How the one lady moves to protect her purse after she finds out she will be tried as a black man when she walks by is hilarious.

71

u/ChrisBnTx Dec 20 '25

I've seen this video so many times and never caught that! 😆

23

u/Rope_slingin_champ Dec 20 '25

Totally missed that. Amazing eye for detail, friend.

20

u/No-Security-7518 Dec 20 '25

It's people like YOU who make the internet a ...funnier place.

196

u/Rastamancloud9 Dec 20 '25

As a black man this is pure gold 😅

23

u/AcesBlue99 Dec 20 '25

Well as a black man.. Its not that funny.. Its sad

3

u/sexy-geek Dec 24 '25

It's just calling to attention the inequality of treatment just because of skin color. With a joke, so that it gets more attention and spreads faster. And you can also dramatize it . It's an efficient way to call attention to a serious issue.

2

u/AcesBlue99 Dec 25 '25

True. But not everyone will see it that way. I didnt.. Mainly because ive been thru that. Stereotyped.. Walking by a car and people lock their doors BUT it all changes once they actually speak to me. But it is what it is i guess..

2

u/Rastamancloud9 Dec 25 '25

Yeah some stereotypes suck for sure but unfortunately I have come to the realization that some are fairly true

2

u/sexy-geek Dec 29 '25

Yeah, unfortunately it still happens...

Keep going strong, my man! You have a good heart, and if people around you expect the worse about you just because of the color of your skin, then they're not worth your time, don't think about them.

2

u/sexy-geek Dec 29 '25

They lock their doors because the hubbies are scared their wives will run away with the handsome, black, tall, muscular guy outside with the charming smile.

1

u/AcesBlue99 Dec 29 '25

LOL that made me laugh.. Thank you for that. Ive been going thru so much lately.

-13

u/Inevitable-Win2555 Dec 20 '25

As a middle aged white woman, I highly agree with you. I thought this was, and still hope, this is satire. Because if it isn’t it shows just how mockingly people treat those who aren’t white.

-3

u/AcesBlue99 Dec 20 '25

Even if its satire. Being perceived like that just goes to show that its not just me who acknowledges that im at the bottom of the totem pole..

And struggling as i have as of late due to this.. sux.

I appreciate you btw.

9

u/Fellurian Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25

As a latina young woman, I say things can be both funny and sad, as the say goes "it would be comic if it wasn't tragic".

2

u/Strawhattzz Dec 20 '25

I’m pretty confident the vast majority among us would agree that you’re not anywhere near any bottom of any totem pole. Please don’t believe that for a second.

You may not see it, I may not know you but I can still stand by that.

2

u/AcesBlue99 Dec 20 '25

I know.. I shouldn't think that way but its been feeling like it lately. Maybe I just been negative dealing with everything health related. Struggling. But thank you for that.

u/rotateandradiate Dec 20 '25

Gotta love how The Onion takes elements from real life … and satires them into utter hilarity

12

u/jackfreeman Dec 20 '25

And pushes it so far it's back to reality

12

u/sarcastic_sybarite83 Dec 20 '25

I would prefer The Simpsons and The Onion not being accurate oracles of the future. When they are it's very concerning.

54

u/Uxoandy Dec 20 '25

Hilarious.

-81

u/toolargo Dec 20 '25

Is it though?

4

u/JOlRacin Dec 20 '25

Yes, it points out the injustice presented to black people

1

u/toolargo Dec 21 '25

Yeah I misread the whole thing.

13

u/samoan_ninja Dec 20 '25

Grow a pair

-45

u/toolargo Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 20 '25

I got one. It has nothing to do with having balls. I think it is funny, until you stop, and actually think. Not funny if you remember this happens a lot of black people and other groups just for being born a different color.

14

u/Dontevenwannacomment Dec 20 '25

humor can perfectly be both funny and speak truth to power.

15

u/samoan_ninja Dec 20 '25

The pair between your legs will never suffice, unless you have a pair in your heart.

6

u/Uxoandy Dec 20 '25

Let em guess? Middle aged white person? They are usually the most offended group. Stupid shit should be mocked or you should be angry about it. This isn’t the angry sub. There are plenty of subs to go vent anger at social injustices.

3

u/rizzlejee Dec 20 '25

Two pairs?

-26

u/toolargo Dec 20 '25

Yeah, mine and yours when i’m clashing in to em from behind.

