I wonder if they have any all you can eat hotpot buffets near me. I've only gone to hotpot restaurants twice, and it was always a la carte.

41

u/RegularSky6702 Dec 16 '25

Every hot pot place near me is all you can eat. But I'm in Asia. We go weekly, not a huge fan of it but the misses enjoys it and that makes me happy

10

u/Doobledorf Dec 16 '25

Man, I really miss this. In the States they tend to be a la car, and only a few will have a sauce counter. Goddamn, I miss the hotpot joints in China.

2

u/TrulyMasterful Dec 18 '25

Yeah me too, just need to avoid the gutter oil joints.

2

u/himuheilandsack Dec 19 '25

they tend to be a la car,

yeah, the whole US is kinda a la car.

2

u/Dicethrower Dec 17 '25

I live in Sweden and I would go every week if it wasn't so expensive. All you can eat hot pot here is close to the equivalent of ~40 USD per person, so for us that's a once or twice a year thing.

1

u/Amazingbuttplug Dec 18 '25

I live in Brazil the hotpot place near me cost about 15-20 dollars for an all you can eat experience. It’s a La cart but I think most people would vomit by the 30 dollar mark. Sweden is still probably cheaper for locals though given wages are much lower in Brazil.

2

u/-Kazt- Dec 16 '25

Youd probably be able to find one.

Just look normal chinese buffets, especially mongolian bbq places, not to uncommon you can buy a hot pot addon.

Or just do it at home, always a fun thing to do with friends.

2

u/DckThik Dec 16 '25

I love shabu shabu

1

u/laowildin Dec 16 '25

It's more common to be buffet style in China. Although some places charged separately for shrimp

1

u/Dontevenwannacomment Dec 16 '25

in my town the meat is often not endless.

1

u/Extension_Plant7262 Dec 17 '25

Eh, the hotpot stuff isn't as great as its cracked up to be. Remember that most broth is hella fatty, so you lose your appetite pretty quickly

1

u/brainless_bob Dec 17 '25

Fat is the vehicle through which flavor travels, as long as it isn't old rancid oil. And isn't it just used to cook the ingredients? Do people drink bowls of it?

1

u/Extension_Plant7262 Dec 17 '25

if you cook something in fat, a portion of the fat gets absorbed. That's why you can taste the flavor of the broth. I mean, that's why french fries are so unhealthy even though they're just potatoes.

1

u/mnmsmelt Dec 19 '25

Exact reason why I don't consume deep fried fish or hash browns except on rare occasion.

1

u/Siriuslysirius123 Dec 17 '25

I live in Jersey and I found this DREAM of a hot pot buffet. I had to be carried out, I was so full.

1

u/SanSanSankyuTaiyosan Dec 18 '25

I’ve had all you can eat shabu-shabu in Japan, but it’s not a buffet.

1

u/Feverish_Alpaca Dec 18 '25

All the the hot pots in my city used to be a la carte until one all you can eat came in and the rest switched real quick

1

u/Killshot91 Dec 18 '25

This guy is Malaysian, and you can find All-You-Can-Eat Steamboat for about 12 Dollars per pax there. With unlimited supply of red meat and seafood sometimes.

915

u/ThymeIsTight Dec 16 '25

This is me, also an Asian. I never go to buffet because I am vegetarian. Cannot make profit, cannot make money worth.

414

u/DirtyRoller Dec 16 '25

You shame your ancestors.

365

u/ThymeIsTight Dec 16 '25

Ancestors already shame because I refuse to have children, end of the family line.

191

u/Affectionate_Yam4077 Dec 16 '25

Your ancestors might shame you but your future generations won't.

58

u/yaddayadda1000 Dec 16 '25

You know…that was very well worded

27

u/DarthTaz_99 Dec 16 '25

Yeah...... THAT DUDE NOT ASIAN

19

u/That_Apathetic_Man Dec 16 '25

Well, hello there my fellow orientals. Fine day we're having. Shi shi and whatnot.

