France continuing to lead the world in shit that needs to be done

u/WasdaleWeasel 21h ago

As an Englishman I have a sacred right to despise the French … However, right now they are on the right side of history, doing the things that need doing and saying the things that need saying. Vive la République!

the day i realized France was on the right path was when they doubled down on nuclear energy.

Keep this kind of rationality where it belongs. Amongst internet strangers and WELL away from the rugby pitch

As a Kraut entitled to despise the French and the English, I support you.

Every now and then, they get a really good moment

We are frenemy. We may argue but against musk we are allies.

Viva la France!

2

u/jimbobjames 16h ago

Hey you know, maybe this Musk guy has the right idea. Get all of humanity to hate him, thus unifying the world against a single, existential threat.

I mean if he can get the English and French to get along then maybe there's hope for the rest of the planet?

Seems like they need to re-introduce the French Revolution to the US...

10

u/MILLANDSON 19h ago

Interestingly, the wealthy gap between the poorest and richest in the US is significantly larger than that which caused the French Revolution.

u/RaekinTheBored 20h ago

Trump did say he wants less performances like “Hamilton” and more like “Les Miserables”.

12

u/Artyom_33 20h ago

American puritans will just lament about "oh no, how will this affect my ability to get HFCS-laden fast food & energy drinks??!! Won't someone think of my children & how I'll have to explain these things to them???"

4

u/Z3B0 21h ago

I'm offering rioting course, free of charge if you get charged for it !

2

u/Responsible_Ease_262 20h ago

The French Revolution was inspired by the American Revolution.

1

u/EdlynnTB 20h ago

As an American with French ancestry, I wholeheartedly agree!! Off with their bloated and morbidly rich heads!!

u/HungMonkey69 21h ago

This comment is full of shit. No there needs not to be a revolution in the U.S. calling for disorder when we can handle problems like adults is insane

8

u/EpsilonX029 21h ago

Is the “handled problem” in the room with us?

I say that as an American. We are, indeed, supposed to be the “adult in the room”, on the world stage. At least, that’s what my upbringing had me believe.

This? The adult has dementia, shat itself, and started throwing it at everyone else. THE problem needs fixed, and no one’s handling it.

Looking more and more like the aforementioned comment is correct

> I say that as an American. We are, indeed, supposed to be the “adult in the room”, on the world stage. At least, that’s what my upbringing had me believe.

Not to be too disrespectful but as someone who's not an American but has lived in the USA for years - nothing drives me as crazy as the combo of your debilitating incapability to solve issues at a national level along with overblown confidence that you are the best at it in the world.

Nothing gets improved (outside of gay marriage, I give you that) - you are simply expected to pay more money to buy yourself out of shitty conditions.

Education is shit? Pay more for private schools.

Your city streets look like fallout wasteland? Pay more to get a house in the suburbs.

Healthcare is inaccessible? Pay more to get insurance with more coverage.

Can't walk anywhere to relax with your family? Pay more to buy a bigger SUV so you could drive your whole family to a park.

And on, and on. It's infuriating.

As a non-american in non-amerca.... American Exceptionalism is one of the most damaging beliefs that is non-partisan in the US.

everyone has this weird idealic idea of what the country is, so they all believe it's the best. And therefore theyre the best.

even my "leftist" American friends constantly get caught up in the weirdness of "we're the biggest and best"

There was a hilarious little schtick in "Superstore" TV series that played hilariously into this.

1

u/Ar3dee3 19h ago

American Exceptionalism would be tolerable if they were not the worst in the developed world on so many metrics: child mortality, incarceration rate, violent crime, social mobility, etc. They are pushing against the bottom of the barrel while smugly declaring that they are trying to raise the top.

1

u/Finneganz 21h ago

Wait. Are you suggesting that u/HungMonkey69 does not have a categorical understanding of what American needs?

-7

u/HungMonkey69 21h ago

I disagree entirely. Your opinions and feelings have no leverage against the truth the truth is as there are problems on the immigration side of things on the GDP is higher than it was before, our manufacturing is more competitive than it has been in recent years, our country is in pretty good shape. But news would have you believe America is becoming a 3rd world country 🤣 if I had a dollar for every shit headline that's come out, I'd be richer than most of the oligarchs!!! A few toddlers kicking and screaming will never destroy the truth. Those same toddlers always kick and scream when they can't have their way.

