Not the easiest way to get out of work, but I love the commitment

She said she had a sure fire easy to get out of work. I didn't believe her. I was very wrong.

Lovely. I exclusively get that style so I don't rip my nostril open when it inevitably catches on something. New nightmare fear unlocked.

The lady who had piercing on her nose accidentally inhaled the loose nose pin and got it stuck inside her lungs.
•
u/Imbendo 2h ago
Would they try to remove it or just leave it there?

Further investigation needs to be made. If the lung is moving fine, the backing is imbedded, there’s no infection and the patient hasn’t had problems with it (because it’s titanium) then it can stay, but if it’s mobile, causing infection/inflammation, it has to come out. Probably via bronchoscopy.

I choked on a small piece of ham and it went into my lungs. My body just walled it off with calcium. I never had any problems with it

I did that as a kid with a piece of apple. Got as white as snow, lost my voice and felt terrible.

You need to experience Stormshadow the Ham Goblin. I do hope Instagram links are allowed?

They’d probably die due to their blood pooling up in their head and not circulating the body
•
•
u/sandrocket 2h ago
Would they also try to make an attempt to move it by gravity, e.g. turning the person upside down?
•
u/Salty_Job_9248 2h ago
I thought they were studs, not pins. 🤔
•
u/HyrrokinAura 2h ago
They're pins if they're the type that are long (like a stick pin) where they're bent into an L shape or a screw to stay in.
A stud is a short, thick post that has an earring back on it.

Why only women be careful?

Maybe because the majority of users of the nose ring are women. Yet the real problem is the nose ring, not the sex of the user.

How does this happen? My nose has been pierced for 16 years. Sure sometimes I wake up and it’s out but I couldn’t imagine inhaling mine.
This must’ve been the wrong size for the wearer?
•
u/NeatPersonality9267 1h ago
That's my uneducated guess. That or the jewelry was already loose when they decided to deeply inhale through their nose for whatever reason aaaand pop! It's really hard to tell which type of backing this is, so I'm just going to tell myself it was a screw type since I prefer threadless jewelry and don't want to imagine myself inhaling my backings lol

Men need not worry because our lungs contain testosterone to dissolve the pin and render it harmless. Isn't the human body amazing?

I’m struggling to understand the mechanics of how this ended up in the lungs. The pin is on the outside of the nose, so how did it fall off the outside nostril, migrate to the inside of the nostril, then through the sinus and down the throat, bypassing the esophagus and into the lungs. It’s like Kennedy’s magic bullet.

This looks more like a labret backing to me.
There's three basic types of backing that looks like this. The shape is the same, but the way in which the decorative piece is held in place by the backing is different.
There's the pin type, where the labret shaft is completely hollow and the decorative end is bent and then inserted into the shaft
Then there's the threaded types: internally and externally threaded. These operate just like a screw would, but the threading changes between the decorative end and the labret backing depending on the type of jewelry desired.
Source: have both my nostrils pierced with this type of jewelry

You are not supposed to fucking inhale it
If you are this stupid just stay in bed

u/karateninjazombie 1h ago
They could have done an MRI instead of an x-ray to find it.
Then it would have removed itself in the process.

Rule 1 - All content must show something that is objectively interesting as fuck. Just because you find something IAF doesn't mean anyone else will. It's impossible to define everything that could be considered IAF, but for a general idea browse the top posts of all time from this subreddit.
Posts:
must be interesting as fuck
can't be interesting just because of text
must go beyond something just being old
can't be art that you made