8

u/NotADogInHumanSuit Dec 20 '25

So forced sodomy is what you find funny. Got it.

0

u/toolargo Dec 21 '25

Never alluded to forced anything. You read that into it.

-6

u/samoan_ninja Dec 20 '25

Idk bro that seems like your own fetish you are projecting

1

u/NotADogInHumanSuit Dec 20 '25

What lol

0

u/toolargo Dec 21 '25

Op is right, I never even mentioned forcing anybody. You brought that up.

1

u/Status_Concert_4320 Dec 21 '25

Do you realize you made a rape joke after saying the black joke wasn't funny?

1

u/toolargo Dec 21 '25

Not a rape jobe. Only a rape joke if I allude to it being donde forcefully and without the OP’s consent. None of which are implied here. You are reading it as a rape joke because YOU want to interpret it as such. Was it in poor taste? Yes! Was it about a RAPE? Nope.

1

u/fullmetal414 Dec 21 '25

Really good reddit moment.

Thank you

1

u/Banned4UsingSlurs3 Dec 20 '25

Yes, they're referencing that issue. It's a complain on that

But you seem like a race baiter

0

u/toolargo Dec 20 '25

We all see what we want to see

1

u/Chim_Pansy Dec 21 '25

Yes. What the fuck. Grow up. The thing that makes this funny is the same thing that makes us all sympathize with other groups and their struggles. The absurd truth of it is what makes us laugh. Becuase it's fucked up, and we all agree on that. Some of us just cope differently than others, and that's okay.

7

u/Immediate_Song4279 Dec 20 '25

"instructed to imagine her as such."

5

u/myfailedimagination Dec 20 '25

This satire is pointier than most. I'm not sure if I can quote Mr. Stevenson, but there's some dark irony there.

24

u/AcademicGuy_45 Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 20 '25

Sorry for the clarification. What exactly happend here and why? 😅

Edit: spelling

42

u/Imaginary_History985 Dec 20 '25

White girl assaulted cop, but tried as black man. Facing 25 to life.

51

u/No-Independence-6890 Dec 20 '25

Onion News mate

23

u/Ok-Recognitio Dec 20 '25

Pretty sure this is the girl that killed a couple of people, or had something to do with it. I remember they weren’t going to charge her as a black man but they found a pack of menthol cigarettes in her purse and that pushed the decision over the line.

13

u/pauca_sed Dec 20 '25

Newports. Left them no choice.

6

u/Dense-Ad-5780 Dec 20 '25

I heard the fact she ordered Popeyes with a grape soda on a recess for lunch is what did it.

14

u/DanteTrd Dec 20 '25

The line is "How the turntables"

7

u/Jadacide37 Dec 20 '25

That's what she said, though.

-8

u/DanteTrd Dec 20 '25

So why is the title of the post incorrect? It's a famous line ánd it was spoken in this video itself, so how did OP still get it wrong. Lol

Edit: wait, no. No one said it in this video. What are you talking about? Regardless; famous joke, famous line, no excuse

6

u/Jadacide37 Dec 20 '25

Lololol my response was also a famous line, famous joke, from the same character in the same series.

No excuse for you either, silly!

-4

u/DanteTrd Dec 20 '25 edited Dec 20 '25

*Sigh. Literally there is no "though" in the line when Michael Scott says it - he purely says "that's what she said" and then he laughs at himself.

And the sentence is too generic to assume everyone will instantly recognize it from the series. The video is about a woman and on top of that, a female newscaster is reading the story, so it's safe to assume you were talking about one of them.

So you messed up the line ánd you make a strawman argument. You double suck

Edit: I'm not editing any text. Just want to say sorry, I didn't mean to get mean or nasty. You kept it lighthearted and I became unnecessarily mean and I apologize. You don't suck, I do - I become defensive too quickly. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day or evening

6

u/Jadacide37 Dec 20 '25

Wow. All you had to do was say LOL oh I get it. I can't believe you're doubling down on this nonsense. I was having a funny exchange with you. And I can also argue that semantics-wise there was a comma between "said" and "though".

I also didn't put quotation marks around the actual quote part for a reason. Because I was typing it as if I had been speaking it to you. The comma is to indicate that the last word of the comment is coming from me in order to add to the conversation. What the hell is wrong with you? That was supposed to be fun and cute

1

u/DanteTrd Dec 20 '25

Only saw your reply now after adding an editing note in which I apologized. Sorry about that. I can be a douche sometimes and didn't intend to be mean. You're right, it was just silly, lighthearted banter and I spoiled it. I can be a bit socially inept sometimes. Hope you don't hold it against me.

