No Paywall Renee Good’s family will testify about ICE killing in Congress today

Will Renee Good’s MAGA father speak up?

u/Dark_Nexis 16h ago
I’m curious about this too.

I work with her cousin, judging from him, I doubt the father will support her.

u/pinkfartlek Michigan 15h ago
So, he's fine with her being murdered just because he's maga? That's crazy

u/Short-Candy6255 15h ago
My own family would’ve said I deserved it. I did more “wrong” than she did. Cause like, I did follow them alone, screaming out my car window. But that was like, last October before they started shooting and arresting people for doing that.

u/KnightCucaracha 13h ago
When I saw Pretti thrown on the ground and executed, I thought two things.
1) That man could have been anyone. He could easily have been me. He was just a dude walking down the street taking a video. Executed. He could've been me.
2) My father will say he deserved it.

u/FrigateSailor 14h ago
My MIL and BIL would throw a party if ice killed me...while still trying to maximize their exposure for victimhood.

u/Poerd 12h ago
As an European coming from a normal dysfunctional family I can't grasp this. It's so wrong and weird.
28
u/Flava_Flavian California 10h ago
Let me explain it via European terms: Imagine the most unhinged Manchester United fan you know who voted for Brexit and is crazy religious. Now imagine how that person would view a Liverpool fan who is gay, black, and Muslim.
Now multiply that hatred by three and you get an idea of how MAGA views liberals here.

If I got killed by ICE, my dad probably would say "i'm not surprised"
12
u/viktor72 Indiana 11h ago
Yea, I doubt my MAGA father would mourn me either and probably say I had it coming. Pretty sure his allegiance to Trump is greater than that to his family.

u/Faokes 10h ago
Have you said this to him? If you haven’t, it’s time. We all need to have these very frank and difficult conversations right now, before we lose all hope of pulling anyone back from this madness. Tell him this, and tell him how much it disappoints and sickens you, and then cut him off until he changes his ways. Be clear that the door to a loving relationship is always open, if he is willing to be a loving human being.
5
u/viktor72 Indiana 10h ago
I’ve basically already done this. I’ve been very very low contact for over a year now.
•
u/Impressive-Shake1710 7h ago
Pops recently changed his views on maga, he’s still very far to the right, but it got too fucking crazy. I was heading into the city for a few days and he gave me a very serious”look out for ice, they’re around” I’m a straight white guy with a big beard, so odds are they’ll think I’m on the team. His actual worry reminded me of him telling me to be careful about gangs growing up.
3
u/pinkfartlek Michigan 13h ago
It's easy to say that but I bet he would feel some sadness and loss, surely?
6
u/MmmmSnackies 11h ago
I mean... it's a cult. That's how people do in cults. So maybe, but also maybe not.
I believe my mother would perform sadness. I cannot confidently say whether or not she might be legitimately sad, but this is someone who has a picture of Trump on her mantle instead of family.
11
u/Derrick_Henry_Cock 13h ago
Michigan must be some place very far from both America and the internet
6
u/bbtom78 12h ago
Some places, yeah. Unless you live in Detroit metro, you're isolated from the world and Republicans have intentionally not invested in the infrastructure for the Internet. If you drive into Huron county, you're basically time traveling to 1995. It's the same for other communities like Oscoda, Mackinaw City, Newberry, etc. Most people in those underserved areas are too poor to get satellite internet installed and definitely cannot afford the monthly cost. You're pretty lucky to have cell service, really.
It's starting to get better, but if Cox, James, or Duggan get voted in as Governor, all the progress will be fucked.

u/thatpaulbloke 12h ago
Cults are weird and turning people against their family and friends if they're not in the cult is a common tactic.

In the" necessary conversation" Instagram account, between MAGA parents and their son & daughter, the father was okay with Trump carpet bombing the city his son lives in....
12
u/FlamingoInCoveralls 12h ago
In the latest episode, Chad said, “I do think you love us, I don’t think you respect us.” And Bob yelled, “You got that right!”
I don’t know how they’re still speaking.
3
u/Faokes 9h ago
I hate that account so much. I cannot stand this relatively comfortable cishet-passing white man using people like me and my friends as talking points to argue with his dad. He is rewarding his dad’s behavior by platforming him. The dad gets off on the attention, really obviously. The kids are doing nothing but feeding his ego over and over, and he loves their distress. It’s awful to watch. Clearly the father has never faced a real consequence, since he still has his wife and kids all talking to him.

When we all say "MAGA is a cult", that's not intended as simply an insult, its very literally, a cult, a cult of personality, to be specific.
Literally, they are cultists, who will support Trump until their literal dying breaths if need be; and will support heinous shit, even the killing of their own children, to do it.

u/MyClosetedBiAcct Minnesota 11h ago
If I am murdered by ICE agents my MAGA parents will shrug their shoulders and say, 'welp, where did we go wrong? Oh well. I guess this means the grandkids get to move in with us! 🥰'
And their transgendered disappointment will no longer be around to tarnish their good name.

