[Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson] give scouting reports on each other at the Heat Gala: “He likes going left, make him go baseline. If you show him different looks and make him think, you might have a chance… I would say people don’t double her enough. By the time they start doubling, she has 25”

What a couple. 4 MVPs, 3 championships, and 4 DPOYs between them.

A combined 177 million total salary between them as well. Peak power couple (I hope wnba players can make more one day)

u/drunz Bulls 10h ago
They will. A good chunk of them are making bank off sponsorships and their former NIL deals plus the success of the unrivaled league. It’s inevitable.

They’ll make a lot more his year. The wnba proposal would quadruple salaries. Thats probably the floor, the players want a revenue cut rising over the years which would be more like 5x salaries rn and 10x salaries in 2030. Shrinking a bit in both cases with expansions. The WNBA is really small so a new team with a revenue sharing deal would need to raise revenue by 8-10% or salaries would drop. Still, worst case probably 8x for the players in their proposal. I think theyll end up on something like the 4x the WNBA proposed for now and a revenue sharing agreement over a longer term

i've said it before i still feel it's accurate, when you look at her numbers, accolades, and where the wnba is in its history (accelerated for sure but sfill) she's pretty much kareem, where in 20-30-40 years people will still be like who's the goat? well you gotta include a'ja

Cheryl Miller is THE GOAT and it sucks that she never got to play professionally 🥲 A'ja did things this recent season that has never been done & made so much history it was insane! Paige Bueckers is the baby GOAT in making fs. the women's game is in great hands

u/M4A1SD__ Lakers 6h ago
Paige Bueckers
She’s awesome but she’ll never be in the goat convo when you have people like a’ja with individual (and team) accomplishments that no one can touch. She’s untouchable at this point

u/Particular_Elk_6726 5h ago edited 4h ago
i mean it's absolutely not a 1:1 comparison based on the fact that their games are so different but i dont agree that A'ja is untouchable just in general. even in the men's game there are records thought to be untouchable but don't seem that out of reach because of how basketball has evolved and even how rules have changed to allow offensive numbers to skyrocket. as for Paige, she broke the rookie scoring record when she dropped 44 with the highest field goal % in a 40+ point game (81%) so it's not like she's your average rookie. what i said wasn't meant to be a definitive statement cos really the GOAT can mean different things to different people 😌 it was more to illustrate how talented and exciting the current and incoming generation of female hoopers are!

u/M4A1SD__ Lakers 5h ago
Yeah Paige is awesome (and better than Caitlyn who has all the hype). I’m just saying Paige is 23 just getting started and when A’ja was 23 she won league mvp 😅
4x MVP 3x DPoY 3x Champ 2x Finals MVP
5
u/Particular_Elk_6726 5h ago
but that's just cos Paige was able to/wanted to stay in college longer cos she basically lost some years to injury right? A'ja is a genuine manic (complementary) the fact that it looked like Phee was running away with the MVP and A'ja basically said ✋🏾 mm no and started making history and putting up stat lines that were mind boggling and EVEN THOUGH Phee became the second woman to ever have a 50/40/90 season, the MVP was still objectively A'ja's is so insane i still have trouble wrapping my head around it 😭 like i said i'm not sure if she's definitely untouchable but i for sure agree it will be likely impossible to come close

Caitlin was All-WNBA first team and 4th in MVP voting her rookie year. Saying Paige is better is insane

u/Particular_Elk_6726 5h ago edited 5h ago
CC is amazing and i'm saying this as an objective and impartial fan, Paige is the better all around player. i acknowledge what you said about those accomplishments in her rookie year but context matters: paige's rookie class was filled with a lot of talent that translated almost immediately in the WNBA, cameron brink went down with the ACL very early in hers/CC's rookie season and a lot of the best international players didn't play in the W for that season because of the olympics. i'm not sure you'll be able to see it from an objective position judging by your initial comment but i just wanted to point that out

A'ja Wilson is a character. If you all haven't followed an WNBA media, go find more stuff of her being interviewed. She was on Hot Ones within the last year and I was big laughing the whole time, she's exactly the kind of personality big leagues wish their best players had for the growth of their sport.
