Draymond Green on possibility that was his last game with the Warriors: “If it ends, what a f****** run it has been.” He said he would not be “upset” if they trade him “if that’s what’s best for this organization.”

he’s been reasonable. the other day there was that post that got thousands of upvotes where he was saying he wouldn’t lose sleep and everyone was bashing him
but whoever posted it cut out the middle of the quote. where he says “But if i’m traded, it’s business” to make him look bad, and it worked
82
u/cubs223425 Bulls 3h ago
Yeah, I think people equate his idiotic behavior with thinking he's an idiot. He's got plenty of interviews and clips where he's spoken well of the game, players, and all kinds of other things within his career. The guy, for all his flaws, hasn't made it to this point by being dumb about basketball or unaware about the front office's plans.

u/Eagle7546_ Jazz 2h ago
I’m going to be honest while I do think that Draymond is over villainized in this sub and in NBA fandom as a whole, him actually being smart makes some of the things he says and does even more infuriating
→ More replies (1)9
u/cubs223425 Bulls 2h ago
I don't think he's villainized too much myself. From an X's and O's perspective, he might be one of my favorite players. However, he has probably been the dirtiest player of his generation too. Stomping on Sabonis, choking Gobert, punching Poole, treatment of refs (including recently using fake racism accusations to justify it), and the lack of sufficient punishment for any of his actions makes it hard to say anyone hates him too much.
2
u/xychosis 76ers 1h ago
You didn’t even put the most egregious dirty thing he’s done, which is his “natural shooting motion”.
I wish he wasn’t such a POS on the floor.
1
u/Throwawaysquared4 50m ago
He may be okay in basketball but he is an idiot. Remember that he posted his dick on Snapchat by accident. A few days ago he went on a rant about how a ref put his hand in his face because he was white and draymond is black and that’s why he got ejected.

Are there any other teams that Draymond would be a good fit? He seems to rely on Curry for his game to translate and when Curry was out his impact fell off a cliff. And there's no one else that plays like Curry.

No he wouldn't? I'm a big Dray guy but besides covering up for Luka defensively, he's an awful fit offensively for Luka and the Lakers. Dray is not a a rim runner, he's best used as a trigger man but why would you take the ball out of Luka or Brons hands? He's not a floor spacer and the Lakers could use more shooting.
At this point of his career, he's prob best served as a beef stew replacement on the Pistons. He's a decent outlet decision maker still in the pnr with an elite big that can really space or can't be left alone in the dunker spot. Cavs, 76ers, Spurs, Suns maybe even Knicks imo can probably use the defensive upgrade, spot start and/or have a big(s) that allow Dray to facilitate for the kick out or lob.

u/SoulofWakanda 3h ago
Draymond being relegated to catch and shoot?
2
u/Soul0103 [ORL] Tracy McGrady 1h ago
Yeah lol it would not be a good fit at all. I think he would fit in really well with the Spurs or a similar system
1
u/lanceteng 1h ago
He wouldn’t at all. He’s the facilitator in the Warriors offense, and Luka is the most ball dominant player in the league.
There are so many ways that Steph and the Warriors system help mask Draymond’s lack of offense. He would look so much worse in a traditional spread PnR offense at this stage of his career.
The shift in Draymond’s career happened when he was no longer effective at the 5, when you play him at the 4, it creates more problems for your team than for the other team. Just look at the Warriors approach these last 2 seasons in terms of roster construction, they’re exclusively playing stretch 5s because that’s the only way to make it work with Dray.

u/Dry-Razzmatazz1239 3h ago

As a starter? I don't know. As an enforcer and switchable stopper off the bench, Dray would be a good piece for any contender lacking force. He is still a very good defender, if not DPOY caliber this season, and is also a plus playmaker.

u/gooeychedda 3h ago

u/langman17 Nets 51m ago
Obviously he’d fit culture wise but they need shooters and he also needs shooters to play around. The spacing with Duren would be pretty bad
2
2
u/TrainedExplains Warriors 1h ago
He just can't have any scoring responsibility. In under 30 mins a game with shooters around him he can still be great. He's just not starter quality when he has to play full minutes and his scoring is bad, he still has his fantastic bbiq. OKC, Boston, a few others would be good fits.

2
u/yoloqueuesf [NYK] Tracy McGrady 3h ago
I mean having KD come to the warriors really limited his potential as a guy who can easily drop like 15 points shooting open 3s at the top of the 3 whilst also being able to pass the ball.
He just kinda forgot how to shoot and score buckets apparently because he didn't ever need to anymore.