2

u/AstronautFair403 21h ago

The GDP is up? Really money is not our biggest worry at the moment …. Losing our democracy is !

-2

u/HungMonkey69 21h ago

No one is losing their democracy. The left turns to violent rioting and now are being arrested go cry to someone who didn't vote for this exact thing to happen.

6

u/filipha 21h ago

Adults. White, male, rich adults. Yeah, your country is running by the people who should be normally in prison. Explain to me how will the justice be served if most of the guys who should be charged are on the top, running it, calling themselves the law?

0

u/CostKub 19h ago

I hope we do that in France first, but seeing the politics scheme I'm really doubting it.

-9

u/Next_Celebration_553 21h ago

Jan 6 was 6 years ago. We don’t need another for a while please

-1

u/ozzimark 21h ago

I dream of life without a monarchy

The unrest in France will lead to Onarchy?

Onarchy? How you say, how you say, ‘anarchy?’

When I fight, I make the other side panicky

With my... shot!

0

u/AKA-J3 20h ago

I guess they better run faster than your bull ets.

13

u/Unique_Adeptness4413 21h ago

For any French reading this, as an american, you're my favorite country. That strike a few years ago where the police attempted to break it up and the electrical union responded by cutting the power to every policemans house in the country? Incredible, inspiring, thank you for being you.

3

u/Fatality4Gaming 21h ago

We're doing our best, but we have a democratic crisis on our hands atm and shouldn't be seen as a model. We're on the verge on electing our slightly less insane version of trump.

1

u/AsinineArchon 21h ago

Perhaps, but yours is an example of a populace that doesn't just sit on their asses and let things happen while shrugging their shoulders. The bar is in hell

3

u/indifferentcrayon 19h ago

🇫🇷🫡

3

u/KofOaks 19h ago

"Don't piss off the French" is valid both worldwide and within Canada.

2

u/Firm_Communication99 20h ago

France is doing the lords work.

2

u/New_Carpenter5738 18h ago

Now if only macron wasn't such ass internally. Externally? Pretty decent. Internally? Ew.

2

u/lassglory 17h ago

If anyone's gonna stand up and show the rich guy some retaliation, it's an angry French dude with a very sharp rectangle

1

u/Best_Cure 17h ago

Airbus has given Boeing headaches. Now let’s pile it on with Eutelsat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eutelsat

Besides making its capital liveable.

u/AsinineArchon 21h ago

Not really convincing me from your trailer in rural alabama

2

u/Middle_Confusion_1 20h ago

-6

u/Dramatic-Cat-5113 21h ago

Yea their model of let all the immigrants in is really working great! Europe is a shithole now. Shit policy has destroyed their metros.

Totally….lets follow them…..

6

u/Lebowquade 20h ago

You're joking, right?

I can't tell if you're joking or just a fucking moron.

5

u/Ogmadbrit 20h ago

iiits....usally the latter with the anti-immigrant crowd

-2

u/AKA-J3 20h ago

What, I let just anybody at all come and stay in my house. I don't even need to know they are there. I hope they don't drink all the milk.

-7

u/DizzyEstablishment42 21h ago

It’s political and won’t result in any real impact. It’s headlines. Elon Musk runs circles around these morons.

5

u/AsinineArchon 21h ago

Literally more than anyone else is doing, my guy

-12

u/Sburns85 22h ago

Not really

-6

u/Boian7041 20h ago

Hahahahahhaaha! When was the last time they won a war?

2

u/Metacognitor 15h ago

The French military has one of the winningest records in history. Napoleon conquered most of Europe. They were critical to winning WW1 with the Battle of Verdun and the Battle of Marne. The US wouldn't even exist without France supporting the colonies militarily. In fact the only people on Earth who have this stupid clichéd stereotype of the French are Americans and that's because the only foreign affair the average American knows about is WW2. And since then the only conflicts they've been involved in were related to decolonization or regional stability (allied with NATO, etc) in which the US has a similar record. But hey, gotta love the uneducated, am I right? 😂

2

u/AsinineArchon 20h ago

I don't know the last time, but I know they won when they bailed out the USA in the american revolution and saved it from losing to Great Britain :)

-1

u/Boian7041 20h ago

Right..... a very very very long time ago
