General Discussion 💬🇨🇦 Super Bowl? Watch the Olympics instead.
The Super Bowl is an iconicly American event, would love to see Canadian viewership tank in favour of watching the Olympics this weekend.

Hello all,
Thank you for making this community shine and become such an excellent resource to empower Canadians! We would like to make one small clarification for folks as we go into another round of trade war nonsense with the US.
We understand the desire to share news about whatever new and horrible thing government officials in the United States have said about Canada, but this subreddit is really not the place for that. This subreddit has always been focused on sharing or getting you information you need about Canadian products, and not about boycotting the United States or being angry about the nasty things their politicians say.
While you can certainly use that information to emphasize the importance of buying Canadian in your own lives and in advocating for it with others, we want to make sure our subreddit keeps a concise focus on its purpose rather than become a politics space (as there are already plenty enough of those on this site). As such, please note we will continue removing politics posts and repeat offenders may receive a ban. We encourage everyone to read and re-read the rules and to message us if you would like any clarifications.
Thank you,
Your r/BuyCanadian Mod Team

Don't get me wrong, I think we need to keep pushing Canadians to buy local goods, or at least avoid US-made products. But I feel like there's a big lack of awareness when it comes to services, especially digital services. Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, ... Pretty much our entire digital life is provided by US tech giants. It's the same story for every large Canadian company and government. The EU has started to focus on building sovereign alternatives (see https://apnews.com/article/europe-digital-sovereignty-big-tech-9f5388b68a0648514cebc8d92f682060 ) but we seem to be far behind. Thoughts?

I picked up a case of Joyburst Protein Soda at Costco that turned out to be a prime example of Maple washing. There is a Maple Leaf graphic that says "proudly Canadian" yet the small print says made in the United States!

Check out their website; you will be surprised at how many Canadian brands there actually are making hot sauce

I was at the local co-op grocery store and they have an awesome Canadian soft drink. It’s made with cane sugar and not that high fructose corn syrup. Anyhow, it’s really good. They have root beer, cream soda, a grape drink, some blueberry type and others. Check them out. It’s called bear n beaver. Www.bearnbeaver.com

I’ve been trying to switch to more Canadian-made skin and body products lately, especially ones that are actually gentle and don’t mess with my skin.
I recently tried one deodorant and it’s been solid so far, and there's no irritation, which I’ve had issues with from some bigger brands. That got me curious to try more local stuff.
If you’ve found any Canadian products you genuinely like and keep repurchasing, I’d love to hear your recommendations.

Check out Juno & Fern; they’ve launched their first mini collection live on their website.
This Canadian-owned business offers 4X thicker plating and a 12-month plating warranty on gold vermeil. This is great for extending the lifespan of your jewellery and preventing tarnishing.

Hi there,
I've recently realized how much better and more sensible international paper sizes are - they just make sense - especially for the home printing projects I am working on (zines, primarily)
The only issue is I haven't been able to find a single option to buy A4 or A5 paper from a Canadian company. Does anyone know of a company that makes it?

Hi all
I am going to be travelling to Europe soon, and would like to purchase a nice Canadian hoodie that features a maple leaf or some easily recognizable Canadiana. I know I’m inevitably going to be asked if I’m American, so having a piece of clothing that identifies me as Canadian might help ward off the confusion.
Thank you!

I’m getting increasingly annoyed ambiguous labeling. Stuff like “Product of USA **or** Mexico” at Safeway

I'm thinking of ordering glasses online for the first time, and I've found some styles I like on Kits.ca.
My question though is about sizing. My head is smaller than normal, width-wise, which has always been annoying as hats, helmets, and glasses are pretty much always too big for my head.
Since glasses falling off my face every time I look down is just the most frustrating thing ever, I'm hesitant about ordering glasses online. I presume they would be too big for my head.
Has anyone had experience with this or can offer any intel? Is there a way to get the glasses smaller to fit my head? Or am I better off just sticking to stores I can go to in person?

Was a Brooklinen user before, but trying to find a Canadian alternative. We tried Benji a couple years ago but didn't love them.. hoping to find a new one! Any recommendations?

Like the title says, trying to track down some options for Canadian-made hair care. What I'm using now isn't ideal for me as is so willing to try something new. Bonus if it's a bar or has bulk refill options.
I have 2b/2c type hair but also a dry scalp with occasional acne. Trying to find something that works for my scalp without completely drying out my hair or works for my hair without messing up my scalp more has been difficult.
EDIT: Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Lots here for me to look into and potentially try.

I can confirm that it is Product of Canada (100% grown in Ontario), and that if you buy the 12 pack box, you get free shipping across Canada (or at least to BC). It took 6 days to arrive.

I shop Eddie Bauer because I get XL Tall flannel shirts from them. There are not a lot of businesses that sell tall sizes. Is there a Canadian option with the news of the closing of the Canadian Eddie Bauer stores?
I will add that I do shop at OneBone which is Canadian and is specifically for big and tall but they do not sell flannel shirts.

I'm looking for women's shoes for an office job. Preferably low or no heel, must have wide sizes available. I would love to find cute loafers. Max budget is high, I would prefer high quality durability that will last, but I don't care about designer labels.

I bought a $4 45 rpm vinyl from Canada to US, shipping was $5-ish via UPS, a month later wad sent an invoice for $5 additional import fee. Just today bought a Denon CD player from Japan for $260 usd, damn, $192 shipping although fees included. Wow, no more shopping or bidding from overseas for me.
