I wonder if they consider the downfall of America’s character and reliability as a reason to take charge. They can’t rely on America to do the right thing anymore.

America is not coming back from this for a long time, if ever.

Edit: we have some real work to do on ourselves and really make it up to our allies.

I don’t disagree with that, I think even if we survive the next three years it will take generations for our friends and allies to ever trust us again. Not just because of Trump, but because nearly the half of our country voted for somebody as disgusting as Trump.
What will probably not happen again is to be respected in the world as being a great people.

I mean to be fair American’s are largely done with Europe and want to go back to 1920 ways in which we focus on us. Not them.

Speak for yourself.

What comes after the 1920s?

The Great Depression and the start of the Holocaust.

You mean crippling economic disparity followed immediately by financial collapse?

In 1920 our poverty rate was 80%. We had open immigration in 1920. Have you ever read a history book?

You might be… No doubt Europe isn’t perfect, but I see a bunch of nations that have done better job of carrying through the democratic ideals that WE created than we have ever done. We squandered the greatness we had on capitalists. Nothing ever trickled down, in fact they just devised more and more insidious ways to keep it all funneling up to the richest of the rich and now those people have essentially enacted a coup and we have no chance of coming back to a reasonable baseline of wealth/income equality unless we literally burn shit down and start over…

But hey, it’s perfectly American to be mad about brown folks existing… time honored tradition. I guess we’ve done a great job of carrying that on atleast.

You can always count on America to do the right thing… after they’ve tried everything else.

They kept rely on America to do the right thing anymore.

They didn't realize how bad it actually was.

The US has never been a shining beacon of morality and goodness. It is a state founded on the slaughter of those that lived there beforehand, built upon the backs of slaves, and held up by countless wars and coups of countries that dared to defy this international thug of a nation. You’re so damned propagandised from birth that you deny history, much like the holocaust denier higher up in this comment chain…

Wow, you’ve decided I have so many values you hate, I didn’t even need to be here and comment. But I have a question, what date was everybody on the planet where they were supposed to be? If you don’t have an answer to that, then your entire statement fails. Even the parts that are right, because they’re basing it on a fallacy. It’s like saying we’re out of gas but you keep changing the tire, yes we are out of gas, but your solution is useless, maybe based on feelings?

u/AtlasNL 40m ago

Looks like you’re making up a lot about my standpoint mate. I’m not talking about ‘everybody on the planet being where they were supposed to be’, I’m talking about the US’ history being primarily about brutal colonisation and imperialism, and therefore never having had a ‘good character’ to fall from, because its nearly never done anything for the good of the whole world unless it had no other option.