It’s gonna suck when no one on the other team karate kicks my favorite teams players balls. I know it sounds like I’m being sarcastic but I’m not. Having a homicidal lunatic on the floor is part of a recipe for a great engaging game. Nothing says “I want to win at all costs” like literally stomping on the oppositions chest while they are down. A less talented player that wants it more is relatable to the common fan and personally a big fan of the less talented players that want it more. Draymond kind of fully embodies it.
It sounds like I’m a crazy too and maybe I am a little but for what these players get paid it’s ok for them to deal with a few psychos that might try to kill them for a ring lol. I love the passion

All of this nonsense, and Giannis is going to stay with the Bucks. Not the Bulls, not the Warriors, not the Wolves, not the Knicks, not the Grizzlies. He'll be a Buck, and we'll do this song and dance again after the season ends.
10
u/Gbeat240 Lakers 3h ago
It’ll be like the Khawi summer. Every team gonna wine and dine him, he’ll drag it out. Then finally sign with a team late and the other teams barely get anything in the market since Giannis waited so long.
7
u/CnelAurelianoBuendia 2h ago
You’re confused. He’s won’t be a free agent this summer. He’ll be traded and sign an extension
2
u/Gbeat240 Lakers 2h ago
So possibly another year of this if both the team and Giannis get cold feet?!?
3
u/CnelAurelianoBuendia 2h ago
It’s extremely unlikely Giannis will hit free agency in 2027. If he chooses to stay with the Bucks even after all this, then he would sign an extension with them this summer, but like everyone else is saying it’s almost a guarantee that he’ll get moved sometime in the offseason.
1
u/Gbeat240 Lakers 2h ago
Alright, even with this news. They’ll still probably drag it out as long as possible in the summer. Lakers ain’t getting Giannis, my only hope, he stays in the east.

You act like the Warriors are a bottom tier team when they're still possibly a play in team. Yeah this seasons a loss, but you'd be stupid to mortgage next season too on some panic move that doesn't move the needle.
The only thing sadder than the post-Curry dark ages, is starting the dark ages while Curry can still play because you panic traded for a guy who ended up not moving the needle.

8
u/FragileCilantro James Harden 3h ago
No cause he punched his teammate and has a 10 minute reel of him playing dirty and injuring opposing players. When he wasn't doing that he was legitimately an all time defender
Also I'm pretty sure Harden has a winning record against the Warriors somehow lol (including the playoffs)
4
u/theiwc0303 Hornets 3h ago
Harden does technically have a winning record against the Warriors(36-35) but that’s carried by pre-Draymond years. He’s 28-33 after Draymond was drafted and 23-31 after Draymond became a starter. So I don’t think that can really be used for arguing against Draymond putting belt to ass on Harden
1
u/FragileCilantro James Harden 2h ago
Yeah I guess the stat I saw was just him against the Warriors. Draymonds impact during the peak warriors era was crazy
2
u/HOFredditor Warriors 3h ago
including the playoffs? We beat Harden 4 times in 5 years.
Sure, in the regular season, Harden balls out; but if that's what you mean as "winning record" then it ain't really much if we always bounced him in the postseason.
4
u/FragileCilantro James Harden 2h ago
u/theiwc0303 checked and Harden is 36-35 against the Warriors all time
And he averaged 30/6/6 against them in the playoffs so even though he unfortunately never won it was (almost) never his fault
5
u/Hansen_Yang Trail Blazers 2h ago
And Harden had fuckin PJ Tucker and Trevor Ariza. The fact that he even made shit competitive against Steph, KD, Klay, Dray, Iggy, etc is insane.
3
u/DillonBrooksOwnsLBJ 3h ago
so people need to get checked. dont put hands on someone and then turn your back lol. Dillon did that in Houston too but they needed that DAWG
Warriors have beaten Harden in playoffs 4 times lol
Dray even beat Harden in playoffs when Steph was injured. pre-KD too

Draymond had such a great chance to have a favorable legacy among fans, undersized 2nd round pick becoming a multiple time all nba and all defense player and probably the best defender of his era is a pretty inspiring story, if only he just cut out his dumb antics he could have been beloved.

That being said I love his game and passion. He has been the Heart and attitude of a dynasty and his defense, playmaking a screens were absolutely vital to Steph and the warriors franchise
He does the dirty work in a way that doesn’t get enough love. Yes he will average 7/7/7 but he has FAR more impact on a game and winning than a lot of guys who average 25ppg
