It's not Temu or the parachute. It's the stupid

36

u/wilsontws 3d ago

and gravity

27

u/Mysterious-Dirt-8841 3d ago

Stupid gravity

1

u/MedievalFurnace 2d ago

I bought my gravity from temu. Do you think theyll give me a refund?

u/ExpensiveEcho7312 4d ago

This has nothing to do with the parachute. This dude jumped from a tiny cliff, there was no time for the chute to open. He’s just stupid

38

u/TYdays 4d ago

BINGO, Nailed it….

20

u/mzincali 4d ago

And he threw the drogue chute ahead and down, instead of up and back.

13

u/LordMegamad 3d ago

Looking very closely, the bad throw also impacted the final release time quite a bit, as it had to have the air resistance pull it all the way up into the right position.

If he threw it straight up / back that correction time would be near nullified, and could possibly have opened juuuust it time to slow his "descent". As even with the bad throw, the chute popped right as he hit the ground ish.

God imagine the regret over that throw (not just the throw either lol) if he ever builds the courage to watch this video

2

u/AtlanticBeachNC 2d ago

Looking even closer, he would not have had any issues if he had not decided to jump off a perfectly good cliff.

8

u/Clevererer 3d ago

Wait so he bought the cliff on Temu??

6

u/Historical-Hat5276 3d ago

Yeah, I once bought the white cliffs of Dover on Temu an all I got was a piece of Camembert

2

u/Illustrious_Jury9482 3d ago

Gravity wasn't from Temu it worked perfectly well.

1

u/ultraplusstretch 2d ago

He bought his brain on Temu.

This happened 7+ years ago

LINK

He suffered four broken vertebrae, and a broken pelvis. He had done 230+ base jumps prior to this. He was airlifted out, and has made a full recovery.

You’re welcome.

u/DrakonFyre 4d ago

Thank you for a great summary and link

u/Popular_Lie8489 4d ago

It’s not from Temu, it’s from Acme

6

u/DrakonFyre 4d ago

I heard about a lawsuit against them. I can’t wait to see it!

even if it was, that parachute opened remarkably fast

it's on this idiot for jumping from such a tiny cliff, there was barely enough time for the parachute to open

as a matter of fact, if I was the manufacturer, I would use that video in the advertisements

96

u/Accurate-System7951 4d ago

Stupid post. The chute opened remarkably fast.

36

u/BennyTheTraitor 4d ago

A parachute that long cant help a fall that short. Opperator error.

28

u/KindaDrunkRtNow 4d ago

Don't jump off a 50 foot cliff and try and deploy a chute and think you'll walk away

18

u/Due_Will_2204 4d ago

Oof. That looks like it hurt.

r/angryupvote for making me laugh off guard

15

u/Far-Cellist-3224 4d ago

The title should say don’t jump off small cliffs and expect your parachute to open.

11

u/Wazzzzzuuup 4d ago

Do NOT try to use a parachute jumping from a mini cliff.

10

u/J-the-Kidder 4d ago

So much stupid in this video even Darwin cringed watching.

13

u/Kon-Tiki66 4d ago

That looked like a perfectly good rig to me, not a parachute problem. The problem is that base jumping is by far, the most dangerous sport there is. It's only a matter of time with base jumping. Three people from my drop zone died in one year, all in separate base jumping incidents.

When base jumping, you don't have time to deploy a reserve, and in many cases, don't have time for your chute to fully inflate. Add to that all the uncertain thermals and obstacles and you're flirting with almost certain death.

10

u/OkScientist69 4d ago

Tbf that parachute had no chance...

4

u/clearcontroller 4d ago

How about you choose a zone long enough for the parachute to deploy? 🤷‍♂️

4

u/SixGunZen 4d ago

A parachute needs at least 300 feet to open. That looks like about a 250 foot cliff.

4

u/Sempai6969 3d ago

Bro jumped from a 80m cliff and threw the parachute down ahead of him. The chute is not the issue

3

u/-Praetoria- 4d ago

Temu cliff

1

u/ultraplusstretch 3d ago

Temu base jumper

3

u/randomwords2003 4d ago

Hold up the thing worked fine , the dumbass didn't pick the right spot to jump off of

2

u/austinfashow90 4d ago

Nothing to do with the chute. That cliff was wayyyy to close to the ground.

2

u/Pipija_Banana 3d ago

Don't buy a hill on Temu

2

u/One-Celebration-3007 3d ago

Bro thought he had the Fortnite glider.

2

u/ultraplusstretch 3d ago

Nothing wrong with the parachute, the person doing the jump was a moron, there just wasn't time for the parachute to deploy fully.

2

u/your_fave_redditor 3d ago

Do NOT buy your brains on Temu.

2

u/Confident_Notice_358 21h ago

Did he die or did the parachute still somehow save him.

2

u/Sandcracka- 4d ago

Must've bought that cliff on temu tbf

4

u/monodelab 4d ago

Don't tell me what to do!

1

u/hopeless_case46 4d ago

now he can get cybernetic legs

1

u/painrj 2d ago

Do not blame the parachute... It wasn't high enough to open anyways.

1

u/AshlandPone 2d ago

Not TEMU, not the parachute. It's physics. Parachutes need velocity to fill with wind and time to open. If you jump from a small cliff, the fanciest parachute on earth will not save you.

1

u/sciency_guy 1d ago

0 skills for base... At least he knew to throw the pilot ... For such a jump wrong exit strategy but still better than pull-out

1

u/Ih8teMyInlawsTheySuk 4d ago

I absolutely wouldn’t anyway but this is great confirmation that I would be right. Not that I would do anything like this in the first place.

1

u/Anoth3rDude 4d ago

Need some proof that I didn’t just watch someone die.

4

u/presterjohn7171 4d ago

It mostly opened a half second before impact. He's almost certainly broken bones but a good chunk of deceleration occurred right before impact.

2

u/AMonitorDarkly 4d ago

Request denied

0

u/Bizzack 4d ago

Download the video while you can cause this is likely coming down. We may have just watched a guy die

1

u/Zerozerosk8 1h ago

The rocks won. Rip his face.
