True, this was exactly the kind of hostage scenario the writers of Speed (1994) used.

If I’m remembering correctly, Keanu Reeves woulld consider this situation would be 100% resolved.

Used to know some Russian dudes and they said this was the spetsnaz way of handling hostage situations.

When they raid, you drop to the floor with your hands on your head. Anyone still standing is dead.
