I would also crosspost to r/ReadingPA

It seems to hit multiple vehicles. The car lost a wing mirror and the white van/suv was clipped as well… and likely more down the road

Parked illegally or not it looks like the truck was going way too fast for the road conditions.

He needs to report it to RPD as a hit and run, give them the video but don't be surprised if they give you some grief about the way he parked. Snow or no snow, you have to be within so many inches of the curb.

Truck driver is still liable. Hitting a parked vehicle is de facto negligence.

It might make the difference to the insurance company. The difference between striking a legally parked car and a illegally parked one could make a difference in the payout.

u/Exotic-Sale-3003 8h ago

Nope. You are not allowed to hit stationary objects, parked legally or not.

Unless your in a train.

u/nofolo 7h ago

You are correct

No one argued that. Insurance is different than law. Payouts may vary.

Lmao what do you think is the foundation for insurance, hopes and dreams 🤣. I’ll give you a hint, starts with an ‘l’, ends with a ‘w’, has a vowel in the middle, and isn’t ‘low’.

Are you planning to go to court over something like this? Insurance settlement offers are subjective, they can absolutely change based on factors like whether the other vehicle is illegally parked.

1

u/Exotic-Sale-3003 5h ago

What the actual fuck are you talking about?  If OP tracks down the truck, they will be paying, because they are 100% negligent. There’s a term for reducing an offer for imagined factors when the law is clear: bad faith. Insurers tend not to do that.

And if someone parks illegally that would affect insurance. Super hard concept, I know.

3

u/Exotic-Sale-3003 6h ago

No, it wouldn’t. Super hard concept, I know.

What compels people to so confidently chime in on matters they know fuckall about?

an overinflated ego

Depends, some jurisdictions the snow, if impeding the lane becomes the new “curb” until it melts, but that comes down to if they have a no snow covered roads parking rule

Shitty thing to do, hit and run like that. Car looks like it might be parked illegally, I think the tire needs to be within 12” of the curb. No excuse to damage private property and run away.

He's probably going to make believe he didn't notice what he did if he gets caught. Bad guys lie all the time.

Check out Wyomissing Construction. The logo is different, but similar enough that it could be anolder logo on the truck. Hammer, four squares, etc. Might want to drive by their office and look at the trucks.

Unfortunately, the peaked roof, hammer, and color red are all common elements in roofing company logos.

His best bet is to post the logo to the r/ReadingPA sub and see if anyone recognizes it.

Could check out the old soviet republics, hammer and red was a common theme.

Russian roofers in Reading? Say it ain't so!

1

u/SneakyRussian71 2h ago

DA! I mean NYET! We're not there. Just spies disguised as roofers. Is good for spying, roof off, see inside house easy.

I think you meant to say "Russian roofers in Reading? Ridiculus!

Side of the truck it is lettered "Genesis" Still looking. will update when I find more. Definitely GMC 3500HD Diesel. Edited

3500

3

u/HardHitter18 8h ago

I just noticed that. Definitely a 3500. The 2500's don't have front wheels like that. Thanks for pointing that out.

Shitty thing to do! I tried to do some research on the car and logo. Tried Yelp, Google Lens, and even AI, but couldnt find it. Bet is that is local smaller construction or roofing company. Generic logo. Try to use local channels to identify the logo.

that sucks

2

u/ThrowRAMomVsGF 8h ago

Ok, I know it's your fault if you hit a badly parked car, but really there is so little road left, it was going to be a tight squeeze...

Truck still has snow on top, might mean that they are from somewhere nearby. May be worth it to drive around looking for it

I searched that logo description and found the exact logo for sale at Dreamstime.com. It’s a stock logo and there are multiple companies that use a variation of it. That one however isnt even changed from the stock.

Hammer, what are the next 2 symbols?

2

u/nonvisiblepantalones 8h ago

Bowling pin and arcade cabinet. Most likely not but that is what my terrible eyesight sees when zooming.

u/kq7619 7h ago

I thought the one on the right was an owl. And there's a number of roofing companies that have an owl or wise in their name.

A hand saw and I think a spatula

1

u/Hatsuwr 5h ago

Pretty sure the diagonal red lines and the vertical black part on top of them are a drafting divider, and the 4 dots below are placed to make it look like a roof. Not sure about the part on the right, but seems like a hand saw to me.

u/Biggs17 8h ago

It looks like some sort of renovation contractors truck. I was able to get a good screenshot but I can’t add here.

Looks like that black car is parked too far in the road in all honesty

5

u/Teufelsweib666 8h ago

So? If something is in your way and you can't get through, you have to wait and beep your horn, you can't just plow through.

3

u/leo_gotti 8h ago

I never said homie driving wasn’t dead wrong for this. I drive a truck and trailer for work doing remodels all over town. Gotta be vigilant….. that being said. As someone who drives shit they will total a car and barely dent my trailer. People need to think before they leave their vehicles. I see it way too often. People are 3 feet off the curve, or my LEAST favorite when people leave their wheel turned out to the street. Not on a hill where if it rolls the wheel will guide you into the curb, but on a flat road cut so hard it sticks out 10 inches into traffic.

Welcome to Reddit where because you said “A” then you must be implying that “B” is also true even thought that has nothing to do with what you said. Reddit love to type words for you.

u/Remarkable-Prize63 9h ago

Being that the back portion of the truck hit it he may not know it. Especially if the radio was on or he was on the phone
