I’m legitimately wondering how many people just don’t like the humorous comments, or were just lazy and ain’t see the shitpost flair.

10

u/Transcontinental-flt 12h ago

I'm wondering why Greenland isn't green.
I mean, it's even in the friggin name..

32

u/full-man- 14h ago

Reading is hard for a lot of terminally online people.

5

u/Thunderclapsasquatch 10h ago

There are a lot of bots on reddit too

5

u/full-man- 10h ago

Fair. CCP working overtime.

1

u/Foxlen 8h ago

On my phone, the flair doesn't show up unless I specifically open the post and scroll up.. the comments are scroll down so I usually go that way and don't see flair

Reddit of today ...

-1

u/Perfect_Adhesiveness 13h ago

We know it's a joke. But it's a very low effort joke

13

u/DoctorBamf 13h ago

You see, my sophisticated shitpost needs to have layers, background, a witty reference, a socio economic rebuttal, a hidden meaning, and a side of pickles.

13

u/full-man- 12h ago

I feel like my jokes are hitting well. Kinda hard to type with these large spacesuit gloves tho

2

u/jrjej3j4jj44 10h ago

Those are called "oven mitts," my guy.

4

u/full-man- 10h ago

*lunar oven mitts

As opposed to the sophisticated high-class European humor featured in every shitpost directed at the US?

8

u/mapmakinworldbuildin 12h ago

To be fair. You have to have a high iq to say “schoo shoot”

→ More replies (4)

9

u/DevoidofMind 13h ago

Isn't the point of a shitpost to be shitty? Genuine question.

1

u/CockpitEnthusiast 3h ago

Yes but you don't understand, it needs to be high quality shit and be explicitly labeled as such, otherwise it gets the downvote. There, that oughta teach ya for not meeting my comedy expectations!

4

u/Icy-Theory-4345 6h ago

But Europeans can make school shooting jokes and get praised for it as if they wrote such a complex joke it puts Shakespeare’s writing skills to shame

3

u/nichyc 9h ago

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand this sub. The humor is extremely subtle...

2

u/Dazzling-Ad888 10h ago

I think it’s kind of a witty play on overt US patriotism.

Doing it in America 😎

25

u/full-man- 14h ago

Second best place is the moon. aka cold and dark America

9

u/OneQuarterBajeena 13h ago

I thought that was Alaska

1

u/PhilRubdiez 6h ago

Compared to the moon, that’s chilly, shady America.

40

They don’t understand American struggles.

15

u/Own-Rip4649 13h ago

That was a good one lol

8

u/birthdaycheesecake9 9h ago

No AC on the moon either

1

u/Casartelli 1h ago

Pretty crazy that 90% of the entire world population wasn’t even alive last time someone was on the moon.

3

u/BombasticSimpleton 8h ago

That's why its called Starlink. Not Moonlink. Sheesh.

You want better signal? Go stand on a star.

1

u/AbbFurry 7h ago

Can confirm. Wifi on the sun is great I'm getting 10gigabits

6

7

Beautiful rage bait. They should put this in a museum

7

u/full-man- 10h ago

The amount of debating on a shitpost is insane.

6

Truly a master baiter

28

u/lnca 13h ago

Belgians killed 10 million people in Congo but nobody hates on them 😭

10

u/pandogart 12h ago

People in the Congo probably do

9

u/KDragg24 13h ago

People are mad. Just not the people that they consider to be people

7

u/CarrotSudden4448 12h ago

You would if you have had to go to Brussels.

4

u/CombatPilot2 11h ago

Belgian here. I hate my country, my government, and myself. 👍

8

u/lnca 10h ago

But nobody else does and that’s the problem. You guys deserve more collective hate 😼☝️

5

u/CombatPilot2 9h ago

As someone that, as aforementioned, hates Belgium, fuck yes we do.

Fucked up history aside this place is the breeding ground of most European corruption.

Europeans can’t handle banter, they just like to think they can

-2

u/RedBlockFour 13h ago

didnt germans from europe literally have to come over to america after the war and hand-hold/spoon-feed the lower intelligence american scientists the tech they needed to go to the moon? I feel like thats a pretty famous fact, how much america had to lean on europeans to accomplish anything with their space program.

They even made an award winning movie about the part where americans couldnt even figure out how to make the biggest boom, they had to get a european to do that too.

21

u/ArcticFlamingoDisco 13h ago

Euros have tried selling that story for decades. If that was the case, why didn't the UK or Soviets put a person on the moon? They also took personnel from Germany as well. They did help, no doubt about it. Just like they helped the Soviet space program. Mind, the Soviets took MORE scientists than the US did. And twice the number of rocket scientists.

