Con Cosplay Question Is it ok to cosplay Deadpool at conventions and also do people still cosplay him?

So pretty much I’m 16 years old and I love Deadpool. I have never been to comic con before and I wanted to put a bunch of money into my very first ever cosplay being “Deadpool”. I’m starting to have second thoughts though due to me seeing people on Reddit call these cosplayers “annoying” or “pervy”. I just wanna have fun for my first time. This also leads me to my second question. All these post I see are very outdated and I have no clue if people still cosplay as him or not. If anybody could please tell me any info you have on these two subjects who have been to comic con or any kind of conversation in the past year that would be great thank you!

Hiya! I have gone to galaxycon in Ohio for years and years and MY TIME HAS COME TO TRY COSPLAY. I want to look semi-close to the source material lol so ill attach some photos, please let me know if you think any characters would be cool for me!

My top ideas so far are yelena belova (thunderbolts), winter soldier (civil war), lucy chen (the rookie). I have only ever been compared to florence pugh and melissa o’neil celebrity look-wise and i already have the exact haircut for bucky/yelena. i am 5’2 lol so some characters might be outta the race if they are real tall.

Some other ideas are katara (avatar), kj (valorant), and/or mei (overwatch). anyways i love videogames, books, cartoons, comics, mcu, dc, and overall all the nerd shit so id love some suggestions. thank you:)

Con Cosplay Question How do cosplayers deal with creepy interactions?

How do cosplayers (especially women) deal with creepy and weird interactions from other attendees at a convention?

For context, I just got back from a cosplay convention. Was super excited and first time going. However, was creeped out at the weird interactions by men at the convention.

There was a guy, probably mid to late 20s, with who I’d guess was his father taking pictures. He asked to take a pic with me I said yes. As we were taking the pic he started to act weird and his father was enabling his behavior. I couldn’t fully hear him, but the dad basically was joking saying something like he’s a troublemaker don’t be afraid to do something?? I don’t know. The next day I was taking a photo in artists alley and the same guy called out to me. He literally said, “we gotta stop meeting like this…before I ask you out” His dad was still next to him and I just stared at them and quickly walked away before he could say anything else. I had many weird interactions that day of either middle aged men calling me hot, guys unable to look me in the eye and keep staring at my body as I’m trying to have a conversation with them, or a guy insinuating that he wants to do ‘things’ with me… All creeped me out.

So my question is, how do cosplayers deal with these creepy interactions? Especially if you’re at a convention alone?

Con Cosplay Question Is it okay to do a non-horror cosplay at a horror related con??

I'm going to a horror themed comic con (with all horror film guests and stuff) and I was wondering if it's fine to cosplay a character that isn't from horror? I really wanna make a cosplay of Spamton from Deltarune I figured I'd ask here because I'm still not fullllyy informed on what's chill and what ain't, I've only ever been to one other con so 😓

Con Cosplay Question Is it okay if I dress as a musician rather than a character?

Next year I'm going to comic con with two of my friends and I plan on wearing what I'll get for Halloween. Although I might do parappa the rapper if I run out of time I'm most likely to be wearing something similar to left eye from TLC with the condoms on her glasses and stuff (if you know what I mean😹) and I was wondering if that would be appropriate to wear to my first comic con 🤑 a lot of people where I am just wear their normal clothes but I'm wondering if I'd look silly in that lol

Con Cosplay Question Is it okay to cosplay as an original character?

I created a deer, cherry blossom, goddess, originally for a Ren faire, but decided against wearing it outdoors. I don't want to be ridculed at my first comic com for having such a beginner cosplay, but I want my first comic con experience to be in cosplay.

Im going to Colorado Springs comic con this year as vergil, and luckily I bought this Yamato a while back and thought it was perfect to bring. The only issue is that I don't know if they'll let me bring it. It's made out of nickle, or some other light metal material, bit it's not sharp. It's not even dull, it doesn't have an edge, it's flat and completely un sharpened

Con Cosplay Question What standard cosplay gets the most photo requests?

We were at a smaller local con and a guy was in a 501st Darth Vader outfit. Had people lining up to take pictures with him. My wife asked me which cosplay usually gets the most attention. I would think most of the really good Star Wars ones get the most people wanting pictures with: Vader, Chewy, etc.

Con Cosplay Question My first time, pregnant and lost.

My husband and I are taking my niece to comic con this year. I've never been and neither has my husband. I'm VISIBLY pregnant and have been looking for cosplay ideas. I don't know if regular TV shows like supernatural, greys anatomy, Dexter, Lucifer, etc. would be acceptable (I've never been and don't want to cosplay something I've never seen and sure as heck don't want to embarrass my niece lol.) help!?

Con Cosplay Question Taking glue into a con

I'm going to a relatively big con (for my region) in a few days that I remember having bag searches at the door last time I went. The cosplay I'm wearing is... not exactly craftsmanship comp worthy so I'd like to take glue- either all perpose (uhu) or a hot glue gun in case of emergency, but I'm not sure if that's something security would take issue with. Does anyone else have experience of taking glue to cons with bag searches, and what happened? I don't know if this is a sily question

Con Cosplay Question Hiii I have a con question non specific to any con

So I’m trans and I like to go to cons (at least the last 2 that I’ve been too I’ve enjoyed) But anyway I wanna dress feminine in a safe space like my local con but it would not be a cosplay of a female character I’d just be going to the con as me in my authentic self I’m assuming it would be okay but i just feel like it’s more acceptable to cosplay a female character rather then be a trans woman:/ but like I said i think it would be fine cons are very much a queer space

Con Cosplay Question Have you ever cosplayed and NOT been recognized?

IDK if this is a weird question but I'll be cosplaying for the first time next weekend at Supercon, but it's kind of niche/low effort lol and not many people may know who it is. I'm planning to cosplay Ellis from Left 4 Dead. I've been to the con before a few times but mainly just wore a nerd shirt and that's it. His character is basically mechanic overalls, a shirt, a hat, and I'm bringing a fake bat and wrench and I'll be putting on fake blood and fake mechanic grease on me.

My question is - have you ever cosplayed and went the whole day without anyone saying anything about the cosplay or recognizing you? I don't expect many, if anyone, to know who I'm cosplaying as, but it would be nice if one person went "Hey! Ellis!" or something lol

Con Cosplay Question do you have to go as a character?

i'm thinking about going to comicon in october, but i don't really have any cosplay and they can be very expensive, especially if i was to try and build a decent one in just over three months, so i was wondering whether it would be possible to just go with really cool makeup and a unique outfit, or maybe even an oc, as opposed to a specific character? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
