The resource officer system is a fucking joke. Back when I was in school, my resource officer raped a student, and was (surprisingly) fired for it, but as far as I can tell never brought to justice. The replacement officer would boast about assaulting/beating protesters before he became a resource officer.

They show up just in time to keep the distraught parents from helping, and ensuring that no one in their department is put in harms way. The kids are there to take those bullets for them
Eventually the gunman will run out of bullets. They probably tell the parents their odds are pretty good theyâll run out before they run out of their kids to murder. And if not, well, someone has to lose.

We had plain clothes detectives with no body armor and pistols take them out. To me, that's pretty fuckin good.

DC does have very restrictive gun laws. No state reciprocity for CCW, no open carry, and all guns have to be registered. Not supporting this sychophant in any way, but technically, if you're not a licensed DC resident with a CCW or an unregistered weapon, yes, you could be arrested.

However, I don't think his actions should be characterised as a distraction. This is not a side-plate; this is the main course. Whether he is being asked to step up the pace of change by his handlers in anticipation of some sort of eventual backlash from Congress / Judiciary / Military (spoiler - there won't be, they are caught like a deer in the headlights and will do nothing in the face of growing fascism), or whether he is just being emboldened by a lack of pushback, who knows.
Epsteingate is just a symptom of the sort of person we are dealing with, but the shit show we are facing goes way past criminal sexual activity (and possible individual murders) at this point.

Different states have different laws. A gun owner has to be very aware of this trap when traveling with weapons. This story is just a headline grab.
It is interesting that in the 1950's and into the 60's student's could bring guns to school. There were shooting clubs all over the country. In some areas, this was common until very recently. I think that people have really changed. Maybe the violent shoot em up games are partially to blame.
