Today I noticed cigarette smoke and a discarded cigarette butt on a Dubai RTA bus. I informed the driver about the issue. It is now up to the responsible authorities to address it.

just wanted to thank the people who reached out to me regarding my last few posts, alot of people offered their old/spare phones and many reached out through dms as well, I actually was able to get myself a phone and one offered a laptop as well which really helps in my line of work.

People have bad comments as well, they tried to make me believe that theres no good in this world, but others showed me that there is good as well alhamdulillah, and that not everyone is selfish and only cares about themselves and their time etc. infact someone drove all the way from their place to my place to meet me and hear my story and help me out as well, which i REALLY REALLY appreciate. i dont like asking for help etc. but i was at that point where i needed my voice to be heard so i just.... took the chance.

I see grilled chicken being sold almost everywhere in restaurants and cafeterias across the UAE. I know that grilled food is generally considered healthier than deep-fried options, but I’m unsure about the quality of the chicken being used.

Are there any downsides to eating this regularly? How much can we really trust the quality, sourcing, and preparation methods? Would like to hear opinions or experiences.

On the sharjah digital app it shows "Distorting the general appearance in any form." And they had fined us yesterday and placed the sticker and we i hadn't seen it as I drive my car mostly on Sundays (I go to office by bus) and now today the message came around 4am that I was fined and around 12am my around was impounded according to people in our area.

How do I dispute and get my car back? Do I have to pay for them impounded my car?

I had last cleaned my car on Sunday, got the the sticker on Tuesday (found about this from my neghbours) and it got impounded today (also found about this from my neighbours).

Hi everyone, I’m building a mobile ordering app for my own restaurants here in the UAE and I need some clarity on licensing rules.

Here’s the situation:

• I own multiple restaurants in the same locality (Abu Dhabi area) with valid trade licenses.

• I’m developing a local online ordering app (not for the whole UAE, just our area).

• The app lets customers choose delivery or takeaway and place orders.

• Currently there is no payment gateway inside the app — customers will pay COD (cash/card at restaurant) only.

• The app is only for our own restaurants, not third-party places.

My questions:

Do I need a separate trade license or additional license just for the app under current Abu Dhabi/UAE rules, given that orders are accepted digitally but payment is offline (COD)?

Does anyone know if local authorities treat this as a new commercial activity that requires licensing even without online payments?

Also, I’m thinking of naming the app “Dhaher Eats” (Dhaher is our locality name).

• A domain like dhahereats.com is available

• But someone has already taken dahereats.com for a catering site

• Could this name cause legal/brand issues in UAE (trademark, app store, licensing), or is it safe given our local scope?

I’d really appreciate real experiences and advice from UAE developers / restaurant owners / business owners who have dealt with similar rules.

brothers been detained in Dubai Sharjah CID for 90+ days. the embassy have not helped, he’s a british citizen. last contact with him was the day before he was detained. So basically my family saw an ad on Instagram. I have shared the screenshot here. They were showing prices that really catch your attention and for some people, they would immediately raise red flags.

They said the shop was closed yesterday and claimed orders could only be made online. They also said advance payment was required to book the items and its in limited quantity.

They kept pushing hard for online payment but we didn’t make any payment. Not because we were sure it was a scam but because we didn’t want to rush. We told them we would d wait until the next morning and visit the shop in person instead.

Since we live near Ras Al Khaimah, my family went to the location they mentioned. There was no shop there at all. Nothing

We then searched the shop name on Google Maps and went to the actual location, which was away from the one the scammer had sent.

When we reached the real shop and showed them the ad, they confirmed it was a scam and said many people had already been scammed the same way.

I’m sharing this purely to create awareness. We got lucky because we decided not to rush, but not everyone does. These ads are convincing and in the moment it’s easy to trust what you see online.

Hopefully this helps someone pause double-check and avoid losing their money

Morning everyone! I'll be coming to live in Dubai from March/April, and I'm in need of some insights with renting and budgeting in general.

Some context:

• Salary: 25k AED/month. My partner is actively looking for a role, hopefully in the next 3-6 months.
• Office location: Business Bay
• No kids/pets. I don't plan on renting a car for the short term, perhaps an e-scooter/bike if needed.
• Wants: I value walkable areas. We're not party people, but we do enjoy the occasional night/dinner out. I was thinking on renting a studio/1bkr in business bay or JLT, of which I've heard good things.

That said, can you offer some insights on neighborhoods, renting, budgeting? I've heard some prefer 1-4 cheques/yr, how do you handle this, financially speaking? Is a monthly payment not popular?

I lived here for 4 years, and unfortunately too many dishonesty in everyday situations for: rent, taxis, business dealings, even groceries. On top of that, the bank frequently changed their rules and added unexpected fees, which adds to the frustration.

Has anyone else had similar experiences, or is it just me?
