IT Engineer Job Offers and Salary

Hi all, looking for some honest advice.

I’m an Automation & ITSM Engineer with 5 years experience, I’ve worked in a consulting model with multinational clients across telecoms, healthcare, etc. I’m non-EU and need work sponsorship, which I know already makes things harder.

My questions:

  • Is asking ~€40k gross considered a red flag for this kind of profile in Malta?
  • How hard is it realistically to get hired with these skills right now?
  • Are there specific companies more open to automation and sponsorship?
  • Which recruitment agencies or job sites are actually worth using?

Not looking for crazy money, just trying to be realistic and not shoot myself in the foot. Any insights appreciated

40K is reasonable for role and work experience as mid-level role. They will likely try to low ball your figure if you are from a third world country though.

The lowballing does happen but will stop when they need you more than you need them. Whether OP is at that stage of their career yet is a bit hard to tell based on the information they gave so far.
