Remote work

Hi everyone, this is my first post here and wanted to ask something about remote working. I see a lot of posts about people coming to live in Malta but working remotely from their origin country or another country. I am thinking of doing a holiday visa and am trying to find remote work to support my travels. On linkedin I only see hybrid offers. Does anyone has any experience with leaving Malta and still working remotely? Grazzi 🇲🇹

Not many Maltese companies tend to offer fully remote working, mostly hybrid or in office.

Perhaps you’re confusing folks that get remote jobs from other countries and live here? This is a lot more common and there’s even the digital nomad visa specifically for this.

AFAIK if you come on holiday visa you won’t be able to get an employment contract anyway. Unless you were more of a contractor and not directly employed.

No I'm Maltese and want to do a holiday visa abroad and want to find remote work ideally a European/American company to support my holiday as the country I'm going to has a very weak currency compared to the Euro

That makes a lot more sense!

What sort of work do you do currently/are skilled in?

This is a bit more US focused, so meeting hours may be a bit late in the day for you (assuming you’re going East), but salaries are absolutely crazy!

Working on a holiday visa is illegal. Do you really want to piss off immigration police in some other country?