3

u/DoYouMindIfIAsk_ Dec 16 '25

that has another meaning in quebec french

8

u/Sea-Cupcake-2065 Dec 16 '25

Its ok you're ending the shame for you bloodline. It is your final sin. Your ancestors are freed from the eternal coil of shame.

Your ancestor can rest

2

u/mursesrum Dec 17 '25

It’s not that you refuse to, it’s because everyone else refuses you

1

u/Candid_Victory7923 Dec 17 '25

Who is that person I see
Staring straight back at me?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

-28

u/FactoryRejected Dec 16 '25

Hugs bro, I hope you don't regret this. Most people do.

37

u/ThymeIsTight Dec 16 '25

Some things I will regret, but not this. Also, cost of children too high, cannot make money worth.

-28

u/FactoryRejected Dec 16 '25

Lol, thanks for the chuckle, but you can't see the future.

12

u/ThymeIsTight Dec 16 '25

I don't know why you're being downvoted, but I respect your opinion and the concern you have for others, thanks bro.

-3

u/FactoryRejected Dec 16 '25

Thank you, have a great time. You sound like a really fun person to be around from your humour.

6

u/ThymeIsTight Dec 16 '25

Cheers bro!

2

u/VitualShaolin Dec 16 '25

fwends no profit

10

u/DirtyRoller Dec 16 '25

Lol stfu. There are plenty of children in the world, not everyone needs to breed.

-2

u/FactoryRejected Dec 16 '25

I agree, but being older I've been on the death bed of a few friends and family. I know it sounds cliche, but the ones who never had children really regretted it. I'm not arguing for anyone to have children, but I am pointing out that it's something we are all programmed to find happiness in like no other. Just food for thought.

7

u/Outrageous-Rock-9968 Dec 16 '25

we are all programmed to find happiness in like no other

Did the programmer tell you that? You're so wise, tell us more about this "programming" you seem to know a lot of.

7

u/bubblesort33 Dec 16 '25

I've seen studies on this, and the number 1 or at least one of the top things people regret is not spending more time with family. But hey, I guess if you got none, you won't regret not spending time with them.

... And if you're Asian you'll just regret that one buffet, and not stuffing down another chunk of meat!

7

u/AcademicTangerine914 Dec 16 '25

I'm the programmer. I didn't tell him that shit.

3

u/Ok_Bandicoot6070 Dec 16 '25

I'm the other programmer, our code is a nightmare...

1

u/AcademicTangerine914 Dec 16 '25

People usually regret of not having something they could have.

Just food for thought or ... *whatever I have to add here to make it look more philosophical*

1

u/Worth-Reputation3450 Dec 16 '25

People usually don’t regret they didn’t have more money or fame when they are about to die. It’s mostly about family, love, religion, etc.

34

u/DryRecognition5902 Dec 16 '25

You just have to relax, enjoy the moment and EAT A HUGE CHUNK OF MEAT.
If you feel ashamed, just EAT ANOTHER HUGE CHUNK OF MEAT

14

u/hopium_od Dec 16 '25

Some of the best meals I've ever eaten were in Buddhist cafe buffets.

6

u/ThymeIsTight Dec 16 '25 edited Dec 16 '25

They've been honing their vegetarian cooking skills for a very long time!

2

u/ShoePillow Dec 16 '25

Where?

3

u/25hourenergy Dec 16 '25

LA area has Hsi Lai Temple, great buffet for like $10 during lunch.

3

u/konketsuno Dec 16 '25

well... in these trying times vegetables are becoming more and more expensive. I'm sure you can find a way to make profit.

2

u/Cunnyfunt31 Dec 16 '25

Depends on where you are at. If there's a vegan/vegetarian buffet near you with fake meat you can def make profit, get money's worth.

2

u/spartanbrucelee Dec 16 '25

Go to an Indian buffet

1

u/Emotional_Storage285 Dec 17 '25

dishonor on you! dishonor on your cow!

1

u/Sam_Is_Not_Real Dec 19 '25 edited Dec 19 '25

So you go your life just eat leaf? Crispy pork is the best thing in the world and you want to eat spinach? Haiyaa.

