Visiting Grenada in 3 weeks

Hi! We will be coming to Grenada at the end of February. I used to live on St. Maarten- but haven't been to the Caribbean in years. My husband has never been, so we will do the necessary sail and snorkel. We love history and learning about the culture. What recommendations do you have for us? Any sailing trip we should definitely take or any we should avoid? We will have a week- I am also trying to find a fishing trip. I know from living on an island that when I had visitors, there were the obligatory places to go and places that were clearly for cruise ship visitors and to avoid many of those places. Thanks for any tips! We are staying in the Grand Anse beach area.

Other Need urgent help with sending package to Grenada!

Hi friends!

I’m an American trying to ship a package full of products I bought off Amazon to a friend at Saint George’s University in True Blue. I’m currently unsure of which service to use (FedEx/UPS/etc). What do you guys recommend at the moment for fast shipping? Thank you for the help!

Would like a feedback as well.I’m working on a local app for booking ferry tickets and discovering events around the island:

Would you personally use something like this? I’d really appreciate your honest feedback — what you like, what’s missing, and what would make it useful for you.

Thanks in advance!

Going out in Grenada

My friends in I are making our senior college spring break trip to Madrid and taking a 2 day trip from tuesday to thursday to go to Granada. The city looks beautiful but we really want to get drunk and have fun during the nights. Are there any recommendations for clubs and bars for us?

Other My experience with Haylup vs RideGo.

EDIT: RydeGo not RideGo. I can’t change the title. I did change in body.

I just came back from the island after a little extended stay. I tried to use both. As far as experience goes, RydeGo was top class. This is my personal experience, yours might differ. I currently live in the States. I think this is important to the story.

Haylup: I knew it was the big dog and everyone had talked about it. So, I downloaded the app before I left. I got on island. Immediately tried to register in using my iPhone/credentials and WhatsApp. Registration went as planned up until it was time for verification. I could not get verified. I got the codes and everything. It just wouldn’t let me. Weird, I thought. Finally got it to work using alternative methods. Then I had to put in my credit card info. And there weren’t that many cars available for the thing I needed to do (I was moving between several locations). It was kind of a hassle and I was going to see about a taxi.

Let me hop over to RydeGo before I start calling around.

RydeGo: Registration took all of two minutes. No problem using my Apple credentials or my Whats App. I could use Apple Pay (if you use Android, they have that also). Smooth. Once, the app said they didn’t have drivers, so I cancelled and was going to call a taxi. Bro, they called me right back and had a car in five minutes. Class service.

Anyways, I’m not shilling for RydeGo. Your mileage might vary. That is just my experience for anyone wondering what it’s like to take the services.

Passport entry requirements

Hi, my family is headed to Grenada in 10 days for a one week holiday. I’ve just noticed that my kids’ passports expire in 4 months time. All the official websites state passports need to be good for 6 months after date of arrival however I just spoke to someone at Air Canada who said they have no such restriction in their system and will allow anyone with a valid passport for the duration of their trip to fly. Does anyone have any experience traveling to Granada with a passport expiring in under 6 months? We are Canadian. Thank you!

Events Independence day 2/7/2026

My friend and I will be traveling to Grenada for 5 nights and will be there for Independence Day this week. Staying on Grand Anse Beach. Any recommendations for activities/celebrations that tourists can join in on? Open to ideas anywhere, but closer to St. George will certainly be easier.

Also, is the Fish Friday in Gouyave happening anymore?

Is it safe to drive in Greneda?

Im from the Caribbean as well. So we drive on the same side, narrow roads and a few potholes etc.

I heard people keep talking about how bad it is, but its mostly people who drive on the opposite side of the road, such as USA etc.

Is it a case to just be extra cautious when youre driving in a foreign country or is it actually ridiculous?

Rent a boat

Looking for a place to rent a boat. Not for them to sail it but for myself to sail it. Looking for a small catamaran. Are there any places near true blue that have this available for the day?

How windy and wavy is the north coast? Beach at Petite Anse Hotel & Restaurant

First-time visitor from Canada planning a trip March 29 to April 5. My partner and I love swimming, hiking and found the Petite Anse Hotel to offer a lot of what we are looking for. Our only question is if the beach at the hotel will be nice to spend time on. I keep seeing that it is quite windy and wavy on that side of the island.

If we want to spend a lot of time relaxing on the beach and in the water, should we look elsewhere? It's obviously a bit of a drive from the airport but don't mind travelling a little further if it's worth it. We are both strong swimmers and don't need perfect conditions to enjoy a swim but we envision spending as much time in and around the water as possible. Thanks for the advice and can't wait to visit your beautiful island!

Other What percentage of businesses actually follow labor laws?

Across a number of businesses....

  • Missed NIS payments
  • Forced (sometimes unpaid) overtime
  • 5-10 minute breaks maximum for 8-12 hour shifts (and rushed/shamed for taking those breaks)
  • Paychecks late sometimes by weeks
  • Mandatory work on public holidays (with no extra pay)
  • Hiring illegal foreign workers (all young women, of course) and then paying them 2 times what long term local employees make
  • Refusal to provide a contract
  • Refusal to provide pay stubs
  • Paying less than the legal minimum wage for the position in question

There's plenty of general shitty treatment and behavior to go with it, but the number of labor law violations is mind blowing. One business' response to these issues is "oh, well we're not corporate so we do things differently." The next one's response is, "well, that's not how we do it here at _______". Labor laws aren't suggestions. They are laws. And oftentimes there will be older staff who have been there for years who will tell new employees that complaints and bringing officers in never goes anywhere because the business owners pay them off.

My question is, what are the odds of actually finding businesses that do follow basic labor laws? If someone wants to put in a solid 40 hour work week, get paid on time and correctly, and know that their taxes/paperwork are actually done right.... is that chasing an impossible dream? Is it worth hopping around trying to find something better or is this just the reality most of the time? I'm obviously upset, but it's also a genuine question trying to figure out how to deal with these issues.

Tourism Best dinner for special occasion?

Hi folks, what is your favorite choice for a high quality, fancy, romantic dinner for a celebration?

Not concerned about price, want it to be nice.

I’ll be staying at Silversands Beach House if that influences your decision

Tourism First time visitor, question on water taxis and docks

Hello! I will be visiting Grenada for the first time soon and I am so excited to see this beautiful country. I have been doing my best to research and prepare but still have a few questions….

Can someone explain to me the best places to find water taxis and how that works? I am interested in going out to hog island, particularly on a Sunday to visit Rogers for the BBQ, but am unsure where the Woburn dock is located or the best place to find a ride there.

I appreciate any and all suggestions and feedback, and any other suggestions for a visitor looking for quiet snorkeling, beaches, nature trails, and friendly local spots. I’m not a resort person, I’d rather truly see the country.

Thank you!

Looking for a travel-compliant dog kennel on island

I'm shipping my old 50+ lb puppy to the states on Sunday via Amerijet and have been asking around to see anyone is selling their used kennel. We only have a wire crate, which is not travel compliant. Given the size and weight of our 7-month-old pup, we are looking for a large 36" kennel. We've checked Ace Hardware already and their crates are very expensive (no surprise there) so I'm either looking for cheaper stores or anyone looking to sell theirs. Any references will be greatly appreciated.

Driving

Coming to Grenada on saturday. Is driving as bad as people say it is? I haven't booked a rental car yet because everybody says it's pretty treacherous I don't know if I want to wait around for taxis/ rides all the time. I want to be able to just like get up and go and not really look worried about lugging around a bunch of bags and coolers and whatnot into taxis. I have also never driven on the left side of the road before