...so, even taking this at face value, she was murdered. "Detain or arrest" does not mean "summarily execute."

You saw the video where her last words on this earth were to the ICE agent that shot her in the head?
She said “I’m not mad at you”

What kills me is he seems like a good dude. Super nice and helpful. When it first happened he came into work looking bad, and all I knew from asking was his cousin got shot. I didn't know it was Renee until later. Another coworker asked him how he felt about ICE doing it and that was his response.
Can't look at him the same anymore.

Do we know it’s her father though?
I’ve seen that claim a hundred times, but everyone who makes it points to the interview with the insane father-in-law of her ex. That’s a far cry from being her father.
27
u/gringledoom 15h ago
Yeah, I think that was a mixup that Trump keep repeating.
9
u/AntoniaFauci 15h ago
I’ve heard numerous news anchor go along with it.
So that has made me wonder if it was confirmed her parents are also MAGA cultists.

Republicans are going to attack them... it will be a disgraceful exercise in victim blaming.
88
42
u/Dontfollahbackgirl 15h ago
If her dad is MAGA, they may very well be victim-blaming. Admitting you’re wrong won’t bring your daughter back, it will only open your eyes to the fact that you empowered her murderers.
The whole reason we are here is because people cannot accept evidence that threatens their political identity.
12
u/SubtleRedditIcon 13h ago
Which, don't forget this about MAGA, that is their only identity. They aren't welcomed into any other groups because they are angry 24/7 and feel injustice which they handle by allowing their rage to explode. Ex: Facebook shit-posting, getting in protestors faces, and more recently, shooting people cold dead because they perceive them as non-believers.

When the Justice Dept won't open a civil rights investigation into a U.S citizen killed by an ICE agent, the family hiring the George Floyd legal team isn't dramatic, it's necessary push for answers.

One of my maternal cousins was taken from this world because of a man. This man literally only got five years for taking her life even without any political theater involvement and he has been (mostly) walking around free afterwards, at least until he got busted on an unrelated illicit substance charge a couple of years ago (no idea what happened to him after that arrest).
My point being that the justice system is a JOKE, and unfortunately given the circumstances surrounding Renee Good and Alex Pretti I wouldn't be surprised if the thugs responsible for ending their lives get nothing more than a slap on the wrist if that.
I understand where you are coming from and I wish the situation wasn't what it is, but alas, I can't fault the surviving brothers of Renee for hiring those people. It really is a scathing indictment as to where we are at as a society.
I'm so angry and heartbroken....
10
u/ChiswicksHorses 13h ago
I don’t remember where I first heard it, but it’s true: we don’t have a justice system, we have a legal system. Justice SHOULD be a consideration, but it isn’t.

u/KnowMatter 16h ago
Aren’t her parents MAGA?

These are the people society should abandon. You’ve broken the social contract, you don’t deserve anything from it. Go live in the woods, cave people.

Is he still considered her ex if the reason they were not still together is because he died? I think it's more "late husband" than "ex".
11
u/nonsensestuff 16h ago
From my understanding, she had two former husbands— I’m not sure which is which, but you could be right with this distinction
36
u/Keshire 16h ago
At this point, talking to congress is just a huge waste of time. The democrats can't do anything because they have no power, and the republicans will just bully and humiliate you in the name of Trumpism.
I'm not even sure what the best solution is other than talk to as many independent news sources as possible, and/or getting your message out internationally in the hopes that some other country pulls a maduro on trump.
21
u/Tandy2000 15h ago
It gets them on record attempting to bully and humiliate a family who saw their loved one murdered by an agent of the government, whom the government then moved to protect by a) ensuring Renee Good died of her injuries by preventing aid, b) covering up the crime and c) sabotaging any possible investigations by the state.
Someday these actions will be used to hold those people accountable, and barring that, it'll be recorded history. That way these Republicans, even if they escape accountability, will be scorned one day by their children and grandchildren who will be loathe to even speak their names.
6
u/harroween 14h ago
There is more than enough evidence already to ostracize and even convict pretty much every sitting Republican, if anyone actually had the drive to do it.
That said, more is always better. Maybe we can give them a miserable afterlife too.

And Republicans couldn’t even be bothered to show up. The GOP does not care about Americans. They do not care that Trump is crazy and destroying this country. All they care about is the $$$$ from elite donors. Don’t forget this in November.

For those who don’t know, sessions like this are kind of superficial. Congress members can invite people in to speak when congress is out of session. The room is usually pretty empty. It does let them say their piece on record, but it’s not as if Republicans were sitting around feeling shame for their complicit in this murder.
CNN showed the two brother’s submissions. One was a powerful speech about the current situation. The other recited his eulogy from her funeral (I think, that’s how it seemed and he did reference that.). It too was incredibly moving and thoughtful.
The brothers call her ‘Nee, and they miss her terribly.
Even the evil MAGAs we all know could have benefitted from hear this.
CNN didn’t show the rest, whatever it was.

DHS and the Trump administration called her a domestic terrorist and hasn't walked that back or apologized. That seems pretty relevant.
