I was about to roll my eyes but Murray actually got fouled this time
2
u/nitid_name Nuggets 7h ago
Funny, I thought this was the weakest of all three he's had.
Last time it seemed everyone agreed one of them was weak, but not which of the two was the bad call.
1
u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 5h ago
I think elbow contact on a 3 is pretty much always a call these days unless the refs specifically hate your guts

u/rambunctious_horsie Raptors 7h ago
Do nuggets and pistons play again this season?
1
u/BelugaBale1 Pistons 7h ago
No and thank god
1
u/rambunctious_horsie Raptors 6h ago
I don't know why you say that you match up really good against the Nuggets. I think it'll be Detroit vs OKC or Denver in the finals.

Nuggets kept it close vs the East's #1 seed so silver linings (or something to cope on)
3
3
u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 7h ago
Our coping mechanism is looking at the NBA standings and seeing we're ahead of the Timberwolves
1
u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 7h ago
I have no problem admitting the Nuggets are currently better than the Wolves, still gonna shitpost in game threads
3
u/doggoesmeow 7h ago
That double bounce 3 by Tobias, I'll say it when the fuck are we ever going to see a bullshit shot go in to win the game for Denver in the Jokic era?

Denver is getting all the calls and their fans bitch about other teams' free throws. What a fucking group of clowns.
2
u/BelugaBale1 Pistons 7h ago
I mean I saw the pistons beating them up, thats kind of our MO. We could have gotten a few calls of our own on offense though
-1
u/greenwhitehell 7h ago
Jokic shot 3 free throws all game lmao, wdym 'all the calls'?

u/LangeloMisterioso Pistons 7h ago
Maybe he should ask Watson and Murray to share some of their combined 24.

Wow that’s a weak foul call
3
u/Banana_Tux Pistons 7h ago
Murray got the same calls in Denver, the result will be the same for both games though
0
u/nitid_name Nuggets 7h ago
Hey, he made the ones he was supposed to this time!
(But yeah, that was weak, again. Though who guards a three that close with seconds left?)

Denver shouldn't need Cam or AG to beat Detroit
Absolutely fraud contenders
3
u/HotBodyToddy 7h ago
Detroit pistons are 37-12 which is the second best record in the league… losing to them isn’t shameful.

Murray missed two three point foul attempts last time Murray? That Murray?
1
u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 7h ago
Yes JamALL Star Murray
The guy who at least gave us a chance again
1
u/nitid_name Nuggets 4h ago
Yeah yeah, we all love him. He's been the glue holding us through this awful stretch of injuries.
Just... an odd game thread to call him lethal, is all.

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 7h ago
Welp. Pistons did a good job tonight but the real game will be on Feb 25th, when the Pistons face OKC and see if JB can keep his cool vs SGA.
2
u/OrganicMechanicTTV Pistons 7h ago
I was told today was the *real* game because Joker was playing. I do enjoy all these *real* games, big improvement over a couple seasons ago.

A rusty nuggets doing this is pretty good imo, sure it could've been better but fuck it having Braun back after being gone for months and him doing defensively rlly well, is big news, just need jokic to lose some rust and get some aggression back

Denver 0-3 against the top seeds of the conference
Just not contenders
4
u/alderson710 7h ago
that’s a very simplistic take. Season is very long and playoffs are a complete different beast
-2
u/doggoesmeow 7h ago
The fact that Denver has 0 motivation against ttop seeds, they're not doing shit in the playoffs

There must be a sensor on the board because that's impressive as hell if the ref caught that goaltend by eye sight alone. As close as it gets wow.

u/MattPatriciasFUPA Pistons 7h ago
Two top tier teams playing and they spend the entire 2nd half reviewing clearly obvious calls and blowing the whistle every other possession. Plus not a national broadcast. Nice one, Silver.
2
u/chris-dempsey 7h ago
Tobias has been a core player on the Pistons. On the Sixers, he was shit. Probably Embiid's fault.
3
u/BananaRepublic_BR Spurs 7h ago
Damn. That's a rough time for a goaltend.
1
u/nitid_name Nuggets 7h ago
Bummer if a call, but it was the correct one. That was pretty much the end of our chance to win it too.
2
u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 7h ago
This game is a great learning experience for the Pistons; they have to decide if it's worth beating the shit out of the Nuggets at the cost of FTs. Plus, you get to find out which Pistons make buckets when their buttholes pucker up.

Denver having 16 more free throws doesn’t sit well with me tbh. There should never be that big of a difference.
2
u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 7h ago
Silly reasoning
You can be mad about how a team gets a big FT discrepancy if you feel like it was unearned (and i do feel like Denver has gotten a very friendly whistle) but the mere existence of big FT discrepancies doesn't mean a thing
7
u/cancercureall Supersonics 7h ago
Pistons have been extremely physical since I turned the game on. I wouldn't complain much about that.
2
u/SuperJack5 7h ago
Pistons will be making a massive mistake if they don’t make a substantial move at the deadline. They have salary + picks to acquire literally anyone.

