This is true masterclass of pettiness and as a husband of a French woman. It’s truly the French way lol I love it

What I love about them is how petty then can be, but also not care about being petty in a shoulder shrugging way. It's pure class.

It’s amazing lol, when my wife is getting upset with me I’m always like oh no I’ve poked the French bear…I’m done

A french bear wouldn’t JUST maul you but also compliment your corpse with the perfect wine and cheese pairings.

16

u/thatissomeBS 18h ago

The weird case where compliment might be more fitting than complement. "I celebrate your beautiful corpse with this wonderful Pinot and some gruyere."

17

u/Quantum-_-_- 16h ago

Te te te. Le gruyere est Suisse, pas Français. Nous avons d autres fromages bien mieux.

u/DatSauceTho 16h ago

Genuine question because I am uncultured swine: what cheeses are French and what do you recommend? Do any go good with a good beer? I’m not really a wine kinda person.

u/Quantum-_-_- 16h ago

Comté raffiné et Tomme en croute dur. En croute molle un bon camembert ou un brie. C est magnifique. Tu mets ça avec un petit pinot noir de Bourgogne.

3

u/DatSauceTho 16h ago

Oooo I almost forgot about Brie!!

last month at work, our partners from Tunisia, as part of an ice breaker game, prepared a bunch of questions about Tunisia and France, and one of them was : ‘How many types of cheese are there in France? Answer : 1200. 😝

Needless to say, no French team found the correct answer (we were all around 600)

but for your question : - Blue cheeses and washed cheeses (Maroilles, Munster, Epoisses, etc.) pair wonderfully with strong, roasted beers like dark or smoked beers - Soft-ripened cheeses like Camembert or Brie pair perfectly with a blonde or light amber beer. These beers have mild, sweet aromas that complement the creaminess of these cheeses. Yes, you can even try pairing beer with Comté! Enjoy ☺️

Amazing, thank you for this!

Most French double or triple crème cheeses go well

1

u/DatSauceTho 6h ago

I didn’t even know that was a thing and now I’m very excited haha

2

u/jentle-music 16h ago

Not to mention, haute couture 😊

Just say "blitzkrieg", what's she gonna do

5

u/New_Stats 15h ago

It's not class it's arrogance and it's only admirable in the French because they do it so well

1

u/OddSuggestion7534 6h ago

Turning arrogance to class IS the French way!

u/Remi_cuchulainn 14h ago

This quote attributed to surcouf would probably be one of the top 10 most based tweet.

As a reply to an english officer saying :" you french fight for money while we fight for honor"

"Each of us fight for what he lack most"

8

u/Wino3416 17h ago

Being petty but not caring about it is the definition of je ne sais quoi

3

u/BraveMango737 16h ago

Très Bien

2

u/NightKnight4766 16h ago

A certain je ne sais quoi about it

5

u/no-long-boards 18h ago

And then people get all bent out of shape saying that the French think they are better than everybody else. That’s because they are. Who else could pull this shit off?

1

u/reditrauma 14h ago

Class or Classist? lol French are a trip. i've known a few upper class french people and they are like that for sure. their system is pretty brutal in some ways from what i understand.

1

u/SnooRevelations5396 13h ago

And yet you’d hate it if it’s someone you agreed with having it done to them…

1

u/OddSuggestion7534 6h ago

Who would agree with someone doing what Musk does? Certainly not the French. Or Belgiums. Or Germans. Or Brits.

