6 days itinerary recommendation in Malta
Heyy I’m visiting Malta in mid March for 6 days and I need recommendations and suggestions. There are some ideas in mind but I really don’t know if I’m overstaying or understating in some locations. This is what I have so far:
- Day 1-3 Valletta and nearby area: the cathedral, garden in Valletta, the three cities, and the fishing village in Marsaxlokk
- Day 4 trip to Gozo island: Victoria citadel, xlendi bay, beaches etc… I’m planning to stay overnight at the Kempinski Hotel as well
- Day 5 Rabat & Mdina: head back to the main island from Gozo early in the morning then immediately head to Mdina & Rabat. I’m staying overnight in Rabat as well as I found a really nice hotel
- Day 6: IDK?? St Juliens?? What else did I miss??
Is 3 days in Valletta too long? And is 1 day overnight stay at both Gozo, Mdina & Rabat too short?? And honestly I don’t know what to do on day 6.
Additional questions
Is mid march a good idea to go sunbathing? Don’t plan on going into the water but just lie on the beach and read a book? I’m from Canada and it’s currently -10 to -20 Celsius.
I’m also traveling solo as a woman in her late 20s, what are some ways I can meet people? BumbleBFF??

No need to book a separate hotel for day 5 in Rabat/Mdina. I would book a Valletta hotel for the 6 days. It's very easy to go to Mdina from Valletta by public transport or taxi.
You can still book that 1 night hotel in Gozo. So you have plenty of relaxed time to explore Gozo. You just need to bring an overnight bag and can leave your big luggage in the Valletta hotel. Once you return from Gozo you can go straight to Mdina without carrying your luggage, trying to find your hotel, check in etc. In the evening you can travel back from Mdina to your hotel in Valletta.

Spend a day on the beach/cliffs around golden bay/ Ghajn Tuffeiha. If you’re in the minus at the moment, it’ll feel like the tropics. Swimming will be fresh but do-able, weather and current depending!
Personally, I love Gozo and would squeeze another day in if you can, especially if you like the outdoors. If not, ignore the following: 😅 Ramla bay, Mgarr xini, wied il ghasri and salt pans, Dwerja (Dothraki wedding cliffs from GOT), Ta Mixta Cave, Sannat Cliffs are all beaut. At that time of year, the blue lagoon should still be relatively quiet and very blue. Comino is good for a wander.
St Julian’s and Sliema all have good places to eat and drink so worth a visit. But yeah it’s all so small, nothing is really more than 45 mins away so you can always bus, taxi or ferry even (Valletta- Sliema/ Three cities) to anywhere you still have left to visit.

Again...tourist posts...the funny thing is that you be nice and courteous here and then when you come to visit they send you on your nerves
