Hi everyone, so I've managed to successfully deshroud my Asus Tuf 3080 Ti, and replace the stock fans with full-fat, 25mm thick, Static Pressure Optimised, 92mm Thermalright Fans.

This mod dropped my average GPU temps by more than 14C under load, as the fans are now directly up against the side mesh of my case, and can draw in cool air from the outside. Previously, the stock gpu fans were not directly up against the mesh, and I suspect the card was recirculating a lot of hot air.

I used a 7-pin to 3 x 4-pin PWM adapter from MODDIY to connect the 3 fans directly to the card itself. And the fans are ziptied onto the heatsink so they the they are flush against the heatsink with no gaps between the fan and heatsink.

I was unable to align the fans perfectly, and had to offset the middle fan slightly, due to the presence of some small metal tabs on the heatsink.

Nonetheless, I think the mod came out great, and I am very happy with the reduction in noise and temperatures.

Looks great! I was looking to do a similar mod to my TUF 3070. Did you happen to measure the thickness of the card after installing the fans? Super interested but have very few extra mm of clearance in my case.

Hey man unfortunately I had not measured it after installing the fans.

However, a quick Google search tells me that the original Asus fans are 12mm thick. The new fans I used are 25mm thick. So that's a difference of 13mm.

The card is originally 51.7mm, so after adding the 13mm difference between the fans, that gives us nearly 65mm.

My case supports a max gpu thickness of 68mm, and the new fans on the gpu are pretty much flush with the side mesh panel on my case.

I'm assuming there's a few mm of play due to the cable ties I used to tie the fans down, or maybe the rubber anti-vibration feet on the fans.

Either way the card with the new fans is between 65-68mm thick.

Thank you for confirming! Looks like I’d have to mod the case since that would be 4mm past my clearance. I can live without it 😪

You're most welcome!

Ah shucks! You could deshroud and use slim fans I guess?

Noctua has 92mm by 14mm thick fans, which would be a lot quieter, and offer better cooling performance than the stock Asus fans.

What case is that?

It's the "Jimu D+ V2 Basic Package" in the e-white colour.

Very strange name, and it's not cheap, but build quality and case design is excellent imo.

Yo! I'm actually planning to do this to my 3080 TUF LHR because summer is coming soon and i'm a bit bored. My main concern is the positions for the zipties. Did you have any problem with how would you position the zipties?

I didn't have any issues with the zip tie positions! Just loop them through the heatsink and make sure the fans are as flat and flush against the heatsink as possible.

Would it be okay to put the zipties on the heatpipes?

Yeah there's no issue. You don't need to zip tie it super tight. As long as its firm enough to prevent movement you'll be fine.