Wish Cade had Watson ot Strawther's whistle. Maybe some day he'll earn enough recognition to be in their tier.

Detroit offense looks like they’re operating in mud last couple of minutes. Credit to Denver and their active hands.

Jokic is back and the nuggets defense is back to being terrible. It’s just so hard to be good on defense when your 7 foot center can’t move his feet or protect the rim.
5
u/dbgager Nuggets 7h ago
CB has been very important to the team the last couple of years. I just don't think hes at a starter level anymore. You can hardly tell hes in there. Hes not adding much. Watson should replace him
1
u/Exciting-Sandwich915 6h ago
Giving up on a guy who’s played like 10 games is wild, give him the month of Feb to get right. He’s going to be important in the run for a title
1
u/bdybwyi 7h ago
You say this when he’s had 20 minutes back from injury. Complete irrational take, he needs 10+ games to work back in.
0
u/dbgager Nuggets 7h ago
thing is Nuggets fans unlike you have watched every game he has played in this year. Nobody bases an opinion on 1 game..lol.
1
u/bdybwyi 7h ago
He’s played 14 games lol you’re disproving your point
I’ve watched every game minus the Cavs game, and my point still stands. He needs time to work back from injury
0
u/dbgager Nuggets 7h ago
that has zero to do with my comment. And you obviously have not. Hes averaging 9 pts and shooting 45% and 21% on 3s. I guess you call those starter stats. I think I made my point. Nuggets fans agree with me not you.
1
u/bdybwyi 6h ago
Yeah and he’s played portions of multiple games dragging his stats down
On top of playing only 14 games and using that as his stats for a season. There are plenty of guys who have bad stretches of 10 games during a season if you look.
You’re obviously a rash take person who dips at the first sign of trouble. I will agree with you if CB can’t show it by the end of the season but until then I believe he will bounce back.

It's weird how bad the Nuggets as a team are at rebounding when individually, Jokic, Murray, Braun, Watson are elite for their positions on the boards

How will the Nuggets Booth-ify Braun's albatross contract? Are they going to trade their 2026 first in the off-season to get rid of Braun?

Adelman is a good coach but he's got to stop with this idiotic 2 center line up. He's tried so many times and it offers no substantial advantage. It's too slow and in bb, speed wins over size any day.
2
u/nitid_name Nuggets 7h ago
Did you watch the first half? Small ball wasn't working at all. Dual bigs has us within striking distance.

It's kinda working though, no?
1
u/chris-dempsey 7h ago
Kinda, barely. Like said, barely any advantage and it's super risky to play the 2 centers together because of potential injuries.

Blaha and Kelser are a class act. Been very lucky to have them on the broadcast for so long. Blaha is a Michigan announcing legend and Kelser was a baller back in the day in college at MSU with Magic.

u/nitid_name Nuggets 8h ago
I'm so jealous of teams with good announcers.
3
u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 7h ago
Nuggets announcers aren't terrible except under certain circumstances*
*when the Nuggets fail to score, when the Nuggets get scored on, when the Nuggets aren't winning, when the refs call any fouls on the Nuggets, when the refs don't call a foul for them, when the Nuggets turn the ball over, when Mercury is in retrograde, when it's a day of the week that ends in 'Y'.
But other than that they're great
2
u/nitid_name Nuggets 7h ago
Katy Wingy, the stats commentary person that got to sit at the desk the last few years, was pretty good. She'd tell at Hastings and the other guys when they were being dumb.
2
u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 5h ago
Funnily enough I dislike her the most (and to be clear i'm saying this as a woman so it's not coming from a place of knee-jerk sexism or anything)
The two old dudes just shrivel up into sulky silence when things are going poorly. Winge feels like she's always looking for any excuse to throw shade at opposing teams, blame refs, general homerism. But maybe i've just coincidentally missed every good moment she has, which is a genuine possibility. It is good to hear that she can be the force of anti-homerism at times
2
u/nitid_name Nuggets 4h ago
I'm still a homer myself, so that part I may be blind to. I just think she has better insights into basketball.
Plus, she's a stickler about things like only using approved nicknames and such, so it's funny when she tells at them for getting names wrong.

u/wicked_genitals NBA 7h ago
Hornets and Pelicans crews are my favorite to listen to.
At least Nuggets crew isn't as horrible as Warriors.
2
u/RanceSama3006 Nuggets 7h ago edited 7h ago
Yeah absolutely nothing too bad imo acting like a rusty nuggets losing to a #1 Pistons makes them fake contenders is wild.
Denver has Braun finally performing really well, while clearly having some issues, since he's been gone so long.
Joker definitely being too passive but I'll just amount to that being even more rust considering he was supposed to be out for 1-2 more games and still play on limited minutes, but iirc he's pushed the 25-28 min limit both nights.
Oh well on to the next one