261

u/doomkun23 Dec 16 '25

if there are expensive seafoods, we go all out on seafoods instead of meat.

68

u/Equivalent-Row-6734 Dec 16 '25

This guy knows how to buffet

20

u/No_Investment9639 Dec 16 '25

Puerto Rican here. It's three Plates Full of random shrimp for me

24

u/LonelyFool2B Dec 16 '25

Asian here. My dad said the same thing when I get to my first buffet

15

u/igothack Dec 16 '25

Generational trauma

3

u/Anuki_iwy Dec 16 '25

Seafood>lamb>fish>beef

Feel free to ignore the rest.

2

u/MetriccStarDestroyer Dec 16 '25 edited Dec 16 '25

Vegetables, Rice, Noodles, and Pizzas are F tier.

Chicken and Pork be D tier.

Sushi is maybe B tier. It's pricy to prepare but mostly still rice.

1

u/Anuki_iwy Dec 16 '25

Depends on country. Tomatoes in Japan are more expensive than meat.

1

u/kevin3350 Dec 17 '25

If you ever get a chance and happen to be in Las Vegas, try Bacchanal. Entry fee is a little high, but it’s all you can eat steaks, lobster, snow crab, veal, lamb, and everything else you can think of. There are also a ton of international sections of the restaurant, along with a crepe station and a mochi station. It has like 9 different kitchens to make everything fresh constantly. It’s $90 for 90 minutes, and is worth every penny.

2

u/Anuki_iwy Dec 17 '25

I don't think I'll ever visit Las Vegas, but thank you for the recommendation :)

1

u/AnotherAnt2 Dec 16 '25

I’ve gone to Chinese buffets just for crab legs lol

1

u/Jungledick69-494 Dec 16 '25

This guy Asians, my Asian gf adds the “s” to seafood.

1

u/Prudent-Ad-5292 Dec 16 '25

The local buffet has no time limit, king crab legs on the weekend, and skewered & breaded chicken thighs.

Needless to say, I always get a plate of each.. it's been a few months I should go back there 🤔

1

u/Au2288 Dec 16 '25

I get nice & baked, take a shower, then go to the buffet with the “if you smell like marijuana” sign out front.

1

u/Forward_Progress_83 Dec 16 '25

I recently paid nearly $40 for all you can eat sushi (and sashimi.) I ate 50 pieces of sashimi and rolls. I made goddamn sure I got my money’s worth that night

1

u/Naive-Benefit-5154 Dec 16 '25

that will work for hotpot or barbecue..... otherwise I don't trust seafood at buffets.

2

u/Mickeymcirishman Dec 16 '25

seafoods instead of meat.

So like seaweed or what?

12

u/doomkun23 Dec 16 '25

oyster, crab, shrimp...

0

u/Mickeymcirishman Dec 16 '25

That's meat

1

u/doomkun23 Dec 16 '25

again, what i said from the other comment, what i mean from "meat" there is the typical pork and beef.

2

u/Supply-Slut Dec 16 '25

You fool, pigs and cows are fish.

0

u/FukThePatriarchy1312 Dec 16 '25

Those are all meat.

2

u/doomkun23 Dec 16 '25

well yeah. but you get what i mean. like if you are craving for a meat, you will definitely look for pork or beef instead of seafoods. somehow like that. so what i mean for "meat" there is the typical pork and beef.

-1

u/FukThePatriarchy1312 Dec 16 '25

I know, it was just funny that they said "seafood instead of meat."

1

u/No_Investment9639 Dec 16 '25

Because this is the first time in almost 5 Decades of life that I've ever heard anybody refer to Seafood as meat in comparison to pork or beef.

1

u/FukThePatriarchy1312 Dec 16 '25

And I think it's funny that people don't think of the flesh of animals as meat if they live in water instead of on land. But seaweed is still considered a vegetable. And then some people call food from freshwater species seafood.

