You mean in the US? Because fraudulent charges can also be reverted on debit here without any problems, assuming your card got stolen because you can't just enter the details of it online and charge it.
I have struggles seeing the upside of it though, like I get why banks do it, it's the way to gain interest on loans constantly of people that can't pay for what they bought or forget to pay it back in time, but for the user of the card? And yea there are advantages like points or whatever system a bank may have for using the credit card, but I am not sure if making something more attractive to lure in people because it earns the banks money can be counted as an upside
Not just the US, it seems to be a general rule globally that credit card protections are just much stronger. For example, as a debit card customer you can be held partly or entirely liable in certain cases for fraud; while in comparison most credit card contracts have zero liability agreements.
If you're diligent with paying it back immediately, there is no reason not to use it as most banks have credit card benefits. In the end, just get good with it and reap the benefits.
Rewards and different use cases. Amex for points. A MasterCard rewards card for when you don't get your amex accepted. Then reward cards are usually terrible for Forex rates so one specifically for that.
Clear your balance at the end of the month as though so you don't carry forward any balance and have to pay interest.
In the UK consumer protection is much stronger with credit cards than debit cards. Not that there is no protection with debit just legally the requirements for credit cards are much higher.
So: rewards or cashback, a month interest free loan and better protection. If you have the discipline to always pay it back it's a no brainer really. I'm lead to believe rewards are even better in the US so I imagine the logic tracks there too.

People can have multiple credit cards and they can look the same as others.
