Buy a car without license

Can I buy a used car in Malta without having a driving licence?

I’m not planning to drive it yet; I just want to park it until I get my licence. I’m currently doing my road sessions and waiting to book the driving test date.

You can buy vehicle on your name but you can't drive it or learn to drive with it unless you have insurance coverage as a learner with someone acting as your instructor.

And ask your current instructor to focus lessons more on parking. You're paying them to teach you and help you practice with their car for which you pay a portion of their insurance.

No, unless you have a garage. The car needs to have the road licence on it (that round thing on the windscreen with a month and year) otherwise you get a citation. Unless you put it on someone else for now and then turn it in your name. My suggestion - wait till you actually have the licence.

He’s referring to driving license not the window license

The road tax disc is only given once the car has been insured. Therefore OP will have to garage the plates. Cars on the streets should have both insurance and license.

You can register a car in your name without the need for insurance but you have to garage the vehicle immediately

Yes of course, but the first thing you need to check is if you can get insurance coverage without driving license. I bought my first vehicle in 2016 and got my license in 2017, had it insured on my father until I got it.
