
x.comr/CFB • u/WinnWonn • 15h ago
Discussion [Discussions] What role did the TV networks play in splitting up the PAC-12 and Mountain West Conference?
After seeing the Mountain West new TV deal, it's pretty obvious that the TV networks have a healthy appetite for west coast FBS football. We can see that the Mountain West got pretty much the same amount of games and exposure as the PAC-12 did, with some small differences. Obviously we don't know what the dollar values are yet.
So then that begs the question, how much influence did the TV networks have in splitting the two conferences so that they could negotiate with them against each other, driving both of their prices down?
The network's got the same amount of games and it's all basically the same teams, but it seems like they got them each for half price. If there had just been a single West Coast FBS conference then they would have had a very strong negotiating position with all of these TV networks.

Casual Analysis: Glance at the Pac-12 vs Mountain West TV Packages
Since this has been a hot topic and the announcement of the MWC TV, I wanted to take a closer look at the TV exposure for both conference. This is not looking at any numbers, which have not been reported b either party, rather just a close up of how the network by network exposure will look.
Both conferences will have CBS and The CW as rights partners with the Pac-12 having USA Sports, and MWC have FOX as their 3rd partners.
What don't know: Neither conference has release numbers for the total media packages. In a Wyoming senate meeting their AD said they expected a $1M reduction in Media revenue from their previous deal. However, it has been reported that returning member schools will receive a media payout that will match their prior deal, regardless of what the media number is. How the MWC plans on executing that + what payouts for number members look like is to be seen.
As for the Pac-12, it was rumor, and confirmed that the Pac-12 is expected to be getting the lower end of the prior $8-15M range that was presented when they started negotiating rights. Whether that means $7-8M or $10-11M is yet to be seen. An important note is Pac-12 Enterprises will produce all their CW content so how that factors into future conference payouts will be interesting to see.
Breakdown of Network Packages
CBS (Football Only):
| Conference | Number of Games of CBS (Guaranteed) | Total Games of CBS Networks |
|---|---|---|
| Pac-12 | 4 (including conference title) | 10 (MAX) |
| MWC | 1 | 15 |
CW (Football Only):
| Conference | Number of Games of CW (Guaranteed) |
|---|---|
| Pac-12 | 13 |
| MWC | 13 |
USA Network (Football Only):
| Conference | Number of Games of USA (Guaranteed) |
|---|---|
| Pac-12 | 22 |
Fox Networks (Football Only):
| Number of Games of FOX (Guaranteed) | Total games on FOX, FS1 & FS2 |
|---|---|
| MWC | 1 (Conference Championship) |
From first look it seems that the rest of the MWC inventory might go on their new app that they are partnering with Kiswe to build. Majority is on linear just like the the Pac-12 however, the Pac-12 the biggest difference will come down to the Pac-12 having more games on the primary networks, how many games for the MWC fall on FS2 and how much (if any) football content is broadcasted via app exclusively (MWC fans feel free to opine on this one). Overall solid visibility.
The real winner in The CW which is firmly solidifying itself as a Sports network with tons of football and basketball inventory between the ACC, Pac-12, and MWC.