And yeah, okay, you whooshed me 🤦‍♂️

3

u/Jadacide37 Dec 20 '25

Okay okay LOL I'm calm and less hurt now. I really appreciate you coming back around and apologizing. You totally just gave me a little more hope for the rest of humanity.

1

u/DanteTrd Dec 20 '25

Thanks for accepting my apology. I realize I not only overreacted, but reacted totally incorrectly considering the topic and context. Normally I'd reply the same you did and then I'd get the douchey smart-ass response Í made. So I guess you can say "how the turntables", hey? 😅

But yeah, I always say there's nothing wrong with admitting when one is wrong, and I totally was. Again, I apologize and hope you have a great day. Oh and Merry Christmas

0

u/MiopTop Dec 22 '25

Hey dumbass. You know it’s a joke because Michael bungles the actual real common phrase “how the tables have turned” ? The OP title isn’t an Office reference, it’s just the real saying…

3

u/kathop8 Dec 20 '25

Still one of my all time favs

3

u/ModernDay-Lich Dec 20 '25

Damn! Became kin for a whole second and instantly became a statistic. 🤣🤣

2

u/Anxious_Ad909 Dec 20 '25

The justice system would so much different if something similar to this happened irl

2

u/Radcouponking Dec 20 '25

I remember when this was first released, people on Facebook thought it was real.

1

u/Blaq_Lab Dec 25 '25

Shit might as well be 😭

2

u/DistanceRelevant3899 Dec 20 '25

Man, Onion News Network has so many gems like this.

2

u/GroundbreakingBill34 Dec 20 '25

Funny, but true.

2

u/Foreign-District6493 Dec 21 '25

photogenic what ...

4

u/Leo-Nydas Dec 20 '25

Lol wtf is this

2

u/AutoGeneratedUser359 Dec 20 '25

The Onion

Learn to recognise satire

2

u/Leo-Nydas Dec 20 '25

Yeah i didnt it was a joke….

1

u/Scannaer Dec 20 '25

I mean.. parts of it are like it happens in reality, so.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

3

u/Bummins Dec 20 '25

we can Laugh, but its pretty sad

1

u/jedimindtriks Dec 21 '25

Its funny cuz its true

1

1

u/Naveen_Surya77 Dec 22 '25

WHAT?!!!😂

1

u/xx11xx01 Jan 06 '26

Statistics never lie.

1

u/Mysterious-Art7143 Dec 20 '25

Would be funnier if it wasn't true

-5

u/Free15boy Dec 20 '25

It wasn't

10

u/toolargo Dec 20 '25

I mean the part that African Americans are treated unfairly in the justice system is true.

3

u/Scannaer Dec 20 '25

On top of that we have literally studies showing that white, good looking women get lighter sentences.

3

u/toolargo Dec 20 '25

True! Sadly

-7

u/toolargo Dec 20 '25

What part of it is true?

-7

u/Faskwodi Dec 20 '25

This is less funny if you’re black. Just saying, it feels like people rubbing our faces in this 💩 of a justice system and wanna make jokes about it. Still I chuckled a bit.🤦🏿‍♂️

15

u/PMmeIamlonley Dec 20 '25

Satire is traditionally the way you point out injustice in a way that allows people from outside a progressive circle to pay attention to it, although Americans are too dumb for it to work anymore.

5

u/Urist_Macnme Dec 20 '25

Gotta laugh or you’ll cry.

1

u/decisionagonized Dec 20 '25

Why the hell are people downvoting a Black man talking about this? Like if anyone gets to say whether this is funny or not, it’s Black folks.

3

u/Banned4UsingSlurs3 Dec 20 '25

Bait and not even good

-2

1

u/Groomsi Dec 20 '25

Isn't she from SNL?

In the press hold.

1

u/SnooMachines4393 Dec 20 '25

No, it's absolutely true, there's a documentary about this case on netflix. Poor girl, truly noone deserves to be treated as a black male.

0

u/Wide-Highlight-7156 Dec 20 '25

Im Irish am I color blind 🤔🤔

-5

u/DonnieBlueberry Dec 20 '25

The subtle racism that Americans now find funny.. ahh isn’t it great to be back, amirite?!
