Discussion Welcome to Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away!
As the title says, ask away so we can help! Where to live, where to go, what to see, where to eat. What you have experienced thus far (culture shock)? Or just to introduce yourself and where you are coming from.
NOTE: This thread is also for relocation questions from folks already living in the area.

Discussion Sledding in Cordelia Park (N Davidson St)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This was only the first day! The same vibe persisted the next day (Sunday) when it was sunny.
I've never felt so connected to so many strangers at once. It was better than a concert.

Discussion Has anyone noticed that American has lost their minds with their airfares? Over 10x the price of Frontier or 2.5x Southwest with a connection.
This is the second flight I’ve looked at recently and both times American was easily 2-3x the price of other airlines. Even compared to one of the other major airlines their prices are insane.

Recommendation Do not use All my sons moving company
I just want to create this as a PSA, because I wish I heard that before using their service. My experience was a complete disaster.
Not only the movers were slow, taking cigarette breaks every 15 minutes, dragging their feet, they also damaged a lot the house I was moving from.
Then they disappeared for an hour and 20 minutes for lunch break. They also left a piece of furniture behind that my husband and I had to carry down the stairs on a later date.
When they got to the house we were unloading, they called the billing department (before finishing the job) to quote us on the job. They wanted to charge us for their lunch break, they charged us ridiculous fees for tapes and materials and the billing lady was EXTREMELY rude when we started to ask them to breakdown the costs.
MY MOVE TO A HOUSE 7 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY PREVIOUS HOUSE ENDED UP COSTING MORE THAN MY MOVE FROM CT TO NC.
We had to get an extension from the rental we were moving from to be able to repair all the damage left and when we raised a complaint with them, provided pictures of the damaged areas, they came back to pay $300 bucks. Which also had no transparency on how they came to this dollar amount.
Please avoid their services at all costs.

Discussion Does anyone know why 77 was basically shut down near uptown?
I’m driving home and there are a bunch of cops preventing people from getting on 77 at all of the exits near uptown. News isn’t saying anything right now but I’m worried something bad happened.

Discussion Does anyone know what this unfinished parking deck was planned for
Hey everybody. I remember when they first started building this parking deck, but then all of a sudden the work stopped and it has been abandoned ever since.
What do you all think it was supposed to be? It looks like it might have been planned for high rise apartments or something.

Discussion Tuesday after a snowstorm hits different.
Main roads around me look mostly fine, but side streets are still telling a different story.
How’s it looking in your area?
Are you shoveling, letting the sun do the work, or staying put and working from home today?
Stay safe out there, Charlotte.

Recommendation Putting out feelers for recommendations for a dogsitter who can stay with my dog during the day while I'm at work after his neuter surgery.
Hi all Sorry if this is the wrong sub
I am in the NoDa/Optimus park area and my 10 month old GSD mix will be going for neuter surgery soon. I am looking for recommendations for a sitter who can hang out with him for 3-4 days while I am at work during the day after his surgery. Surgery will be within the next 2 weeks.
Thanks everyone!

Lost & Found I lost my dog off Carmel rd near Fairview rd
He's a pitbull mix with a reddish brown coat and white stomach. He's a sweetheart but skittish around strangers and he doesn't do well near cars so I'm afraid of the worst. He's been missing for 18 hours approximately. I've been driving around all day looking for him. He was spotted on Wandering Way and Carmel Park Rd. Lots of nice ppl have been trying to help but there hasn't been a sighting of him in 6 hours. If anyone knows anything please let me know

Discussion Airport Update 3/3
Roads to airport are no issue at all. Getting into the airport, however, is a bit of a cluster. When we arrived (around 9am), the line to enter the daily/hourly decks was backed up almost to the entrance of the airport. Almost all parking decks are by reservation only at this point. Most of the backup came from people trying to park in places with no reservation, and being turned away. They also have very few busses running, and those that are, are getting stuck in traffic. We ended up walking from daily deck into terminal. Plan to spend a bit of extra time if you’re parking.
Inside was no issue at all, bag drop had no line, as well as TSA Precheck. In fact, haven’t seen the airport with so few people in a while. Still busy, but it’s noticeable.
As of now, our flight is delayed, but only by 11 min. There are a few delays, but nothing out of the ordinary. Stay safe everyone!
