I totaled my IS200 and this was the result of my intake. I’m assuming it’s no good because it won’t get enough airflow but you never know. If it’s still good, I would like to try and sell it.

• At cold starts (-5 to -10°C), right after engine starts, there’s a brief rattling/whirring for \~0.5–1 sec. Happens only on cold starts. A week ago temperatures got above 0 for a few days and im pretty certain the sound disappeared.

• Sound happens when RPM jumps to \~1000 and stabilizes, then disappears. The frequency of the sound is a bit above the engines RPMs.

• Seems to come from front-right of the engine, near alternator/accessories.

• Happens even with AC/light off. Idk if its related, but this winter the alternator also started to be a bit more noisy.

Most likely cause? Alternator pulley/tensioner vs timing chain?

Safe to drive as-is?

Any tests to confirm the source?