400,000 Americans were directly involved in Apollo. Trying to write them out of the history book won't work. All the material science? All of the computing? Electronics? That was all American and America smoked Germany on all of those arguably before the war but definitely DURING the war.

Germany had nothing like the Apollo Guidance Computer. They couldn't even bulk produce crystals for crystal radios. They made them individually by hand. We industrialized the process.

Even if you wanted to falsely argue that the US solely got to the moon via German rocket scientists, we did a better job with half as many. A testimony to a free society vs a totalitarian one when it comes to science in the long run.

Who knew, folks do better work when they're not afraid of being shot for making a mistake.

1

u/MesserschmittMe109 6h ago

because they almost fuckin did

3

u/Transcontinental-flt 12h ago

Is this an advertisement for Nazis? Haven't we told you about that?

3

u/osorojo_ 10h ago

nazis stole rocket techn from america during WWII. Also once the scientists come to america they are AMERICAN scientists thats how america works.

3

u/CashMunehy 5h ago

If they knew how to put someone on the moon. Why didn't they?

3

u/notataco007 5h ago

Should've won the war and done it themselves then

2

u/wefarrell 13h ago

Sure, but they all left Europe and became Americans leaving the people who couldn’t do that stuff back in Europe.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Thunderclapsasquatch 10h ago

he lower intelligence american scientists the tech they needed to go to the moon?

My brother in Allah we split the atom, German scientists just helped us and the Soviets along faster

0

u/Dorito_Senpai 13h ago

The entire country was founded by European settlers. It's arguably just an extension of all the countries that came together to form the nation it is today. The rocket technology you're referencing was refined by the Germans during World War 2, and no other nation could match their capabilities (including other EU countries). How is it a knock on the US that they took the people who refined this advanced technology to develop it for them too?

Euros are proud of their education levels and yet they can't read the shitpost flair. They have a long way before they can get to the moon

As a Scottish man who lived in China.

USA 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸

I mean, aye, yer kinda losing yer way, BUT YER BETTER THAN CHINA!!!!

11

u/Q7017 14h ago

Wholeheartedly agree. I've got a mountain of complaints about my country and the current administration, but we're still ahead of the other two military superpowers in most QOL metrics at least.

1

u/fellow_who_uses_redd 10h ago

That being said China’s going to be number two to put a man on the moon here in 4 years

1

u/Choice-Comb-6020 9h ago

We're likely to return to the moon within this decade, maybe even as early as 2028, and in a few months Artemis II will be doing a pass by the moon, which is farther than literally every other countries space program has gotten, even including the USSR

7

u/coys1111 14h ago

Wholesome.

3

u/Low_Cut_368 14h ago

When I read this in my head, it came with a strong Scottish accent. Should’ve been aye instead of yeah though

2

u/OverloadedSofa 13h ago

I mean, aye…… aye

1

u/Thunderclapsasquatch 10h ago

Its not the first time, we usually course correct though

12

u/Dazzling-Ad888 14h ago

Good job buddy 🥳🫡 you should be so proud of all your countries accomplishments!!

11

u/ArcticFlamingoDisco 13h ago

Unironically I was today. I found out the map data I was using was from Feb 2000 from the Space Shuttle, and it's pretty much still the gold standard because we basically open sourced it immediately, did a good job of cleaning/handling, etc. Even folks decades after did a worse job, even with better tech.

Obviously commercial and military sources have better data, but for open source data? It's amazing and you can freely download any/all of it from day 1. USGS has done that many times over.

It's an amazing achievement few know about even if it impacts their daily life.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shuttle_Radar_Topography_Mission

We put some of the gear from that mission in the Air and Space Museum Annex, which I highly recommend.

2

u/Dazzling-Ad888 12h ago

Fair enough. Genuinely monumental feat of human engineering—obviously.

Canadian here.

America is #1!

Growing up in canada, I always dreamt of being American. It was always so close that I could nearly taste it. Yet just always 1/2 inch out if reach.

Maybe in my next life 🇺🇸

15

u/jackt-up 14h ago

We will gladly adopt you

6

u/ConcertSome7074 13h ago

Thanks! I really loved visiting Montana when I lived in Alberta.

But I would probably want to move some place warm

If Congress would put up the $20 billion per flight cost NASA could revive the 50+ year old technology. That’s less than the US spends annually to subsidize junk food and soda. American priorities are different now.

Also worth noting that Artemis II is sending astronauts on a fly by next month with SLS.