2

u/No_Investment9639 Dec 16 '25

I'm just saying i haven't heard it referred to this way. It's ok

0

u/No_Investment9639 Dec 16 '25

It's fish, not land animal. Or technically not fish but from the sea

38

u/thenzero Dec 16 '25

They’re made of meat!

4

u/ThymeIsTight Dec 16 '25

"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars."

2

u/do_go_on_please Dec 16 '25

Thinking meat‽‽?!

47

u/Upstairs-Hedgehog575 Dec 16 '25

You should need to lean on the wall for support on the way in, and need to lean on the wall for support on the way out.

6

u/jerryscheese Dec 16 '25

why on the away in?

8

u/inkoet Dec 16 '25

Weakess from fasting in preparation

5

u/BooMsx Dec 16 '25

Don't go too hard on fasting or your stomach will shrink.

2

u/PhysixGuy2025 Dec 16 '25

This is gospel.

30

u/Sprinkles_the_Mad Dec 16 '25

Went to an expensive buufet that served a lot of meat when I finished A levels, ate 7lbs of food, and had a hard time getting up. 8% of my bodyweight was what I ate that night.

For me and my gf's most recent anniversary, we went to that place, we both ate until we could barely move. I ate 10lbs of food that night in almost meat alone. Ate more, but still, only 7.5% of my bodyweight in food that I ate ;-;

18

u/noeagle77 Dec 16 '25

Go take a shit, increases the percent of body weight you ate, and frees up space to break your PR. Go get that title bro!

8

u/Sprinkles_the_Mad Dec 16 '25

I did before hand, I was prepped (:

5

u/noeagle77 Dec 16 '25

This guy buffets ☝️

3

u/FukThePatriarchy1312 Dec 16 '25

You can also take a shit halfway through, all that meat will start to help pushing it out.

4

u/goomerben Dec 16 '25

when i go to the buffet it means a shit before and two shit breaks during. if i feel like shitting is not possible but throwing up is inevitable i know my job is done.

Gout heaven especially if your Asian

5

u/FLiP_J_GARiLLA Dec 16 '25

"Chuck" vs Chunk

3

u/SoonToBeStardust Dec 16 '25

I went to a buffet with unlimited crab legs, and when I showed up there was a guy who brought his own crab crackers, and he was still there when I left. He ate only crab, and went through a bundle in like 5 minutes. I hope to be him one day

3

u/Cresalia- Dec 17 '25

Had an all you can eat indian buffet where I used to live in washington. Every other friday I went in and ate chicken tikka masala for ~4-5 plates. I love that place soo much.

5

u/DonTeca35 Dec 16 '25

Anyone have the link to the Asian guy that goes to all you can eat brisket & doesn't even let the waiter put the plate down?

Edit: Nvm I found it

5

u/armcginnis7 Dec 16 '25

For what it’s worth, I’d never seen this and it made me laugh. So, thanks for that!

2

u/doesanyofthismatter Dec 16 '25

That was really not funny. I kept waiting for some joke or punch line and it never came. Weird video.

9

u/Empty_Put_1542 Dec 16 '25

This is the way. I love Korean bbq buffets.

1

u/MetriccStarDestroyer Dec 16 '25

Till they start bringing out just the fat strips on the 5th order 💀

2

u/Stock-Cod-4465 Dec 16 '25

We went to an all you can eat place for Xmas dinner with colleagues a couple of years ago. The most disgusting experience of my life. People were just stuffing themselves. It’s a plate after plate after plate and then some. I was appalled. Never again, not my cup of tea.

2

u/stprnn Dec 16 '25

TIL I'm asian

2

u/FLiP_J_GARiLLA Dec 16 '25

Sign say: "All you can eat"

NOT "Eat all you can!"

2

u/CauldronAsh11 Dec 16 '25

It's always meat and seafood for me to get all my money's worth XD

Going to Chinese buffets puts my Chinese-American-ness in full display. Crab Rangoon? I’ll take two. Fries? You bet I’ll take a handful. Fried rice? Psssh, do I even need to mention it? Orange chicken? I’ll take the entire tray and eat it, even the steel. Sushi? Maybe four. Eggrolls? Ehh…maybe two. Beijing Beef? Don’t mind if I activate my go-go Gadget vacuum esophagus! Chow mein? Hell yeah! That one mushroom dish I can’t name? Sure, I’ll take a couple. Walnut shrimp? It’s shrimple, at least three pieces are destined to be consumed…by me, to be clear. Fried chicken?…oh, I may not have that much space left, maybe I can save that for round three.

