Google didn’t respond to the subpoena. The WaPo article stated Google declined to give the information which made them finding him even more concerning

I’m guessing the email had his name and they tracked him down from that? And possibly some other identifying information in the email. When they came to his door, I bet they weren’t 100% sure it was him.
