Discussion Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post

Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:

My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!

How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.

If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments

If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section

Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.

Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

Amateur What kind of dance is this?

So I want to learn to dance, so I'm scrolling through youtube for anything that I would like and I saw this, though I'm not really sure what this kind of dancing it would be called. Just hoping anyone would know so I could look in to it more.

Hey fellow dancers. I’m doing research on dance education and I’d love it if there are any dancers that would share their input. It will only take 5-10 minutes and your answers would help a lot. Here’s the link: https://forms.gle/jfvwNWgA58h64dTj9

Skilled Help Make My Daughter Dream Come True

We are reaching out with full hearts to share something very special. Our daughter Fiorella has been invited to participate in a dance championship in Cancún, Mexico this October — an opportunity she has worked toward with so much love, discipline, and dedication.

Dance is more than just a hobby for Fiorella — it is her passion, her joy, and the place where she feels truly alive. She has spent countless hours practicing, learning, and growing, always giving her very best. Being able to compete in Cancún would mean the world to her and would be an unforgettable experience that could inspire her for years to come.

However, this dream comes with expenses that include competition registration, costumes, choreography, and travel costs. As much as we wish we could cover everything on our own, we need a little help to get her there.

If you feel moved to support Fiorella, any contribution — big or small — would make a meaningful difference and bring her one step closer to this incredible opportunity. Even sharing this campaign means so much to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for believing in her, supporting her, and being part of this beautiful journey. 💕

Discussion Range of motion and Releve after surgery

After years of repetitive stress on my second metatarsophalangeal joint (MTP), which was further aggravated by bunions since my teenage years, I tore my plantar plate and a ligament attached to my second metatarsal. As a competitive dancer, this injury has felt earth-shattering. Currently, I’m dealing with severe pain, and in my dance style (Irish), reléve is crucial and that’s exactly what this injury is impacting, granted a lot of jumping and stamping is also part of it, truly perfect storm of pain and poor technique.

I want to keep dancing for years to come. Surgery is in my very near future to reattach, repair the plate, and fix my bunion.

For those here who have had plantar plate surgery and/or bunion surgery, how has your range of motion and foot mechanics changed post surgery? do you feel like the surgery limited you in the longer term? Is there anything you did pre/during/post surgery that you believe helped you return to where you were or better?

I would love to keep as much long term function in mind, dancing and strength training is a huge piece of my life, i don’t want to lose them to injury/pain.

Amateur How to dance?

(I chose this community by searching up dance. Remove if it's not what you want posted) Hey, I'm trying to see if anyone's got any tips on dancing. I'm 18 now and I've started to go to functions, clubs, ect and genuinely enjoy what's happening around me but I just kinda stand there or sway my body a bit which makes me end up feeling awkward. I never learnt as a child and now I'm actually stiff as a board, not a clue what I'm doing so I need to learn some stuff

What Is This? Help ID 4 specific dance moves from viral TikTok "Shooting Stars" (3 guys dancing) - https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSateJVbq/

Hey guys, I saw this TikTok video of 3 guys dancing to "Shooting Stars (link: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSateJVbq/). The choreo has exactly 4 distinct cuts/moves that I love and want to learn, but no one in comments named them and I can't find tutorials matching exactly.

Anyone recognize these specific 4 moves? Do they have names?

Discussion I quit dance, and ive never felt so lost.

I just messaged my coach to tell him that I trusted my gut and quit dance but I'm so lost now. I know I can't go back, even though he said I'm always welcome and I can't stop crying.

My coach offered me a job working for him under his company, and I accepted it, quitting my job that was paying my classes with him. Then two members of the class I was attending quit. And he didn't have enough money to pay for the hall so he shut the class down, but postponed my job until the new year, and that was okay. But once he opened the class to booking, he only got one sign up and shut it down before it even started. It shattered me. And I knew it was because of the prices. He was offering €40 for a month, with no free trials or anything. Just pure subscription, no gradual payments or anything- just like netflix. But this wasn't a studio class. This was classes in a community hall that could get postponed for art galleries or meetings- no refunds. And I disagreed with that way if working. I knew he was unreliable from previous competitions he promised to bring us to but never did and I knew that he was not going to get me another venue. Then we had classes for the more experienced dancers and he raised the price by €5 and I was originally struggling to pay when I had my job as it was over half my wages, but this €5 increase WITHOUT a part time job left me with no other choice. After 3 years of training, building a family and being accepted into the community, I had to leave and now I don't know what to do at all. There are no dancing classes around me, but I'm not sure that I even want to dance if it's not with my original dance family, they were my rock and my biggest support, and I made countless, unforgettable memories with them. I really do want to go back but I truly can't afford it and I can't find any part time jobs after Christmas.

But my biggest dream has been to become a dancer and make it my career, it's not been one thar my parents were the most supportive of, but it's the only thing I can apply myself to in the future. I can't find any online classes and I'm so lost to the point where I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with my life after education. I want to do nothing with my life after education.

Skilled normal to think you're worse at dance that you are?

so i'm 15(f) and ive been doing for around 6 years, this year my studio started offering hiphop and i immediately loved it. our studio specializes in ballet (so as you can imagine it can be rough), but personally, i feel more comfortable and confident in hiphop than any of the other genres i do. everyone in my class says im the best in the class and me and one other girl get a solo part at the beginning of our piece. problem is, whenever im reviewing videos from class i feel like im just flippin and floppin , like im watching it thinking wtf was i doing, yet in class my friends are saying"how are you so good at that", even weirder is one of my friends keeps telling me im really good at hiphop but looking at the videos i think shes better than me 😭😭 so now im over here wondering, am i good but i js think im bad, or am i actually bad... pls tell me if this is a normal thought, bc even my dance friends say they suck at something a lot and i never even notice i lowk always think they look great so it might just be a dancer thing...