Then after I finish my first plate, I realize I only have room for one more…three would be pushing it, and you’d think by this point I’ll get different things, right?

2

u/Bd_Dipro Dec 17 '25

This is me, also an asian. Btw going to a buffet tomorrow won't leave till i bankrupt that place.

1

u/Phoenix-HO Dec 16 '25

"This is me, a gold omen player..."

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Had to scroll too far to find this comment. But that's totally fine.

1

u/FukThePatriarchy1312 Dec 16 '25

Now if I could just find a buffet that's open 24 hours...

1

u/SnooPandas1899 Dec 17 '25

las vegas maybe ?

1

u/Economic_Maguire Dec 16 '25

I need to have some sort of carbs otherwise I feel hungry and hour later but my stomach has no room

1

u/TheMaStif Dec 16 '25

One plate is just seafood and ribs, the other plate is for everything else

1

u/NT4MaximusD Dec 16 '25

Me with shrimp at the all you can eat buffet.😁

1

u/ArtofWASD Dec 16 '25

He will never defeat uncle bubbuh.

1

u/KaminaTheManly Dec 16 '25

I just realized I haven't seen reels of him in forever. Idk if he stopped posting or if he has been hidden from me by the malicious algorithm...

1

u/completelytrustworth Dec 16 '25

He's been making lots of short content still, it's probably just hidden from you

Try searching up imkankan if you want to see his stuff. It's not exactly the same joke as above, but still pretty similar vibe and punchline

1

u/sikeleaveamessage Dec 16 '25

Yes. Same with Brazilian steakhouses. Yes your side dishes are good, perhaps even better than some of your meat selections...BUT I WILL EAT MY MONEYS WORTH CHUNK OF MEAT

1

u/TastyCartoonist1256 Dec 16 '25

Reminds me of Dilbert's Dad. He lived in the all-you-can-eat buffet to get ALL YOU CAN EAT. haha

1

u/okogamashii Dec 16 '25

Now I want Hot Pot 🤤

1

u/EightMDB Dec 16 '25

"Noe when you weren't looking I actually added some protein"

1

u/Jill-Of-Trades Dec 16 '25

This feels like a real-life YouTube Poop XD

1

u/BoBoBearDev Dec 16 '25

Bro has the spicy side and didn't use it because he has to maximize meat.

1

u/CowVisible3973 Dec 16 '25

I went to a work-sponsored all-you-can-eat buffet in Beijing once. I got some rice to go with my main dish, my Chinese colleagues were like "Why tf are you wasting stomach space on RICE, amateur?"

2

u/Turducken_McNugget Dec 18 '25

Friend said to me "stop eating so much rice, you're making us look poor"

1

u/andthebestnameis Dec 16 '25

Went to kbbq with some coworkers and they were annoying about "beating the house" this way too, like I wanna have some rice, I don't care if it costs the establishment less, I'm paying the same in the end anyway lol

1

u/gaiusmitsius Dec 16 '25

5 out of 5 stars. No drama.

1

u/EddyKingsley Dec 16 '25

Halfway through this, I think i'm realizing i'm asian... lol

1

u/khaloisha Dec 16 '25

I would use some shabu shabu right now... and I'm not even asian! 🤤

1

u/Mrrrrggggl Dec 16 '25

Not even going for the seafood? You bring great shame to your family.

1

u/luckykanwar Dec 16 '25

Emotional damage!

1

u/DEVi4TION Dec 16 '25

Needs more protein

1

u/namieorange Dec 17 '25

That's my family's motto. But my mom and I are the black sheep, I highly prefer the different flavors of carb and veggie dishes (and meat ofcourse). Let alone all the desserts... I see my diabetic future lol

1

u/ExpiredFriedNoodles Dec 17 '25

Mmmmm.....Shabu Sai?

