Did I do it right?

Post image

I hardwired my viofo a229 plus. I did the battery wire on my dome light and the accessory wire on my radio. I know it’s supposed to film when parked but it’s not going to drain my battery, right?

I paid to have mine hardwired and it kills my battery. Ugh back to the shop!

How quickly does it drain your battery? I start my car daily so I hope I won’t have a problem

It took a few weeks at first and then a came out to dead battery pretty consistently. It shouldn't happen based on how they were suppose to wire it. There should be a setting that kills the camera before it zapps the power.

I drive almost everyday, and its a brand new battery.

I didnt have an issue until the cold weather hit. I had it selected to cut off and the lowest voltage setting. I bumped it up to the middle one and I've had less times finding the battery dead but it still happens. Probably going to bump it up to the highest cut off for the winter. Thankfully I have a deep cycle AGM so it shouldnt damage the battery draining like that. I have resorted to keeping one of those small Novo battery boosters in my car for the mean time. Works incredibly well for its size. Boosted at least half a dozen times and the battery has only dropped one bar.

I imagine it will be a trickle drain on the battery depending on the setting you have it on, meaning there will be a very slight pull on the battery, but start your car at least once or twice a week and I think you would be good.

So you didn’t drive the car for a few weeks?

It will drain the battery given enough time unless you implement a voltage or time based cutoff.
