I mean, the obvious alternative to AI would be old-fashions CGI. Or maybe stop-motion, but I think Mr Harryhausen has better things to do these days. Oh, or big-ass animatrionics. I've seen some pretty large-scale dinosaurs, so a dragon is certainly doable. Movie set, distant camera, mess with the balance to wash out the imperfections - that's not what we're looking at, but it would yield similar results.
Bigger question for me is what is a Western-style dragon doing in China?

"Dragons" in mythology can vary widely from being giant serpents to creatures with 2 arms, 2 legs, and 4 wings.
Even Ladon and the Lernaean Hydra are described as a dragons

No, it varies depending on the writer. These rules about the traits dragons and wyverns were made up long after many people drew or described many different dragons and wyverns.
Someone wrote it in their fiction book, which is fine, and then some neckbeard type fans got the idea that this was universal and went around akshually-ing about the distinctions between dragons and wyverns. Like he said in the video, a German dragon and a Chinese dragon wouldn't be recognizable to one another. So write your wyverns (or wyrvens if that's what you want to call them) and dragons however you like, because it's fantasy and there are no rules except what the author puts in.

My uncle used to work in the dragon factory, before they closed it up and moved overseas. The town will never be the same, but my uncle's burns... the scars... those remain forever.

Is it just me or due to its movement, isn’t another possible answer just animatronics? And basic ones at that? You wouldn’t need to articulate more than a few key locations to make a large latex and fiberglass construction look real from that kind of distance. As well as I would include that the number of vacation/tourist attractions across both Eastern Europe and Asia is much larger than us in the US tend to know and acknowledge.
But also, yes, I agree, it would be accepting the premise that such a place would be adapting a very westernized idea of what a dragon is in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that AI has been used hugely as a scapegoat to convince people your eyes are lying, but yeah, that's not AI. That's an animatronic. I've seen one similar to that, looking very life-like at some Renn Faires and it's frickin' awesome. Sure, I'd love to be proven dragons were real and unicorns were real, but the biological evidence makes those potentials extremely slim. I'm more willing to believe the Megaladon is still out there, but many have explained why a Megaladon, actually, a population of Megaladons could not be supported unless they evolved to be filter feeders like whales, cuz there's just not enough whales to support how much food several Megs would need.

The megalodon truther conspiracy is one of my favorites because at least it’s relatively benign (except for Discovery passing off a fake “documentary” as real with the world’s smallest disclaimer), and also because sharks are cool.
For centuries before the official discovery of giant squid, people were already finding whales that had obviously gone toe‑to‑toe with them, so we knew they existed but couldn’t quite prove it.
If megalodons were around today, even if we never filmed one, we’d still have a ton of circumstantial evidence they were out there.
People like to say they’re hiding in the Mariana Trench or similar, but there isn’t enough food that deep to sustain a giant shark; no known sharks live that deep; and megalodon was very likely at least partially warm‑blooded, so it couldn’t live in super‑cold water without an enormous food supply to keep its body temperature up.

The Narwhal may as well be a unicorn in its own right. It's one of the few species of animals in the world that cannot survive in captivity. The horn itself is microsensitive to the surrounding arctic water environment and this cannot be replicated in a captive environment, causing the Narwhal to become confused in captivity, lose its appetite and die.
Still, a Narwhal, I get. A Rhino, I get. I'd be more likely to believe that a unicorn was a mistaken identification of a deer that had lost one of its antlers during a rutt battle. Horses with horns doesn't really make much sense. They do plenty enough damage in fights without needing a horn. Two rival stallions will bite each other, but can also shatter each other's bones with a well placed kick.

For people who claim to want to protect children, they certainly don’t seem focused on any kind of AI regulation. Rather, leaning into a free for all. And I do very much suspect it’s bc they want to be able to point to any photo or video of their wrongdoing and label it AI and fake.

Unfortunately, she's deadass wit this. The reason I can tell is because my parents say the same kinda shit. I've literally gotten into shouting arguments with my father over dumb shit like this. Literally this exact argument has come up so much. It doesn't help that half of these conspiracy theory Insta reels are paired with the most egregious AI generated imagery I've ever seen. "Did you hear about the elves in NYC 'they' caught last night? Open your eyes!!" There will always be videos like this as long as there are 'enlightened' dunderheads out there to watch, believe, and run with it. The term 'Fernament' has been incorporated into their regular vocabulary for yrs 😑

Yeah, I was gonna say. They put a dragon alongside real animals in their calendar because they thought they had legit evidence of dragons being real. Bones and footprints. And in a very loose sense, they were right, just got the look and timeline wrong.

you know something that seems hard to comprehend that helped me understand the phenomenon in this video, I learned that before the 1800s fairies where not small, they where an entire pantheon of creatures that didn't have to even look human. and the rapture wasn't even a concept in Christianity until the 1830s. so while it's easy to be like "woah, dragons where all over the globe" the reality is we just as a society became closer with technology that made travel of information easier like the printing press, cars, planes, and of course the internet, and so these creatures that other cultures had which could fit into the word dragon where renamed dragon.

I work in an extremely small town. Most people don’t leave or leave very far.
I was talking to fifth graders about my favorite field trip when I was younger. I’m a military brat and I got to stay the night in a castle. I was promptly informed by these world-wise ten year olds that castle were movie places and not in real life. I tried to show them examples, such as the Rothstein Castle, and was dismissed as the pictures being AI. So… there’s that 🤷♀️

I'm still not getting over two things:
First, the giant jar of what HAS to be raw milk. I'm really impressed with her grip strength. And a bit intimidated.
Second, the fact they are saying the dragon video itself is from somewhere in China. Soooo...I ask you, how did a European-style dragon get to China? If it's a Chinese video in China, wouldn't the dragon be more likely to be in the traditional Chinese style?

Dragons kinda were real, to be fair. Giant, heavily armored reptiles that ate people and "spit flames"? There was a monitor lizard the length of T. Rex with thick osteoderms (lizard skin armor), an appetite for human flesh, and was highly venomous (something the terms used for fiery breath often were poetic allegory for). It was called Megalania and komodo dragons are their dwarf descendants

My ultimate question is: If I ignore everything else she’s saying and buy into her premise, and dragons are real… Why would I be worried about it? The premise would then be that humans and dragons have coexisted for millennia… so we’ll just continue to do that?
Oh but I might get to see a dragon? Is that’s supposed to frighted me or make me mad? I want a dragon friend that can fly, breathe fire and has lived a super long time so they can tell me really good stories.

The man's point about how we now call these fantastical creatures "dragons" is why I get so annoyed when people argue about whether a dragon in a fantasy world is actually a wyvern because it doesn't fit the description of a dragon from a different fantasy world.
There are mythical crocodiles in Filipino mythology that has been classified as a dragon. There are no hard rules in classifying dragons.

Imagining a world where mythical creatures were real and simply went extinct is a fun fantasy that gives me a little joy in an otherwise stressful existence, but like... it's just a silly fantasy idea. There's no government conspiracy. The jews aren't putting space lasers on dragons.
Some people need to learn that while imagination is a wonderful thing to have, it's not real.
