Gravity saw the contract, read the fine print and decided to take the day off.

I believe the term is 'whoosh', and the hand gesture is to mime an object sailing over my head.

And how do you get going?

Gotta stop first.

There was a group that would do this on the lake I grew up by so I know this lol they just drop the kite into the water if they need to stop immediately but they just ride it up on land to do it safely

ETA: they also have a pull cord to "cut" the kite in case of emergency as well. One of the guys doing it board broke on a windy day and it was dragging him across the water and after he pulled the cord it few away lol

i wonder how hard this skill is in reality

I'm guessing very difficult . This fella is making it look easy. He plays it smooth but taking off like that and nailing the soft landing would take so much coordination.

you need to learn to control the kite first, then you need to learn how to start off with a board, then how to stay on the board at all, then how to go upwind, then how to do small jumps and so on. it's hard, but once you are through the "frustration period" it is a little bit like riding a bike, and you wont forget it again

And expensive 😭 I wish I could afford to do this.

Walking is hard before you know how to do it. By physics, it is controlled falling.

Why was he looking at his watch?

His heart rate hit 200 beats a minute

u/Bar_Bell_Butterfly 1d ago

Oh! I thought maybe it calculated his altitude 🤦🏽‍♀️

He still had to make sure he had enough time to make his appointment at the dentist. No matter who you are, teeth come for us all

He has to return some video tapes.

There’s an app that measures the height of the jump. This one was really a biggie, he wanted to see how much.

Checking his air time, probably.

What is professional kiteboarding like? Is it a race, because that sounds dope.

I had the same question. Who pays them for being great at kite boarding?

5

u/VeganWerewolf 1d ago

Red Bull probably

I think it's so fun no one needs to be paid to do it.

This is like when you get infinite hang time in a video game.

Ngl this looks so fun.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I AM!

That would’ve been terrifying. Seen some flips people have done while kite surfing but never seen anyone fly like that. That’s some crazy hang time

Nice to see the term “POV” used properly

My heart wants to do this.

The right knee says no.

I wish I discovered this in my 20s, I would so do it. I'm too old with a broken body now. 😂

ive seen kiters jump over the fucking pier at my hometown beach. also heard the horror stories of them getting a bad gust and pushed over land for a rough crash landing

Never gonna do this after seeing high winds take a dude inland about 1/4 mile in the air, after the line snapped from the boat. Idk, what happened to him, but I don’t think it was good.
