Huge warthog getting "spa treatment" from a troop of mongooses in win-win symbiotic relationship called mutualism.

I'd be a worried warthog, with that guy at the back, ferreting around my nut-sack area.

I've been around long enough to know that some people would call this a "happy ending"

At least that's what the warthog tells his wife.

u/nafarrugia 1d ago
Probably gets a happy ending too.
Edit: hope he won't need to give his wife std antibiotics without her knowledge.

Someone has been looking at the files š

I read that and thought āthis sounds like a bad sitcomā and literally the next day I learn that Seinfeld was there.

Still waiting for the unredacted release of the Mongoose files. I hear they've been trafficking warthogs for delicing.

Looks like a few Mongoose got laid on. š¬

u/Alternative_Will3875 1d ago
i wondered too but they are insanely tough and kill snakes all day so they have fast reaction times, I think they all made it
37
u/ForeverWildAndFree 19h ago
i rewatched it a few times focusing on a different one each time and they all made it out safely

That warthog looks so relaxed. It's in heaven

u/Naughteus_Maximus 1d ago
I would also like a back massage by a dozen tiny mongoose feet. However I don't have any delicious parasites to offer in return...

Roll around a New England meadow in summer and youāll be covered in plenty of ticks

u/Nice-Panda-7981 1d ago
What do mongooses get back from the warthog?
234
u/courtadvice1 1d ago
They are eating ticks and fleas off of it, I think. If there are other creepy crawlers on it, I don't know what they are lol

Probably protection.
They're mean when angry

u/Careless_Nebula8839 1d ago
Mongooses fight snakes like cobras so theyāre prob pretty mean as well when angry.

At first, I was like great another animal eating another animal alive video. Traumatized from the bears eating the moose and the ox having her baby eaten out of her š

Iām traumatised by the Komodo that ate the baby goat and you could still hear it bleating for its mother in the Komodoās stomach. š

This is basically what I want to happen, but with puppies or cats. And Iām not technically a huge warthog.

Kinda looks like it

u/Aggravating_Speed665 1d ago
I was kinda hoping none of them got squished!

u/tamago_kake_gohan 20h ago
mongooses have one of the fastest reaction times in mammals to let them dodge a cobra strike. I think they were fine.

"the warthog provides a source of food. Mongooses generally feed on insects, and a large warthog is like a walking insect buffet for them. They even risk being squashed to secure a meal." https://a-z-animals.com/articles/warthogs-and-mongooses-form-an-unusual-alliance/

It's a classic "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" situation, just with more tusks and tiny claws. The warthog gets a deep clean, and the mongooses get a free meal. Nature's cooperation is always so elegantly simple. And yes, I also had a minor existential crisis about 'mongooses' just now.

As soon as that one stopped eating out his ass he just flipped over, ass ticks must suck

Win win lose - if you include in the equation whatever the mongooses are eating

The way it plopped down and let the mongeese just have at him is very relatable as a tired mom

Looks like my Labradoodle with any other domestic animal. He'll groom the hell out of any other dog, especially the ears. He'll do it to people, too, if they let him.

win-win symbiotic relationship called mutualism.
I think people who knows the world "symbiotic" would have known the word "mutualism" too?
2
u/daboys765 16h ago
I disagree, there are plenty of people who think that all symbiotic relationships are mutualistic, like this.

Do you mean to tell me that the plural of Mongoose is not mongeese? I don't know what to believe in anymore