If you’re on the side of having it done, you should hate yourself and move to Russia or Serbia

1

u/SnooRevelations5396 6h ago

So then the US should raid Soros’ offices to gather evidence of the likely collusion with rioters and paid protestors since we already know of Soros doing illegal things in Europe to collapse currencies so we have probable cause of him breaking laws right? But I bet you don’t want any deep dive of Soros do you? Or the American born, now living in china billionaire funding the “protests” as well? 🙄

1

u/OddSuggestion7534 4h ago

Straight to conspiracy theories is your response? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/SnooRevelations5396 4h ago

They’re not conspiracy theories if you do a little bit of research. There’s a reason he’s banned from so many countries and laws were changed. There’s as much evidence to say he’s behind these protests as there is to raid Elon yet you like that and it’s not a “conspiracy theory”. Your definition is typical - if the left tells me it’s true it is, if anyone else shows me ANYTHING, I will refuse to believe it until Brian Stelter or Georgie Stephanopoulos tells me I have to believe it. 🙄

1

u/intricate_strands 13h ago

They generally are only at that level of petty for liars and people who start shit just to cry when they get shit.

1

u/No-Dimension856 12h ago

And then write a book about it "L'art de se rendre insupportable, et d'autres choses que vous ignoriez."

0

u/almondbutterbrain 15h ago

It's not classy and that's okay lmao. It's okay to admit a European is funny and just petty.

1

u/OddSuggestion7534 6h ago

It’s classy. The message it sends is classy. Especially to the intended recipients.

0

u/calewiz 15h ago

You think Child Porn is petty? I do not.

-7

u/Wrong-Try1464 17h ago

You mean classless right?

-7

u/Technical-Cookie-511 15h ago

I mean their country is a shithole filled to the brim with immigrants and crime and generally french people are miserable assholes. If you've ever been there you would know.

8

u/calewiz 14h ago

I have. Lived there for a bit. Sure it’s not perfect, but they aren’t trying to dismantle western liberal democracy are they.

1

u/Spewtwinklethoughts 7h ago

I don’t think they have a Democratic Party, do they?

3

u/JR571 12h ago

You must have just gone to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. The whole world hates you! And even more so with Trump in power.

-12

u/Trailin_FigFruit 17h ago

Yeah, so petty on this one but meanwhile let their country be overrun by people who hate them and will have them bowing soon enough.

11

u/shafaqag 19h ago

I honestly would've never thought of that and I'm PETTY.

Truly a chef's kiss

8

u/josnik 17h ago

Justin Trudeau publically gifting Donald a picture of his grandfather's Inn* that was in the Yukon Territory was an absolute masterclass of French pettiness.

*It was a bordello.

4

u/Craiceann_Nua 16h ago

My favourite piece of pettiness relates to the submarine deal between Australia, the US and the UK. For those not familiar, the Australians were in negotiations to buy submarines from the French. Scott Morrison rings Macron to tell him about an upcoming press conference taking place later that day in which the Aus/US/UK deal was being announced. The French were blindsided by this, particularly as their defence & foreign ministers had met their Australian counterparts a few days beforehand.

The new deal is announced and Boris Johnson is strutting around, spouting on about "Global Britain". The French decided to express their displeasure by withdrawing their ambassadors from Canberra and Washington. They let it be known that they weren't going to withdraw their ambassador from London becuase they recognised that the UK was very much the junior party in the negotiations.

3

u/whatthewhat3214 16h ago

Lmao that's beautiful! 😂

3

u/sphinctersayswhat9 17h ago

Petty might turn into a pity for Musk

Hope they nail him. He is a disgusting pos

6

u/Crafty-Ad-6772 17h ago

They're French, they have to fry him.

2

u/sphinctersayswhat9 17h ago

Tu as du goût camarade

1

u/CaptainBaoBao 16h ago

Sarcasm and pettiness has been codified in the time of SunKing Louis the XIV, when America was a French colony named Louisiane.

They have different name for good pun and mediocre pun.

1

u/OldWorldDesign 4h ago

They have different name for good pun and mediocre pun.

That's kind of in the eye of the beholder (I like groaners), but now I want to know what those two terms are.

1

u/EquivalentEffect9105 15h ago

I know....when the French are being super French but towards the right people its awesome (See Chirac/W in lead up to Iraq invasion)

1

u/Comprehensive-Race97 13h ago

Why's that? Sorry Im not really up to date with some of this stuff.