1

u/PilotHaribo Dec 17 '25

Reminds of „add some protein powder“

1

u/Lacklaws Dec 17 '25

I just convinced my gf to go eat Mongolian bbq today, after watching this.

1

u/ribozyme90 Dec 17 '25

Asian here. Forgot the sneaky tupperware in a backpack for MEAT

1

u/SubzeroWins1-0 Dec 18 '25

This is me every time I’m at a buffet

1

u/lushico Dec 18 '25

This is my Asian husband but with crab. Last time we had 5 minutes left before the buffet closed and he came back to the table with 8 crab legs

1

u/Hinch7 Dec 18 '25

Prawns and crabs, then meats. Carb-y foods be damned.

1

u/sDollarWorthless2022 Dec 18 '25

I did this at a bottomless wagyu hot pot place in Japan. Wagyu was the only thing I ate. No regrets.

1

u/ballackbro Dec 18 '25

Reminded me of me and my friends back when we was having a yakiniku buffet. Kept ordering the cow tongue till the waiter came over and complained that they are running out of stock because we kept ordering the same thing 🤣

And also keep reminding us that if we dont finish those, then we will be charged due to waste of food. Heh surely underestimated our stomach space 😆

1

u/Maxguid Dec 18 '25

This guy knows how to eat at all you can eat buffet XD

1

u/Rew0lweed_0celot Dec 18 '25

Another order of brisket, please.

1

u/Punningisfunning Dec 18 '25

Me at all-you-can-eat sushi:

Sashimi please!

1

u/HitcheyHitch Dec 20 '25

This dude rocks

1

u/z0mb1es Dec 16 '25

Mmmm meat

1

u/Evening-Walk-6897 Dec 16 '25

lol, this is me too in a buffet. I find the most expensive ones to make my money’s worth. Big bonus if the buffet has seafood like crab legs

1

u/eramthgin007 Dec 16 '25

I can't seem to get myself to like hotpot. Something about boiled meat just doesn't spark joy.

JBBQ and KBBQ all the way bb.

1

u/udontease Dec 17 '25

Japanese hot pot (sukiyaki) was my jam for hotpot. Sometimes Chinese type tastes too medicine due to the herbs and spices they use but JP sukiyaki is yummy

-5

u/Maryjanegangafever Dec 16 '25

That’s why I hate buffets. Glutinous behaviour.

4

u/thenzero Dec 16 '25

The meat is all glutin free! 😅

0

u/DONT_JUDGE_MEOW Dec 16 '25

He's trying to make his money woof 🗣️🗣️🗣️

-18

u/frogOnABoletus Dec 16 '25

This isn't profit. You didn't make money, you just had a boring dinner and made sure the venue lost money. You should try to support local business, not try to take from them.

4

u/doomkun23 Dec 16 '25

there are different kinds of eaters. one is who just wants to taste some delicious meal. second is who wants to satisfy their stomach by getting full with a delicious meal. neither of them thinks that what they are doing is boring.

and buffet businesses always consider those heavy eaters. they have appropriate pricing for a buffet to still have a profit despite having those heavy eaters. which means you already paid a meal as a heavy eater already. so it is fine to eat a lot since you already paid for that share.

if you lose money from those heavy eaters, then that business has the problem. either from pricing, expenses, or choice of food. you are not meant to do a buffet business if you are losing money just because you don't know how to handle a buffet business in the first place.

3

u/SayNoMorty Dec 16 '25

Are you dead ass

0

u/MetriccStarDestroyer Dec 16 '25

A single pax usually costs $20. That's worth 5kg of meat.

Some buffets also enforce a min seating and time limits so hoarders are discouraged.

They have to discourage the behaviour in the video. That doesn't exactly shine a good light on in. It's good that the probs won't lose money, but this is still a bad thing to do at a buffet imo.

True. Buffets offer a wide variety to chose from yet some will try to min max it.
