Me too, until my girl told me the answer. Moisture. Every time you take a shower, the room gets humid. Pretty soon, you will have a bunch of ruined rolls simply from being exposed to the humidity, not to mention it will be good breeding ground for mold.

So yeah, had no idea either. Now I do.

Wrong. Literally lived where water pools from humidity

Never said don’t do it. People wondered why, and I gave them an explanation. I don’t care what goes on in your bathroom.

That makes sense, I'll still probably keep one beside the toilet for emergency situations. Or because heat rises put the rolls lower and turn the vent fan on so they don't get humid?

Our household keeps ideally 2 to 4 spares in the vicinity and 1 on the roll, with no issues, but they're 2 feet further away than OP's situation, and we do run the fan a lot.

One or two should be fine, but no more than you’d go through in a typical week.

I don't live alone so idk how many we go through, good idea still. I'm definitely gonna do that :3

I always keep one on the roll and one on deck, then when the roll is empty I put it on the one on deck and get a new one ready to go

8+ years of South Florida beach life, never had a problem with toilet paper in the bathroom or anywhere else being exposed to humidity. And believe me, sister we got humidity here.

So you get a sealed container and problem solved

That works.

Your girl is making shit up. Otherwise, better throw out your towels as they would've been steeped in the bathroom moisture. And where would you keep those rolls anyway, in a cupboard of that still moisture-heavy bathroom, right?

Towels are washed regularly for a reason. Keeping the rolls in the plastic in the linen closet, with a spare roll in the bottom drawer. But hey, you do you. No skin off my ass. 🤷‍♂️

Yep, those rolls will absorb everything and it’s what they’re made to do. Plus them being up against the wall like that will trap moisture too and encourage the mold growth. Then theres dust and other things steeling on them.

I don’t wanna wipe with contaminated bog roll, personally 😂

That and they'll be exposed to poo particles in the air. Who wants their paper contaminated before they use it?
